They are logistics, logistics, logistics, and fundraising. Im not sure philadelphia will raise the money easily, but they will raise it in the end. Brooklyn always made me skeptical. The arena what do you call that arena . The barclay center, there is too much around it. Philadelphia, they basically turned the city the perimeter was totally controlled. They can do that again. Its a different arena, same location. You can walk from the hotel. The argument on the other side, and i think this is totally fine, but there have been conventions in new york city, democrat and republican. If you can control new york city it is different controlling the area around Madison Square garden than it is around barclays. It wouldnt have been a problem. The other thing for new york would be proximity to media infrastructure. The media will go to philadelphia. I know they will go, but there is a lot of space here. The other thing i will say about the city, and i done think this is a deciding factor, but mayor de blasio has not had the smoothest last two months, and you always have to worry whether you are a democrat or republican, have to worry about Law Enforcement doing what you need them to do. There is only one man in america happier in america. That is governor andrew cuomo. Mitt romney is the one person we absolutely no will not be the 2016 nominee. Or do we . Jeb bush has to win New Hampshire. He will lose iowa. Youve got to win one of the particularly if youre considered to be something of a front runner and Everything Else if jeb bush loses New Hampshire, they will get mitt romney back in the race. Do we basically know the republican field . Do we know the shape of it, or are there surprise entries yet to come . If jeb bush performs politically as well as he is performing in finance, i think we know the field. There are three people looming out there waiting to see if bush fails this year, or as carvel says, next year. One is romney, who i was amazed when he got out of the race. People just said, hes done. No. He is still looming. He left the door a little open. That is plan a. If Rick Santorum wins iowa, and rand paul wins New Hampshire they a step the establishment is going to say, we need help. John kasich is going to South Carolina and mike pence, the governor of indiana, those two guys would like to be president if theres an easy path. If you look at those guys, i think kasich and pence, its not even a matter of bush failing. Kasich is thinking about it quite seriously, headed to South Carolina. I know Money Matters to him. He might not think there is space for him, but he has said a number of times, with all of bushs fundraising strength there are a lot of problems lurking in the polling weve seen so far. The question james is pointing to is, where is jeb bush the front runner . I know you think hes going to win them all and run the table. I dont think he will win them all, but he can win. Im not sure thats true. The thing about kasich and pence, they are still ambivalent, and i dont see how anybody ambivalent gets into a field where people are hiring staff and raising money. I dont see begging from anybody, even donors. I am begging john kasich to run. I beg you john kasich. , it would be fantastic if you ran. The other thing about romney that is interesting to me, his people say, hes going to get in after New Hampshire. The problem for romney is, New Hampshire is his best state. Then hes got a go to South Carolina where he lost to newt gingrich. I dont quite get that timing. James is smart. I think he put his finger on something. As bullish as i am on jeb bushs chances, i could see a scenario where he collapses on the launchpad and turns out not to be able to do this. I dont disagree with you. He could win. I dont think he could win iowa. If you loses badly and iowa, doesnt win New Hampshire, South Carolina, you are headed into big states. That is when the establishment will start to look for, hey, weve got to get somebody else in this thing. If jeb bush wins, youve got to get me one of those rolls. If jeb bush wins the iowa caucuses, i will take you a plane. All right. Scott walker is pulling pretty well, on top of the political world, on his way to win iowa and New Hampshire, and sweep the nomination, when bam, the badger favorite might be enjoying a stint in David Plouffes proverbial barrel. Is scott walker right now in control of his public image, or not . He is not currently in control of his image. We talked about it yesterday. I dont think the london thing is disastrous, but it wasnt great. I dont think the story in the Washington Post is disastrous but its also not great. I think its going to be a problem for him down the line. Right now, hes not in a horrible place, but hes not in control. To not explained to the Washington Post when they asked repeatedly, why did you not drop out of college, its just i do mean to single out scott walker, but he is representative. He is in with clinton and bush with some infrastructure and some experience. To let these stories go out there and walked around, between london and this, it just shows a level of distraction or lack of care or lack of knowledge. I think they got his good performance and iowa thrust him into his moment in the sun before they were prepared for it. You read that story in the Washington Post. I think the question of giving a solid question to why he didnt finish at marquette is important, but there is also stuff in that story there is nothing bad about it, but the question of, hes told the story before, he was forced into politics. There are a bunch of stories suggesting he was a political climber in college. There are things that reporters are going to hone in on. I cant remember if it was his remake our friend, but a guy who he was close to in college is a washington bartender. The last thing i want you to do if im a candidate is for you to go to the bartender and sit down and get a drink and ask a lot of questions. That story is littered with not landmines but wideopen seams that you want to mine. Rubio, paul, cruz, they are not prepared for the kind of stories like this or you think we dont have to cooperate with the Washington Post on a piece about college. These things, when they are out on the trail, campaigning, these stories could be killers for an entire week. You have to have a real quick answer off the top of your time. She spoke about samesex marriage and the possibility of a female president , but also the tumbler page from which she gained her notorious name, notorious rbg. Biden has a simpler philosophy. If things are going well, a better one. Embrace what was done, and win the argument. He said the same thing about democrats in 2010. He said the same thing about democrats in 2014. Youve got to live with the record youve got, so why not embrace it and fight for it rather than trying to pick and choose . For me, shes going to have to make careful choices about where she was with the administration on foreign policy. On this economic stuff, if those conditions hold, i think you are right. You got to wrap your arms around the Obama White House and say, i am 100 there. Biden said, it wasnt long ago that members of the party said the economic path didnt work. It will looking to distance themselves from what weve done. I think that would be a terrible mistake. I believe that Hillary Clinton is going to come as i said psychodrama herself over this. Biden isnt afraid of the record. He has no psychodrama. Heres another issue where we are going to see Hillary Clintons psychodrama, economic equality. Elizabeth warren is the pacesetter. She does it in a hot way. This is joe biden in a biden way talking about income inequality. I hope you all end up being millionaires or billionaires but the last thing somebody making over 1 million a year needs is another tax cut. They are ok. They are doing just fine. No, im serious. The whisper thing i like the way joe uses his inside voice. He considers himself as good a speaker as bill clinton. If not better. There is no doubt looking at that clip that he went into this event knowing full well that the Des Moines Register was there, that this was going to be an iowa thing, but i dont think hes any better than Hillary Clinton on this. I think hes better on that first thing. I dont think hes any better than her on how to talk about income inequality. She does open himself up to charges of class warfare that republicans have used. She has got to find she talked in 2008 when she was at her best as a candidate, not in the majority of the campaign but at the end, in white workingclass neighborhoods, workingclass neighborhoods in general across the midwest ohio, pennsylvania, north carolina, talking in a way about the struggles of the workingclass voters that was not hooked in this language of income inequality, but was really about that in some ways. I think she can find her way to that window again if she embraces that posture and is a fighter and is the underdog. I want to get to this last thing. This has to do with the question of working in washington and getting things done. Barack obama and Hillary Clinton, 2008, obama said, i can work with the other party. Hillary clinton said, im going to hit the other party in the head with a two by four. Ironically, lori clinton had a record working with republicans, and one of her private criticisms of obama is he hasnt worked with republicans. Biden who has made some of the deals talked today in des moines about this issue. Can democrats work across the aisle now and in the future . Ive never once questioned another man or womans motive in politics. I think its one of the reasons why i get on well and why i get things done. Look at what has happened today. When you disagree today in modern politics, its because youre immoral, for your bad, or you have no character. If i say you lack character, that you are racist, it is hard for us to have any relationship. That is what has happened today in politics. Look how personal it has become. Look how bitter it has become. Its not because the nation is divided on the issues. Its because that the tactics the way in which we campaign this is, i think, the clearest indication that joe biden is not going to run for president. That is a message that has a lot of resonance to a general election audience, but its not the kind of message that a democratic nominee if you were going to try to take on Hillary Clinton, you would not be preaching the gospel of calm in todays democratic party. Its an interesting question. What does a lot of the country want . They want a president who can work across the aisle, and i think there are people who will vote in the republican and democratic process who want that. It is a tough argument to make. I think joe biden is proud of the fact that he knows how the senate works. Joe biden sits back and looks at the current president and says this guy cannot get washington to work. Hillary clinton, her greatest strength in some ways, she can make this argument the question i have is, will she . I think she might make it in a general election context. The Democratic Base is so scarred by what has happened over the last six years. It is hard to get democrats excited. Coming up, brooklyn lost the convention, but it might get hillary quentin. We showed her around the borough. If you believe your newspapers, the hippest borough in gotham city is in for some hill raising.
