what is your assessment? i think in fairness north korea has a lot of bravado and its claims are often exaggerated but that does not mean it does not warrant concern. north korea has had a desire for an at sea deterrent and it's been actively testing since 201a, initially on a smaller submarine, this represents a milestone because this represents a milestone because this is a much bigger vessel capable of carrying seemingly ten missiles. as i said, it is an older submarine or based on an older submarine so it will have some limitations and vulnerability certainly and we should not assume how north korea could use it so it could be close to port, not doing long—distance patrols, certainly not a continuous deterrent but nevertheless it places an additional challenge and is in line with the north korean desire to base nuclear systems which make them less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context _ less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context can _ less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context can you - less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context can you give - less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context can you give us l less vulnerable to attack. for a wider context can you give us a picture of what the north korean nuclear and military capability looks like compared to its regional and international counterparts? investigation by the special grand iury investigation by the special grand jury in georgia, slightly complicated but there was an arcane process of seven months of investigation by one grand jury. which then in effect handed over its findings to the district attorney had then decided what to do with them. this grand jury instead of indicting 19 people which is what ended up happening, did suggest indictments against 39 separate people including as you say a serving republican senator lindsey graham from south carolina and two former republican senators from georgia as well as a raft of others including michael flynn who was the first national security adviser for donald trump. around 20 people were not indicted despite the recommendation from that first grand iury recommendation from that first grand jury and i think that raises questions about why they decided not to indulge those 20. some of them may have decided to cooperate and some of them may be cooperating as we speak with the investigation which would effectively remove the threat of indictment in particular. some of them there may not be enough evidence and the attorney may have decided there is not enough evidence because what we get in this report is the way the jury voted. you can see from some of those votes particularly related to lindsey graham that the jury was pretty split, there was a substantial number of people who did not vote to indict him and the district attorney there may have decided on the balance of things, there is not enough evidence and put before a jury, at least in this context of a grand jury, jury, at least in this context of a grandjury, people jury, at least in this context of a grand jury, people were not terribly persuaded by the evidence so that could explain it but it raises a lot of questions about the process and why 20 people were effectively given the nod and let off in that sense. and it also of course has stoked up the political row here because donald trump had immediately condemned this as politically motivated, as he would and lindsey graham has said he is worried for america because this was just him trying to do hisjob and aged 31 from burnley served as a scots guard in the british army from 2011—15. with me is joe the british army from 2011—15. with me isjoe inward with more details. that message came from his mother brenda and she was speaking to one of our colleagues and we understand he died back injuly but it's only now that the news has come out, obviously painful for the family and they did not want to speak about it too quickly. he was found with his handstand behind —— tied behind —— behind his back in a body of water and that is a clear implication he had been captured. 0bviously devastating for the family, they were talking about how he is a much loved son and this is leading a terrible hole in their lives. i think what is interesting, he is one of many hundreds, thousands, british fighters out in ukraine, many of them former soldiers. mr chadwick was a member of the scots guard between 2011—15 and he had left his posting there many years before the ukraine were started but i think like lots of the people who have gone to fight, he had combat experience and had been a soldier and wanted to put that to use in ukraine and he has played a very heavy price for having done so. it heavy price for having done so. it brings to the fore the many risks as you have mentioned that many people who go and fight in ukraine face? it is not known exactly how many foreign soldiers there are, estimates are about 20 thousandths of the foreign legion although they keep it very close. i was out in ukraine at the start of the war and i was interviewing various soldiers, former soldiers, fighting for the foreign legion and they were talking about how it was really nothing they had experienced before because what is interesting about the experience of former soldiers going out and fighting in ukraine, especially at they are part or were members of the western military, they have never been part of combat when they do not have air superiority. the soldier i spoke to was x special forces, a south korean special forces soldier who had fought in many conflicts and he had never been shelled before because always generally, people in nato military sword those who have air dominance and artillery service" in a specially recorded message. the king and queen marked the anniversary by attending a service at crathie kirk — near balmoral. gun salutes have been taking place in hyde park, the tower of london and edinburgh castle — as our royal correspondent nick witchell reports. for the king, a day of conflicting emotions. one year to the day since his mother died, he went with his wife to say prayers at crathie kirk. the sense of loss rekindled, but with it a sense of satisfaction that the transition to his reign has gone smoothly. the long reign of elizabeth ii had ended amid the tranquillity of balmoral, exactly as she had wanted. and from balmoral on this, the first anniversary of his mother's death, the king paid tribute to her. we recall with great affection, her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us. i am deeply grateful too for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year. in the year since his accession to the throne, charles has confounded those who thought the change of reign would destabilise the monarchy. there's been a change in some aspects of style, but not in the central functioning of the institution, to the relief of many. he's approaching 75. he's at that stage in life when he is perhaps a little more reflective. patrickjephson is a former senior member of the royal household. he was private secretary to the king's first wife, the late diana princess of wales. hopefully, he's taking this first year to take stock. central to that is not rushing things. he has all the time that god gives him, and i have the impression that he's actually not in a tearing rush to do anything very much. and that's a good thing. but the man whose loyalty is to charles*s first wife questions the decision to elevate his second wife and to crown her as queen. i have read in the newspapers that a very large majority of those who answered polls are not happy for her to be given the title the queen. they remember that the late queen said that she wanted camilla to be the queen consort. the first anniversary of charles*s accession was marked with gun salutes. the british monarchy has moved on. yet the memory of a revered queen is still very fresh. the prince and princess of wales paid their tribute at st david's cathedral in haverfordwest. one year on, her late majesty queen elizabeth ii has been remembered. nicholas witchell, bbc news. it is time for the weather now. hello. it has been another day when temperatures have exceeded 30 celsius, an unprecedented run of september heat. but through the weekend, things start to change — slowly but surely, it will turn cooler, some scattered downpours as that change takes place. 0n the earlier satellite image, you can see areas of cloud pushing up from the south. we've had some of that medium and high—level cloud in the sky in places today, turning the sunshine a little bit hazy, also some low cloud around some eastern and indeed some western coasts. and overnight, the odd shower creeping across southwest england, parts of wales, maybe northwest england, parts of northern ireland and western scotland, too. it is going to be another very warm night. these are the minimum temperatures. so into saturday, very warm start to the day. we will again see some spells of sunshine, but some areas of cloud, particularly around some western coasts. some showers breaking out, as well, and maybe some slightly more persistent rain trying to push into the far northwest of scotland. temperature—wise, well, already a little bit cooler the further north and west you are — 18 for stornoway, but, further south and east, well, it could be the hottest day of this spell of weather, 33 possible in the capital. and with that heat and humidity through the late afternoon east wales, the midlands, parts of northern england could see some quite vicious thunderstorms — they'll be well—scattered, there will be places that avoid them, but if you catch one, you will know about it, with a lot of rain in a short space of time. and as you can see, through saturday night into sunday morning, some of us will see some further showers or thunderstorms, and some of those could even affect the great north run on sunday — but i think the good news for those taking part is that it will not be as hot as it has been. still some
