Then its the best city team of all time. Youve got the first all Manchester Fa Cup Final to come. Are you winning this one . Well, the way i see it is this is like the treble is such a rarity in british football, so ive only ever been done once. So its not nailed on that its that its going to happen. Looking at the two teams over the season and the way city have just flipped the switch the last six six weeks, its difficult to see past city winning, but ill take any kind of 6 0 win. What are you like when youre watching . Are you a nervous . Are you a nervous fan . No. Be relaxed. You get a bit twitchy. How is it . I hate when you go to football and the game kicks off and then someone will say so anyway. You know, to watch the game. Yeah, man, watch the match . You know . So im not that relaxed unless youre like 5 0 up with half an hour left city sometimes. Ah, im a bit, im a kind of someone ive got a little bit of all that in me, but ijust watch it, take it in. Known face there. When im noel gallagher, youre what, a0 years as a city fans. Youve seen it all, havent you . Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You think about those days at main road, your spiritual home to now and all the silverware. Is it better now . Different. Can you compare and contrast those those you sort of missed some of those old days where, well, we werent win, win, win . And no, these are the days. This is it. Its not going to get any. How can it get any better than this with pep and haaland . How can it get any better than that . Were in it now. You know, i mean, you can sense that were in something and once this era is over and pep s decided to move on and probably work on the space programme, you know, you have to start getting this reset and start again. Is pepe genius . Youd have to say he was. Hes made the collective. As the season goes on, the team itself gets better. He gets better, you know . He made the club better. Whatever a genius is, whatever that is, i dont even know what the definition of it is in the dictionary, but whatever, whatever it is, he would surely be one, right . If he blends the Champions League, ill be his butlerfor the next the next five years. It could be a fun job. If i do anything, he said. If he came into my house and said, i dont like the way i dont like the decor in this house, id say, ill change it. Dont worry about that. Yeah, ill do anything. So what do you say when people say city bought the title, bought the silverware . Well, its funny because when you dont win the league, they say that it proves that it cant be bought. So what is it . And at the beginning in two when when when they bought the club, they were trying to get somewhere in a hurry and they were throwing a lot of money at it. Over the last. Five, six years people spent more than we have. Once weve won it. When we got to the points, as far as im aware, the other five times have gone to the last day. Right . And four of those times we were behind. So its not like were running away with the league every season and its not like, you know, theres a world auction for these players that come along and just obliterating everybody with a chequebook and city now have got their own their own rock star, i guess. In Erling Haaland, havent they . He hasnt had the season. Well, i know hes got superpowers, but he even suggested he might be able to get oasis back together. Did he did he say that . I think so, yeah. He says you need a norwegian peacemaker. I think. What a cocktail. Lets call that a few of those. Well. Yeah. Greater men have tried. Um is a great lot though honestly its like hes hes hes well you know you forget hes 2022 and already like like like a superstar. Do you remind your kids it wasnt always this good. They were i mean, i look at them sometimes. Ithink, oh, Rock Star Dad made you support the greatest team of this modern era. I mean, what are you looking for . I mean, come on. Great hair. I mean, what do they want . So if were assembling a band out of the band city squad, whos. Whos playing drums, whos on lead vocals, whos on lead guitar . Haaland, surely with that, hair has got to be on. Well, you need. You need the power of the back. So i reckon ireland would be a great drummer with the hair. Yeah. And then. Bass player. Nathan okay. Because hes bound to have the funk. And then two guitarists with curves, the wizard. Brian and jack could make a couple of wizard guitarists. The singer, whos the frontman, who is the frontman, said, its got to be the gaffer on it. Its got to be pep on it. Its a great show. Its got to be. Yeah. You know, bernardo silva, you play the accordion fellow. Well, good luck. Thank you very much. Good luck with those two finals to come. And whatever whatever awaits after that. I mean, if we win the Champions League, im going to walk on stage in my undies never mind Erling Haaland. Bernardo silva needs to bring his accordion, doesnt he . Great speech. Nice one. Thank you very much. Thank you. Lets go back now to wembley, where Manchester City have become fa cup champions. They defeated city rivals Manchester United 2 1. Its the first time the final of the competition has been contested between the two Manchester Clubs top right hand corner, stunned everyone inside the stadium. There were fans who hadnt even made their way to their seats. Yet the fastest ever goal in fa cup final history, just 12 seconds as i imagine. They probably should have had a few more before Manchester United were handed a lifeline. Because the mac ruled that grealish and handed the ball inside of Manchester City. Time for Manchester United captain to play his part for the brutal fernandez from the penalties spot scored the game was even until then, 101 into the break. Not long after because on 51 minutes it was Ilkay Gundogan another volley this time with his left foot. Manchester united press as the game went on as you mentioned, 2 i as the game went on as you mentioned, 2 1 the final result of Manchester City. Erling haaland just a bit player but im sure that city fans wont care because they are now on course for that historic travel with that victory in the fa cup today. With that victory in the fa cup toda. ,. ,. ,. , today. Yes, now two thirds of their wa to today. Yes, now two thirds of their way to that today. Yes, now two thirds of their way to that trouble. Today. Yes, now two thirds of their way to that trouble. There today. Yes, now two thirds of their way to that trouble. There were. Today. Yes, now two thirds of their i way to that trouble. There were some people who thought that maybe their focus would be on a travel cover the Champions League final next week. It seems it wasnt the Champions League final next week. It seems it wasnt the Champions League final next week. Final next week. It seems it was at decatur wembley. Final next week. It seems it was at decatur wembley. Yes, final next week. It seems it was at decatur wembley. Yes, pep final next week. It seems it was at decatur wembley. Yes, Pep Guardiola is 15 of the last six titles for the peas that manager, hes won trophies in germany and spain. He is very, very focused. He has 18 now who are trained winners. Anytime you speak to them they never want to talk about to game time or three time, its always the here now for that i think we saw that in the pre formants today. I guarantee they wont be celebrating for too long. The trouble is on, theyve already secured the Premier League title, the fa cup today, and attention now turns to seven days from today, next saturday, the Champions League final in istanbul. Now on bbc news, Erling Haaland, in his own words. Never, ever misses this man is a sensation. Another Haaland Hatrick hes the norwegian super scorer whos taken the Premier League by storm in a remarkable debut season in england. Manchester citys Erling Haaland has established himself as world footballs most feared striker, rewriting the History Books in the process. And here at the clubs training ground, he told me how he was handling Sporting Superstardom aged just 22. Thanks so much for your time. Youve just been training after a couple of days off. Tell me, what is a day off like for you . Normally i want to do something because when im in the season, im focused and i. I just cannot sit still not doing anything. So normally i want to do a bit. So normally i do work a little bit, sometimes a bit in the gym yeah. You tried to relax your head as much as you can, basically. How important is it to unwind and try and get away from football . A little bit . No, its really important. Thats what i do when i come home. I try to do when i come home or i watch a lot of football. But you can also disconnect from football. Watching football, i think watching others play football. And so, yeah, its really important to rest the mind body, of course, but especially in the mind. You seem to have adapted to life here in manchester remarkably well. What do you think of Living In The City . Do you enjoy it . What do you like about manchester . No, i like manchester. I enjoy it. I think to to play good on the on the pitch, you have to enjoy off the pitch as well. I like the people and i really enjoy everything. So, yeah, i like it. Youre probably the most famous footballer in the country right now. Possibly the whole world. What on earth is that like . That level of fame . No, its nice. Its nice. That means ive done something right. My life has changed. Thats something ijust have to admit. And thats how my life is. I cant complain. I try to enjoy every single moment of it and thats how it is. Youve been described as a style icon. Is that something youre comfortable with, youre proud of . I like to do a bit crazy kind of stuff, both on and off the pitch. So yeah, i like it. Like the pajamas, which seem to be becoming something of a trademark of yours. Well, whats the story behind that . Is that just something its relaxing. You feel comfortable or make a statement or. No, i like to be comfortable wherever i go. And i think i look really good. So thats thats why i use it, basically. Because of that style, your stature, youre very recognisable. It seems that youre embracing that fame. Youre not trying to keep a low profile or hide away. Youre enjoying that element of life. Whats the whats the thinking behind that . No, i, i of course. Its 196 tall and got long blonde hair. So wherever i go, people are going to see me. So thats how my life is. What can i do . Theres nothing i can do. Thats my life. Ijust had to try to enjoy it as much as i can. Try to relax when im home with good people around me thats really important. And yeah, just try to to enjoy my life, basically. Do you accept that your achievements are accompanied by a loss of privacy . You dont have that freedom, perhaps, that people who are not in the public eye have. And is that something its a challenge at times, or is it compensated for by all the good things that come with it . Yeah, of course. I could just wish i could walk into wherever i want without Anyone Filming me but thats. Thats not possible. Thats not how it is. But again, thats my life. Again, i cannot complain about how my how things have turned out. When i was young, i wanted to become a professional footballer and the best in the world. So and a price comes with that. If if youre going to be that theres certain things you have to do different, you have to live different, you have to do this and that. And and thats just how it is. And yeah, im not complaining. Your dream, you say, was to be the best in the world. Have you achieved that dream . Do you believe you are the best goal scorer in the world right now . A good question. I dont want to answer that. I think someone else should answer that. Ithink so. Thats a good start. Can improve . So much. How can you improve on what youre doing . Everything on the pitch from my right foot to my left foot. From the heading. From the build up play. Everything. Have you improved this season a lot . Is that because of the manager . Yeah. A lot on the manager and also the people in the club, around the club, people working with me every day from physios to trainers, also to the people around me keep on developing, me on and off the pitch and and making things as easy as possible as it possibly can in my life to to perform on the pitch. But of course, with pepe, the best manager in the world is of course, when you see my game, ive been developing in a really positive way and thats really important for me because im still really young, im still 22 and ive got a long career ahead of me and i still have to develop. And thats also something i was thinking of over one year ago when i was thinking about my next move, you know, about how i can develop even more and become even better player. So ive been developing in the right way. And what is it about Pep Guardiola that makes him different, special, unique . Is itjust the attention to detail . I think its i think its different on on person to person or player to play because everyones different. So everyone maybe needs a different approach on how to handle things or how to develop or whatever. But for me, its about small details. Of course, i have my own game and i should keep on doing why they bought me. You know, i should keep on doing the things ive been doing before, what they saw when i played for another club. What about small details . What to do here and there, what to do different, maybe in these kind of situations . Thats what hes got. He sees things other people dont see, basically. Here you are, erling sat here today, youre just two games away from the treble and sporting immortality. How does it feel to be this close . A really good feeling. Of course, weve been chasing the whole season, so its been kind of when we won the Premier League was a big relief. When nottingham beat arsenal it was a big relief, to be honest. Also a really good feeling of course, i have to say. And now weve got two finals left and now the only thing we can focus on now is to finalise before the vacation. And how special would it be if you were to achieve something that hasnt been done since before you were born . Thats a measure of how difficult this is. Yeah, exactly. Now it would be unreal to make this history. I will do everything i can to make this kind of history. But really, its not easy. Its two finals against two good teams that will do everything they can to try to destroy that. And they will be motivated, they will be ready. And we have to play it our best, because if we play at our best, were going to be we have a really good chance of achieving exactly that. It will already be a great season. Youve won another title, Premier League title, but is there a feeling that youre this close . Theres a sort of you have to seize this opportunity because you may never have this chance again in your career . No, we should we should definitely take this opportunity now. We should take game by game. Its a its a thing i have to say, and its a thing we have to do. We have to not to think too much. We just have to do what weve been doing basically the whole season and especially the last couple of months or the two in 2023. And we just have to keep going. Basically dont think too much and just win the games. A lot of city fans will be feeling very tense ahead of these next few days. So much on the line. How do you how do you feel . No, i havent thought too much about it. Honestly, while were doing this interview, i try not to think too much about it because overthinking is not a good thing. I think i try to never overthink thats the most difficult thing in this world. And 2023, not to not to overthink in this world. So thats what im basically trying to do. I didnt think of the final until you ask me about it. So thats basically how it is. So you dont imagine what it would be like then to to lift the fa cup or to win the Champions League . You try and keep that out of your mind. No, i try not to think about it because the Champions League, if i start focusing on the Champions League final now, its i cannot do you know, i have to focus. Three hours ago, ifocused on the training today. Tomorrow we focus on the Training Tomorrow and then we Start Building up to the game. Thats how were trying to do. You hear people say city are making winning seem too easy. Its almost becoming too predictable. A little boring, perhaps because theyve won five titles in the last six years. So strong a team, it almost seems too simple. Does that not maybe give the impression of how difficult this is . Do you think maybe city deserve more credit for what theyre doing here . I think this will. People understand how difficult it is in the next years because i didnt understand how difficult the Premier League was to win until i actually was in it and played the 38 games. You know, thats when i understand why people were so happy winning it last year and you can see it in the face. And thats why also i was so happy because i understood how difficult it was. And its also a nice thing when its so difficult and you achieve something. Weve been chasing arsenal throughout the whole season and in the end wejust passed through them. It was an unreal feeling. How do you maintain and keep that hunger, that desire when youve already achieved so much . I mean, very few players win the Premier League title, a few others will win the fa cup. Very, very rarely do you win a Champions League, but you could achieve all this when youre just 22 years of age. How do you then keep going in the years ahead potentially and maintain that hunger . No, for me thats easy. When i do something a nice thing, i often want more of it. When i score a goal, its like, oh, this feeling is so nice. Like, i would love to do it again. Kind of a feeling. So its easy, really. Im a simple guy. I when i do something and i like it, i want to do it more. Exactly with the Premier League, i would love to do it again because of the feeling, you know, and defend that one again and exactly with trophies. I would love to win more trophies because of the feeling and exactly the same with goals, exactly the game. Exactly the same with the winning games, you know, becausejust the feeling is so nice. So for me, its its a natural thing. Is there something which you can identify as the secret to being such a great goalscorer . What sets you apart, do you think, from other great strikers . This, i dont know. For me, its about restarting or kind of taking the confidence from the last game. No matter how it went. If you didnt score. You take this confidence with you that. Ok, i didnt score the last game. Its more likely im going to score in next game because its gone for me. Its a big headline if i suddenly i dont score in a game. So because its so unusual suddenly. But for me, its about keeping the confidence and trying again. Try not to think too much, because when you think too much, its not a good thing. Ijust try to go in the game and try to make the team as good as possible. And if the team plays good, im a striker, i will get chances. And then when i get chances, normally i score. So thats, yeah. Do you ever have a self doubt period of low confidence like normal human beings would have . Or do you just believe the whole time that you will succeed because you seem so unshakeable on the field . No, i mean, im only 22, but i feel like im an experienced guy because ive been playing football for me quite a long time. And now i start to understand how it works. And again, its about thinking its in the mind, its about keeping the body ready, its about keeping the mind clean. So thats just basically how it is. And ijust. Thats just my main focus. Be sharp in the head and then. Be ready for the game, basically. And do you have to tell yourself, dont get carried away, dont get too confident . Is there a sort of a level theres a limit to that . No, its about staying humble, but being confident that youre going to achieve something, that youre going to perform but still do the hard work and never relax throughout the whole season. Its a long season. Thats why i have to stay sharp here. And its not easy. But you have to stay sharp here. Stay humble, work hard. Thats the most important thing. Whats the single most important piece of advice you would give a young footballer who wants to pursue the dream that you have achieved and becoming a professional . Yeah, for me its about having fun because again, if im having fun, i want to do more of it. Exactly how it was with football. When i went play with my friends, it was really fun. I wanted to do it again. And then when it became a natural thing and i wanted to train more, i wanted to become better, i want to become better than others. So for me, its about really having fun. Try to enjoy the little small moments a lot and try to do them again. If you score a goal. Take a minute to feel this feeling how good it actually is, and then try to do it again. Same with the goal. Same with our winning a game and everything. So yeah, its about having fun. Many of us remember your father, from his time in english football. How special has it been for you . The last week or two, making him so proud with all the goals youve scored, and then the Premier League title and still these two huge matches to come. Yeah, of course, its special for him to play in the same club and hes a really important guy hes a really important guy in my in my life. Hes my father. And hes also a really good friend of me. Wejoke a lot. We have a lot of fun we enjoy. Joking around together. We enjoy ourselves in the same company and thats a really important thing. And ive got a Good Relationship with him and hes supported me a lot and a really important guy in my life. Youve experienced Champions League football with salzburg and dortmund, of course, but is there something about that competition here in manchester . Because its the one that theyve so far struggled to achieve. And what would it mean, do you think, to to land it . No, i mean everything. This is why this they brought me, of course, to the club to to get this. We dont have to to hide that. So i will do everything i can, i possibly can to try to make it happen. And, yeah, its my biggest dream. And hopefully dreams do come true. Youve been described as a goal machine. I think, in fact, the manager called you a goal machine last week. That expression suggests a lack of emotion, a sort of coldness, a ruthlessness, if you like. Are you an emotional man away from the field . Do you sort of before a match get get emotional . When you think about the people who have helped you on yourjourney or after a match when you reflect back on it, or do you just manage to maintain that coolness . Yeah, of course. Before games, after games, yes. But in the game, no. And then ijust try to do myjob to to help the team win. So, yeah, of course. In my first home game, i was looking around like, wow, this is amazing, you know, this kind of feeling. And you can also see me sometimes. You probably often i try to smile as much as i can because its its a good thing to have fun and to smile. And and yeah, its im an emotional guy, and i love to have the people that i love around me to enjoy the moments with me and to help make me a better person and a player. Erling, thanks for your time. Good luck at wembley and in istanbul. Thank you. Hello there. Good evening. For the vast majority of us across the uk, its been a Beautiful Day of weather with plenty of blue sky and sunshine, some of the best of it again across wales. Heres denbighshire as recorded by our weather watcher, and it even brightened up for east anglia too where its been cool and cloudy with a Northeasterly Wind for much of the week. But here is diss in norfolkjust basking in all of that sunshine. And there is a lot more to come as we head through tomorrow. And indeed, for much of next week, High Pressure is set to keep us dry and settled. Were keeping the easterly wind, though, for most of us. So always towards north sea facing coasts its going to be feeling cooler. Overnight tonight some of that wind could blow us in some more areas of cloud, i think towards eastern coastal areas further west. Then well see clear skies but mist developing into tomorrow morning but its not so chilly a start, temperatures in mid to high single figures at this time so a milder start to sunday morning than it was earlier on this morning. And that cloud will once again just burn back towards the coast. Could be some cloud lingering for eastern areas of scotland. Its a sunny day, i think, for the western and the Northern Isles on sunday than it was today. Just the small chance of a shower or two popping up across Northern Ireland and the south west of scotland. But even here, temperatures will peak in the late 20s in celsius. The sunshine, higher temperatures the further west you are. Dont forget the sunshine is strong at this time of year. The uv levels will be high and the Grass Pollen Levels are high too and will remain so into next week. Now into monday and not a lot is set to change. High pressure keeps us dry and settled. We do still have that Northeasterly Wind and its likely to blow in some cloud. Were starting off with cloudy conditions, but the cloud again burning back towards the coast as the sunshine gets to work, always breezy towards those north sea facing coasts. The highest temperatures and the most sunshine the further west you are on monday. The same is also true on tuesday when it could be quite a cloudy start for many of us across the south of the uk. As the week wears on, the area of High Pressure, keeping us dry and settled will gradually drift its way further eastwards, introducing more of a South Easterly Wind into southeastern areas of england in particular. So here the temperatures could start to climb and theres a depression out in the atlantic that could give a few showers to the south west of england, too, and possibly a bit more in the way of high cloud. But heres the outlook for our capital cities. As you can see, for the vast majority of us, the sunshine continues and temperatures will start to rise. Live from london. This is bbc news.
