That of lockdown in the hope restrictions could be eased in time for christmas. As cases continue to rise covid safe. We could have got away with a weve been saying and weve been saying it short Circuit Breaker if it had been for about three or four weeks that its really important done earlier but now i think the the government moves quickly numbers are accelerating so fast that there is nothing left in the and does tough lockdowns as quickly as possible because otherwise, armament, in the armoury anymore, the nhs wont have except are really quite a serious the capacity it needs. Ministers have been defending tiered lockdown but please, if were going regional restrictions, to do that, lets get the find, targeting measures in the worst affected areas. Downing street is understood to be looking at a month long form of lot down in the last night, government sources said that the country was at a crunch hope directions could be eased in time for christmas. We have been point, although no final decisions had been made. But it seems increasingly likely saying, and we have been saying it that the Prime Minister could take for about three or four weeks, but the National Action that he was so desperate to avoid. It is really important that Jessica Parker, bbc news. Government moves quickly and does tough lockdowns cast as quickly as possible because otherwise the nhs will not have the capacity it 0ur Political Correspondent helen catt is in our needs. Ministers have been defending london newsroom. Tiered restrictions, targeting the this feels like there has been a big worst areas, labour has called for a shift, doesnt it, because we have short lockdown for england to get the virus under control. Last night been talking about tears and ministers for the past three weeks government sources said the country and heard the labour party say was at a crunch point, although no National Lockdown is what he final decisions had been made. But believes, the Circuit Breaker is what is needed and now these it seems increasingly likely that the Prime Minister could take the documents have been, well, laura National Action that he was so kuenssberg has seen these as well. Desperate to avoid. This is a big moment, no doubt about Jessica Parker, bbc news. 0ur Political Correspondent helen catt is in our that. If you think back to the london newsroom. Lockdown in the spring, and as we started to come out of it over the summer, everything that has been put helen, there is a lot this morning in place since then, things like the rule of six and 10pm curfew and for people to digester, isnt there . Regional tiered system has been done 0ne for people to digester, isnt there . One is this thought that within days, an announcement could come with the aim of not ending up back here. And yet, here we are, looking from Boris Johnson . Days, an announcement could come from borisjohnson . The other is at potentially within days the prime upon what evidence . Absolutely, and minister telling us all to stay at this would mark a significant shift home once again so i think that marks a big shift and i think there from the position that the will be a lot of pressure on boris government has been giving for the johnson to explain how we have got last few weeks, this idea of here and why this shift is now original lockdown, moving to this idea of something more national and happening. He has been adamant over it is certainly a shift and the first people he will need to bring the last few months that a new on board at his own mps and we have National Shutdown would be damaging seen increasing resistance among economically, damaging to Peoples Mental Health so a lot of things to conservative mps through recent weeks to things like the rule of six him to explain, why he is going for who have not been convinced the it. First off he will have to science and ultimately i think if convince his own backbenchers, there borisjohnson science and ultimately i think if Boris Johnson can convince has been a considerable amount of science and ultimately i think if borisjohnson can convince them that the data is there, that this movie resista nce has been a considerable amount of resistance in recent weeks through is necessary, they will come on the party and he will have to board. I think there will be a sense explain why he is making this move of frustration though that this andi explain why he is making this move and i think there will be a sense of feeling that they are constantly frustration at having been marched being marched up one heel only for up frustration at having been marched upa hill frustration at having been marched up a hill one way and the government the government to change course, has changed direction again although downing street would say that is because the situation is evolving, downing street would say the situation is evolving. But when it but it would mark a significant says the situation is evolving, this shift and Boris Johnson but it would mark a significant comes down to this new document, shift and borisjohnson is going to have to work quite hard this doesnt it, helen . What is the weekend, Party Management first and then explaining this change to the Scientific Evidence that has prompted this significant shift, country. Just explain a little bit this move . Two different documents more about this document, seen by they are talking about, one has been the bbc, which is the Scientific Evidence, we understand, the prime circulated around the members of the minister has seen which paints to be Sage Committee which was seen by rishi sunak and borisjohnson, modelling the predictions for the spread of the disease and what it honest, quite a bleak picture of the saysis prospects in the last report next spread of the disease and what it says is that all of their projections are worse than the month or so. This was a document circulated among members of the sage reasonable worst Case Scenario that committee but it comes from another the government had been working on. Group of scientists, and in it it it suggests deaths could reach more says all models suggest a than a000 people a day. If no significantly higher peak than those policies are brought in, which would estimated at any point in the be much higher than the first wave current reasonable worst case backin be much higher than the first wave back in the spring. The other scenario. It says medium picking document looks at the capacity in fictions are expected to be 50 150 hospitals, aced on nhs england greater than those in the first way. Modelling. It wants the health this is what has sparked this shift service would not be able to accept any more patients by christmas, even if the nightingale hospitals, those in policy, so this, as we said, ones held for emergency covid use, circulated around the scientists and this is what has caused the shift. The document wants that in the helen, for the moment, thank you. So we have been south west, the midlands, hospitals could run out of capacity talking a lot this morning about the potentially within a fortnight. Three tiers over the last few weeks warns that. Sea levels rising because of in the american midwest, which is home to some of the most closely contested states a mini tsunami, which there has been in the us election. With just three days to go, 100 after shocks. In turkey, there both candidates are trying to gain support in a last ditch effort to win over undecided voters. Is grief and shock and the gnawing lets speak to our north america correspondent peter bowes now. Hejoins us from la. Fear of when the next big one is coming. Peter, a very good morning to you. I 0rla guerin, bbc news, istanbul. President donald trump do not know how many undecided and his democratic rivaljoe biden have been campaigning voters there are out there but the in the american midwest, race is on to find them . Yes, and which is home to some of the most closely contested states in the us election. Study suggest there are actually with just three days to go, very few undecided voters at this both candidates are trying to gain support in a last ditch effort stage. Some 85 million americans to win over undecided voters. Have already voted over the last few lets speak to our north america days and weeks with just a few days correspondent peter bowes now. Hejoins us from la. To go until the official polling peter, good to see you. Day, a very different american elections, and those midwestern how crucial are these midwestern states like miss what wisconsin and michigan are crucially important states because we cannot stress enough, can we, a close this could to the president because that is where he managed essentially to win be, despite the fact that thousands, the election against Hillary Clinton millions, have already cast their four years ago, pulling off a postal votes. Yes, surprise victory in those places and if you move east out of them midwest millions, have already cast their postalvotes. Yes, good morning to to pennsylvania, still in the you. In fact 85 million americans rustbelt of the united states, that across the country have already is another closely fought race, it voted, which is exceeding all really is on a knife edge there between joe previous records, and of course this really is on a knife edge there betweenjoe biden really is on a knife edge there between joe biden and really is on a knife edge there betweenjoe biden and donald trump at this election, and moving to the election very different to anything that has gone before because of the sunbelt further south and to florida coronavirus and the fact that people and perhaps the biggest prize of the are very keen, in some cases, to get night, 29 Electoral College votes at out and maybe cast their postal sta ke night, 29 Electoral College votes at stake in that state, and that is ballot or, indeed, go to a polling important because this is not a station when it is much quieter, a popularity vote, it is about the few days before election day itself, Electoral College, magic winning so lots of variables that we really line of 270 votes, and the candidate cannot assess and determine how they who wins florida will certainly be are going to affect the results on the day but those midwestern states in pole position at that stage in that you mentioned, those other the night to perhaps to go on and states, areas, that essentially one win the white house but with just a donald trump the last election few days to go, it really is all against Hillary Clinton. He just still to play for in that handful of managed to link it with a small states that could actually sway the majority in some cases so he has to election one way or the other. Win those estates back but it is not peter, for the moment, thank you. Just in the midwest, it is across the country that the president is coming up to 12 minutes past seven. Battling a key state of calls which good morning to you. We have thought about many times the Prime Minister is said to be before, florida, it could go either considering another National Lockdown, which could come way and donald trump really needs to into force within days. Official government documents win florida, he will be back there suggest the government is looking several times over the weekend which at tougher restrictions due to rising infections in england. Isa sign several times over the weekend which is a sign of how important he sees earlier this month, labour leader that particular state. Even some of sir keir starmer called for a short the other Southern States like lockdown in england to bring georgia, there is a question mark infections under control. Were joined by shadow business over georgia as to whether minister, lucy powell. Republicans can hang on there and joe biden is making grounds at this good morning to you and thank you late stage with three or four days for joining good morning to you and thank you forjoining us on breakfast. Are you to go, there is everything to play for. Peter, thank you so much for aware of any conversations that happened between downing street and taking us through that. It is 11 minutes past six. Itjust sir keir starmer or the labour party about the potential announcement of about the potential announcement of a lockdown next week . No, not at turned 12, actually. That is very accurate of you you know what, all, they have not been those sometimes you may be going somewhere conversations and you know, i think and you have a plan and it is good it again here we are, im afraid, to know precisely what the time is. Reading about, you know, what could matt, precise, good, isnt it . Potentially be a significant change perfect, if you are rushing for a in strategy in causing a huge amount train you need to know good of disruption and uncertainty for morning, i hope you are well and you people, reading about that being are at home. A rough weekend on the briefed to the newspapers overnight. Way for many of us weatherwise, we there is no way to communicate such have bouts of heavy rain and strong to gale force winds, could come with things and frankly to run a country. A Flooding Risk and maybe travel and, you know, we have been calling disruption and all of the latest of for this Circuit Breaker for a few course on our website and of course on the app lets show you the bigger weeks now. The whole idea behind a picture because we have this area of Circuit Breaker is that it is a sort cloud, actually two areas ganging of short, sharp period of time to up, but this one is storm aiden named by the irish whether service get the virus under control and, because of the impacts there but it crucially, put in place the test, track and trace that we need to see could cause disruption here. Low pressure spread into northwestern uk but unfortunately the government and the isoba rs pressure spread into northwestern uk and the isobars tightly packed kind of his dithering on this. You across the uk are widespread gales and heavy rain at times. Heavy rain know, a refusal to follow the science. It means we have missed the at the moment northern and western half term holiday when it could have parts of the country. This band of had at most impact and it sounds heavy rain will work its way like it needs to be longer than it eastward through the day so east anglia, south east, you want the would have otherwise had to have been because we are doing it too heaviest into the afternoon but things will brighten in the west, a late. Well, what we understand is washout of the day, it will come and the government was presented with these documents, showing that deaths go in Northern Ireland, western scotla nd go in Northern Ireland, western scotland throughout, and here we will see some of the strongest of could reach more than a000 a day, the winds, we consider top 70 or 80 and these were presented yesterday miles an houraround so the discussions are happening the winds, we consider top 70 or 80 miles an hour around the irish sea into the western half of scotland now. In reaction to that document. But right across the country we will see winds 40 50 miles an hour at with that in mind, considering as times. From the south, it means it you say labour party and sir starmer isa mild times. From the south, it means it is a mild start, mild afternoon have been calling for a circuit although tempered of course by the wrecker, would you agree that a strength of the breeze and of course when the rain comes through. This month long lockdown would be evening the rain continued to the appropriate to be announced next north and west of scotland, clear week, orforgetting skies for a while but the next isle appropriate to be announced next week, or forgetting the announcement, appropriate at this point in time Circuit Breaker. Of wet and windy weather arrives as we go into tomorrow morning so winds announcement, appropriate at this point in time Circuit Breaker. We have been calling for a Circuit Breakerfor under may temporarily ease for a time through the night and then temperatures dipped down to six or have been calling for a Circuit Breaker for under a have been calling for a Circuit Breakerfor under a number of weeks. A month . A month now . Seven in some northern and eastern areas but the wind picks up again u nfortu nately weeks. A month . A month now . Unfortunately because we have left tomorrow. This is the big picture, it so late, you talk about being low pressure, it continues around presented with scientific documents, the government were presented with hurricane zeta, a hurricane that scientific documents back in affected the caribbean a few days september to say that the most ago, a little further away from us effective strategy at that point of the winds tomorrow not as strong. Would be a 2 three week circuit 0utbreaks of the winds tomorrow not as strong. Outbreaks of rain in the morning and breaker. When keir starmer then a brighter spell for scotland, called for that following the Northern Ireland, certainly compared to today. England and wales, cloud science, he was called a political is in place for much of the day, opportunist by the Prime Minister. I outbreaks of rain coming and going mean, you know, that is and heaviest and most persistent unbelievable, really, now, isnt it . Northwest well, north west england, and we could see winds gale force, and because they have delayed that, down a bit on today but later on pursued a different approach, which towards the Western Isles 60 or 70 they have been sticking to for some mile gusts possible once more. Time. Temperatures here, fresher tomorrow across scotland and northern and the approach being they wanted ireland, 9 11 for many. Further to minimise economic damage which they will be if there is full south, another mild one. The mark lockdown . Knight to come across southern areas on sunday night into monday the rain of course, we all want to minimise continues across england and wales economic consequences forjob the and on monday as does a clear way labour party more than anybody. From the south east corner, if you can show as to the north and west and more in the way of drier weather economic consequences forjob the and more in the way of drier weather andi and more in the way of drier weather and i will leave you with a Little Labour Party more than anybody bit of welcome news, after this the issue is, we could have reduced weekends tabular conditions, the impacts of that with a shorter, expecting big things turn drier, less windy but it will feel a bit earlier Circuit Breaker that colder, the mother was side of coincided with the halftime. Now autumn. Back to you both. On cue, what were looking at, weeks, here matt, see you later on. Thank in manchester, we have in tier 2a weeks, we are now entered tier you. Three. Businesses are already on their knees and now were looking at lets take a look at todays papers. An even longer Circuit Breaker. National lockdown looms is the headline for the times. The paper says borisjohnson is considering imposing nationwide really worried about the impact of restrictions from next week, following concerns that surging this for a longer period of time cases could overwhelm the nhs. He had a heart even bigger than was necessary on retail and than the gap in his teeth hospitality. I think the economics, Gary Linekers tribute we are always there. For a short to footballer nobby stiles, Circuit Breaker. To be fair, when who has died, he leads the front of the daily mirror, members of the labour party have been questioned about the circuit with a picture of the world cup winner dominating the page. Breaker, there was never a clear actor sophia loren is on the front amount of time that you are prepared page of the telegraph to stick to. He said it has been following her return to the Silver Screen after more than a decade. The 86 year old is in a new film said, a short Circuit Breaker, 2 directed by her son, and says she could three weeks, could be longer, you need to look at the evidence. Now it work 20 hours a day. Is in place, perhaps talking about all eyes on the us election these what should have happened, could you next few days. Agree that this is the most effective solution from now . Allan 0nline, the miami herald carries a photograph of postal workers asi effective solution from now . Allan as i say, we have been calling for sorting carts of absentee ballots it for a number of weeks so yes, in the swing state of florida. Very important very im porta nt votes very important votes there being absolutely. But i think it is cast. Important, it is not so much a case more than 85 million americans have already cast their vote ahead of what should or could have of tuesdays president ial election. Happened because it really is at a critical point here. Had the what is all on the inside . Mine is government followed that scientific all about size. I have got two evidence over recent weeks and many things that are big. This is a monster wave. Andrew cotton who used of us have had doubts about whether tier three was a sufficient set of to work as a plumber and now he is a measures to have any real impact on professional surferfrom to work as a plumber and now he is a professional surfer from devon. He is 42 and was filmed this week at infections, especially in areas like manchester where we have been under portugals silva coast and this wave, let me see, he reckons it is tier two for such a long period of time and that has had little impact on it. That is why we needed this the fastest he has ever ridden a wave. 7a columbus per hour, 46 mph, short Circuit Breaker but what is critical now is we need to hear from the government, dont we . You cant put these things in the newspapers kilometres. He reckons when he ona put these things in the newspapers was writing this wave, he was riding on a friday into a saturday, causing it at up to 80 kilometres riding. Massive uncertainty for workers and for businesses, we havent heard from the Prime Minister or the chancellor for well over a week now. It is incredible when you see this tiny person. Amazing and my other we need to hear from them today. We need to know what the plans are big thing to bring you is a giant today so people can put those plans spider. I suppose i should have in place. The more uncertainty, that warned people it doesnt exist, has a really damaging impact. What does it . Well, it does, it was would you recommend . We know the thought to be extinct but has been mortgage scheme ends today, furlough rediscovered at an Army Training ends today. If the labour party, if centre. It is the great fox spider and honour wildlife read list has you were at the table, now in been critically endangered and last seenin been critically endangered and last discussions with the conservative seen in 1993. An arachnid expert government, what would you say in terms of what happens to the Morgan Mortgage payments scheme, what from Surrey Wildlife trust has found happens to it . What about the it. It is fascinating. They furlough scheme . How should that corrupted two inches in diameter, transition into what form and what ground dwelling and nocturnal. You support should be given . Well, know i keep keen eye on fashion youre absolutely right to stop this story today couldnt come at a worse trends. A lot of people will be interested in this one. Here is the time than for all these cliff edges thing going into the next season. For people. The furlough scheme what is the next season, autumn . morphing into a less generous the next season will be spring. Scheme. 0ther morphing into a less generous scheme. Other support schemes, the self employed scheme, their support what is the next season, autumn . the next season will be springlj think, if you are thinking about it, reduced to a0 from originally 18 blazers and a facebook, blazers. It and a 70 80 and 70 . This is a really worrying time for people. We have said that the support scheme is called ladies who lunch lemon should support people to 80 of yellow buckled jacket paired with their previous earnings, as was the case before and i think weve got to distressed luh jeans and then the look at these things because if it baseball cap on the top is the. Was right in march and april to support businesses and support cani baseball cap on the top is the. Can ijust baseball cap on the top is the. Can i just say, baseball cap on the top is the. Can ijust say, can ijust say, our workers through these lockdown cameraman and our floor can ijust say, can ijust say, our cameraman and ourfloor manager are measures bennetts got to be the literally crying with laughter at right thing to do today as well. You describing this and this being what you think, to discuss this thenit right thing to do today as well. Then it has got to be the right thing. So you would reinstate furlough back to 80 of workers. Morning. The thing with baseball caps, there is this debate in my head anyway about how a baseball cap should fit. You have the ones that are should fit. You have the ones that a re really should fit. You have the ones that would the mortgage repayment system are really big, perhaps to fit or be reinstated today . We have to look how is a bigger hair and then ones at that today. I apologise for that are really titles up i talking over you crosstalk. You must personally would go for a smaller have a thought on this because you baseball cap. I dont know what you say this is a crucial time, a would go for. Well, i know age terrible time for this to happen, as should go for no part but i think it will be for many people so rather than say we would have to look at there is a certain age for a it, what are your thoughts on the baseball cap. Do you know what i mortgage Payment Scheme which ends mean . Im literally not going to put today. Would you extend it . Yes, we ona mean . Im literally not going to put on a jeanette, im just putting that thought out there because sometimes should extended and than that. What you just think, no. We need to say today is we need to thought out there because sometimes youjust think, no. Loads of thought out there because sometimes you just think, no. Loads of people look at the scheme of supports, love wearing them, publicly. Well, mortgage payments for those who were they would be bang on fashion, on universal credit as well because pa rent they would be bang on fashion, parent with a lemon yellow blazer, ta ke parent with a lemon yellow blazer, there is a very long time delay in take note. Time now for this that scheme and that is giving many people worry about keeping their weeks film review. Homes and paying their mortgages was not the government said it would do whatever it takes back in march. The Prime Minister talks about putting a hello and welcome to the film review bigger arm around the shoulder of with me, mark kermode, the economy. They need to live up to rounding up the best movies available for viewing in cinemas that rhetoric and that means and in the home. Supporting the economy today, supporting the economy today, supporting workers, supporting peoples livelihoods and lives because that is the only way that these Circuit Breakers and measures will actually work because what in the terrific new brit pic weve seen over recent months, not mogul mowgli, riz ahmed plays zed, just that failure of test, track and a british pakistani rapper on the brink of his first world trace but people that were unable to tour. Self isolate because they can not afford what comes with that. The two he raps. Things come hand in hand. The public cheering. Very sad news that nobby digging through concrete blocks, stiles has passed away. He was so looking for survivors of the earthquake that struck there yesterday. At least 26 people are now well liked, loved in fact, and he understood to have died, including two on the nearby was known as happy because he was greek island of samos. That sort of personality and i think most peoples emery of him is him President Donald Trump and his democratic rivaljoe biden dancing around the pitch with the have been campaigning glee on his face and of course but in the american midwest, with just a few days to go before in his teeth as well and as you can the president ial election. Imagine, tributes have been flooding in after his death at the age of 78. Trump visited michigan and wisconsin states which he won by less stiles played every minute than 1 in 2016. Of englands victorious 1966 world cup campaign, and he would go on to win a european cup with his boyhood club biden also visited the region, Manchester United two years later. Commentator i have never seen nobby stiles like this before thatjig of delight ensured it is 33 minutes past seven and jane nobby stiles place in footballing folklore. Has the sport for us this morning and some sad news . It is a sad day its nice, because people for football actually. Another one remember you for it. And they say, oh, yeah, of englandss world cup winning i remember yourjig, and they pass tea m of englandss World Cup Winning Team passing away. It onto their children and whatever. And so when its seen, tributes have been flooding in for nobby stiles, its nice because, teeth or no who has died at the age of 78. Teeth, it doesnt matter. You know, it was just the total stiles played a key role throughout enjoyment which i was doing. The 1966 world cup campaign. But his talent had been he also went on to lift a long time in the making, the european cup in 1968 with Manchester United, where from his early years he made almost a00 appearances. Growing up in manchester they say he is a titan through to a debut for englands schoolboys at 15. Of the clubs history while fellow and in 1960, manchester world cup winner geoff hurst united came calling. Called him the heart and soul of the team going on to say what a goal hell be sorely missed. He could score but, above all, he could tackle. And his fearlessness brought him to englands attention. He wasjust a in 1965, he was called up he was just a real character and obviously he was an old school type by sir alf ramsey and in february 1966, he scored his first of player, a hard man, taking people like you did in the semifinal and he and only international goal. Stiles scored is probably the sort of player that would actually struggle in the a few months later, he was part modern game with the changes in the amount of fouls he would give away of the team hoping to take england and, you know, in those days of to world cup glory, and stiles brave and often brilliant challenges course you could be a lot more physical but you know, a great helped england to become champions. The image of him dancing around player and play a huge heart and he wembley trophy in one hand, false teeth in the other will be seriously missed. Is one he, like everyone else, could never forget. Wolves have continued their impressive start to the premier league season, moving joint top after a 2 0 win he had a heart that was probably over Crystal Palace at molineux. As big as the gap in his teeth. Teenager rayan ait nouri scored on his wolves debut to give them he was just a real character the lead with this strike after 18 minutes. And obviously he was an old school portuguese winger Daniel Podence type of player, a hard man. Doubled the hosts advantage nine minutes later. And that grit also helped wolves are level on points Manchester United to with leaders everton and champions the european cup in 1968. Liverpool, who both behind that cheery demeanour, have a game in hand. Stiles was pure steel. He was fun to be around and on the pitch, it was the mens six nations a different matter. Will be decided today, seven months later than originally scheduled, with england, you know, it was all ireland and france still about winning the game. In with a chance of winning he was a bit of a jekyll and hyde the title on the final day. Really, if you think about it. England are second in the table and play italy in rome this when he went on the pitch, afternoon, knowing a bonus point win he sort of changed and he had a job will give them the best chance to do and he did it, did it so well. Of another six nations crown. Following that, its top stiles never enjoyed of the table ireland against france. By that point, both sides will know the riches his achievements deserved, ultimately whats required to win the title. Selling his medals to raise money for his family. England captain 0wen farrell says all they can do is concentrate on themselves. But while others may have attracted more headlines, few inspired as much affection as nobby stiles, the man whose pure euphoria once captured a countrys imagination. We need to go over there and put lets look at just some of the tributes. Sir geoff hurst, team mate from that ourselves in the best place possible, come kick off, first, and world cup winning side, says hes then and then we obviously need to be disciplined in the way that we hugely sad to hear play and obviously, all the nobby has passed away. Great character, and the heart and soul of the team, he will be sorely missed. Normally, all than all the good Manchester United say he was an integral part of our first ever european cup winning side. Stuff that Everyone Wants to see off nobby was a titan of the clubs the back of the hardware comes off history, cherished for his heart early doors so we need to make sure and personality on and off the pitch. He will be sorely missed by us all. We do the best things really well. The early game between wales and scotland will see a bit of rugby history made as wales captain alun wynjones plays his 1a9th test and the former united match, making him the most capped player gary neville has also posted a picture of them together. He added a quote from stiles hopefully the experiences that i your studs are your best friends out there. Stiles was known for have had have improved me, you know, his tough tackling. Iam very have had have improved me, you know, i am very conscious that people say we have not played abroad domestically and we have not done nobby stiles, who have died at the this, that and that but ultimately, age of 78. Who has. You know, i enjoyed what i do, where wolves arejoint top idoit of the premier league after a 2 0 you know, i enjoyed what i do, where i do it and im conscious, you know, win over Crystal Palace at molineux. Teenager rayan ait nouri scored on his wolves debut to give them of how finite a career in sport is the lead with this strike after 18 minutes. A nyway of how finite a career in sport is anyway so yeah, hopefully ive portuguese winger Daniel Podence changed not too much as a person but doubled the hosts advantage nine minutes later. Wolves are level on points i have improved as a professional. With leaders everton and champions there was a huge shock liverpool, who both in the quarterfinals of the vienna 0pen as world number have a game in hand. One Novak Djokovic crashed out. Along with ireland and france, both of whom face each other it is the first time djokovic has at the stade de france. Just before i go, or that donald trump has four more the full moon, nicely timed with years in the white house or that halloween. It is a blue moon so if votes are still being counted, you get a few clear skies for a time and were weeks away tonight, have a look up and enjoy. From having a final result. A blue moon. That is the saying pouring over the numbers will be because they are rare. We normally jon sopel, emily maitlis, and Anthony Zurcher from americast. Here are the three of them on last weeks show, dissecting the final debate between the two candidates. Have 12 full means year and rarely yes, donald trump did have a better debate. We get 13. It is the blue moon. I think the mute button helped tone him down blue moon. Lets take a look at this in addition to all the advice weeks travel show. He was getting about not this week on the show. Interrupting, but the debate kicked are uk staycations still off Withjoe Biden hammering home an option if youre desperate that message and when you look for a break right now . At polls, a majority theres a risk, we just dont of americans are mostly focused know whether these restrictions on the coronavirus are still going to be in place when theyre voting. This is the top issue. By christmas, we dont know once again, very early on, if they might get tighter. Joe biden drew blood on it. Yeah, and i think, zurch, youre right. The bar was set incredibly low this time because hed had a terrible debate three weeks ago, he had been the predominant interrupter right the way through berlins big boar problems. More than 73 times. And for that reason, they introduced the mute button. Ive come to woolacombe americast has been podcasting bay holiday park since january, but as of a couple on the devon coast. Of weeks ago also appears on radio a the weather might not be up to much today but the seaside and on the bbc news channel. Below is regularly named among its gone down well with its various the uks top beaches. Audiences, with one listener, now currently, this is in tier one, the medium philip, describing it as. Risk category under westminsters covid rankings. But as weve discussed before on newswatch, the devolved parliaments there have been wider criticisms in scotland, wales, about the bbcs coverage of the us and Northern Ireland have each issued their own guidance. President ial election. In england, the medium risk tier means a 10pm curfew julie king wrote to us for pubs and restaurants and the rule of six this week to say. Applies inside and out. Travel is permitted. And i have to say right now, it feels pretty normal. You feel really safe, youve and paul lamb objected got all the hand sanitisers, everybody is wearing masks, to what he called. Weve got all signs to wear masks, weve got all the qr codes so you can scan where you have been. And it does feel quite safe. With all these hygiene measures, do you think it has affected your holiday at all . No, not really. In some areas its made it a lot easier, to be fair. Theres not so many queues, you dont have to go to the bar fighting to get served. In that way, its a lot easier. Did you check about which covid risk tier this was in, did you do your research . Not so Much Research but looking at a map well, weve been speaking to of the country, you can clearly the editor of americast dino sofos, see coming further down about how he puts the programme south is a little bit safer on air, and what the pros than going more up north. And cons are of putting we were actually meant to be a podcast on television. Podcasting is such an an exciting in portugal this week. Format for Current Affairs and thats what you see the bbc but obviously, for quarantine reasons, we decided england is expanding its podcast portfolio. Was a safer bet, really. Obviously, we cant go abroad. We wouldve liked to have gone hello and welcome to our podcast abroad both of us being which now seems to have teachers having our half term. Moving pictures as well but we couldnt but actually it by the wonders of technology. Has just been lovely i think that people really and the weather has been appreciate the informal actually nice, and it is style on television. A beautiful setting. So, yeah. So, you rediscovered the uk . I also added a programme called yeah, its been lovely isnt it . Yeah, it is a really newscast which was called brexitcast nice place to come. And we took at the television yeah. Over the summer, there was much talk of a surge and audiences really, in so called staycations. Really responded well to just injuly, one of the uks big watching correspondents they see cottage rental sites reported a 53 year on year rise in bookings. On the 10 00 news or hear on the today Programme Every day but rudi is careful to play being just informal, undoing their top button, kicking off their shoes and just down talk of a covid boon. Talking in a kind of normal and informal way they would talk to their friends down the pub being closed for half a season and i think thats a really, i wouldnt call a benefit but when we were actually really great format and a great way allowed to open from the ath ofjuly, clearly we could have let the accommodation to convey information and to get that we had three orfour times over. Into the nitty gritty of the story, we certainly have seen without using too much jargon. Customers that we have not seen its a really intimate format. Before, those people who would have been taking a two week holiday abroad have been exchanging that for a two week holiday when you listen to a podcast, its notjust like putting the radio on and you listen now in the uk. To whatever is on at that time. Holiday resorts up and down the country have brought in a range of Safety Measures youre specifically choosing from reducing capacity to click on something on the bbc sounds app to introducing timed slots and spent half an hour with that presenter or group for leisure facilities. Of presenters listening to a specific story or a specific we limit the numbers that can go into the swimming pools. You have to pre book that. Episode of a podcast. And things like our soft play area here remain closed all this summer. And that gives us, i think, thats a real privilege. But now as coronavirus cases we know we are kind of talking into your ears arise nationwide by drawing while you are on the train people from different areas, or on your car stereo or some do these parks risk of our listeners say they listen spreading the virus . To us as they are nodding off to sleep. Its really intimate and allows us to have a conversation well, of course were with the audience. Concerned about it. The coronavirus podcast from the but weve been operating now since the ath ofjuly bbc. Without any cases. Again, during the pandemic, but i feel that provided we have had so many people come to us with stories, everybody sticks to all it is a great way of generating the covid secu re measurements that weve put in place, content, so i feel like weve we can prevent any cases created a real community, that is what podcasting arising in the area. Allows you to do. And the other benefit is we dont have the time constraints that residents in some tourist hotspots have raised concerns you sometimes have on the 10pm news so when Laura Kuenssberg has two about their communities minutes talking to huw edwards at the top of the ten oclock news, becoming overcrowded she then comes into the newscast studio and we have half an hour for her to elaborate on the story while at a few of the larger chain resorts, there have been of the day and she can come reports that distancing hasnt in and open her notebook and kind of tell the audience all the things shes learned that day talking to her sources. So i think, youre not getting that always been properly managed. Anywhere else really on the bbc. It is really fabulous, it is very simple. The most important thing is it is authentic. Were not putting it on. When jon and emily, a number have been forced to shut their doors because of coronavirus restrictions. Haven and pontins are among the companies to have announced who are old colleagues, some temporary closures in certain high risk areas. Ros pritchard of the British Holiday Home Parks Association represents 3,000 businesses around the uk including they used to present on the news campsites, caravan parks channel a long time ago and even some glamping spots. And know each other, she says overall, the ones that so when they talk off air and switch the cameras or microphones, remain open are safe. Thats just how they talk each other. As you would do when you would talk about a serious subject because its in the businesss interest to protect everybody, so on newscast, we often have their staff, the local to cover stories such community, their as the terrorist attack in nice holiday makers, your units accommodation whether in a tent and of course our tone alters. Or in a holiday caravan its not always jokes are 5 6 metres apart and families are kept socially and jollity and laughter. We do adjust our tone accordingly. Distant by design. I have a simple question, why are swing states swing states . We have a format on americast the rest is actually called americanswer, quite simple. Its about giving a really cheesy pun. People the opportunity to wash their hands. Its about ensuring social distancing, and its about but we have hundreds of questions cleaning and cleaning again. Coming in each week from our audience. But theres another issue. For example, lots of questions even if you decide that its coming in with people asking safe enough to holiday us about hunter biden, joe bidens sons e mails in one of these parks and the New York Post with the guidelines constantly story and whether there changing, what happens was anything in that. If youre then from travelling . And that is moving up the sort the restrictions vary across the uk. At the moment, their most of story that is leading the news severe in wales where agenda every day and something nonessential travel during the fire break Lockdown People are interested is expressly forbidden. Are in and want to know about. But elsewhere, making sure we have a format wherejon and emily you are following the right guidance can be tricky. Can spend 20 minutes talking about that in great detail. Thank you, all of you, for being with us. 0ur listeners keep e mailing us saying we really hope this isnt you need to check the rules for the end in americast in a weeks time. The area that you are living we will continue doing it for at in and also the area least until inauguration i think you are travelling to and then we will have to see. And the best thing to do is to speak to the holiday but that is another great thing is that if there is something provider, explained to them where you are coming from, to say in this space, see what the restrictions well continue doing the podcasts are in their area, get them and when its the right to have a look at your booking, time to stop doing it, and see whether they think well stop doing it. Youre still within brexitcast eventually the law and then decide transitioned into newscast whether you still want to go and well have to see what happens on the holiday. And as i say, most of them with americast eventually. Are being flexible so that but for the time being, if you cant take the holiday, we think its really got a future. They will give you a refund do let us know your thoughts on next or allow you to delay your weeks coverage of the election holiday until a later date, in the united states, maybe into next year. Or on any aspect of bbc news were approaching december and christmas time and people like to take holidays. Details of how to contact us at the end of the programme. So would you recommend that they book a staycation now . Now for some of your other well, people are obviously concerns this week. Desperate for the holidays impartiality has always been and particularly over considered one of the main goals christmas. So, if you are booking of bbc news, and this week now, theres a risk. The corporation released some new guidance on how the concept we just dont know whether these restrictions are still going to be in place should be applied in practice, laying out limits on by christmas, we dont know whether they might when and how staff get even tighter. So, if you are going to book especially news journalists a staycation, then make sure should make their personal opinions its a flexible cancellation public, either on social media policy is so you can or by going on marches cancel and get a full or demonstrations, for instance. Refund closer to the time. Thats all you can do there has been much debate over whether the guidelines would prevent staff from attending equality events really at the moment. Such as pride, although the bbc has said no one is banned from doing so, and we plan to discuss this with a bbc executive on next weeks programme. In the meantime here is a taste of the reaction, its 6am in the forests with rebekah posting this. Of southeastern berlin. Its home to a beast thats been causing uproar in germany this summer. It all began in may with a group of boars visiting the suburbs and continued in a nudist area in western berlin. Images of both instances quickly went viral. Are these tracks, or . Many news bulletins now contain vox nothing yet. Pops, short clips of members of the public being asked boars are nocturnal creatures so we are up at dawn to try and spot them. So weve gone a bit deeper for their views on the restrictions into the forest where its a bit thicker. Although elusive this morning, boars have been known to dig up football fields, programme, attack dogs and on rare on the restrictions occasions, even humans. Imposed on them because of covid 19. One such contribution from the end of last week, from Maureen Eames in barnsley, made more impact than most. And after an outspoken vox pop with her on thursday, so are the boar dangerous . Bbc news went back to her last friday to hear more of her opinions. If we give one a fright, shes become a bit will they charge us, or . Of a celebrity since. A parish councillor for nearly 50 in a direct encounter, they can years, she remains sceptical of course be dangerous. About further measures they may have up to 200 in her hometown. Kilograms of weight but usually lockdown will finish and then well they just try to avoid us. Be back again for a few weeks, although no one knows the exact figure, over 1,000 boars and then well be back to lockdown, we cant afford it. Are thought to live in berlin. Is it not worth it to save lives . But youre not saving lives and with around 20 of the city covered in forests, theyve got because theres other people dying of other things plenty of space to run. More people dying than covid. Maureens thoughts were given a wide we can see one of their airing across bbc news and on elsewhere on social media favourite food sources, acorns. Too wide for some viewers, including andrew western, who wrote last friday. And there could be a boar nowjust ten metres in front of us and you wouldnt see it. They are well camouflaged. But still its amazing that such a big animal is able to kind of disappear right and Margaret Reece added. In front of our eyes. Although forests provide ideal shelter, boars survive in urban areas, too. And this year, like the rest of us, theyve this years christmas gatherings may adapted to a new normal. In the beginning of be smaller scale than normal, the lockdown in germany, because at the moment, there were wildlife just in england, the rule of six entering city areas using spaces that they usually makes it illegal for more were not using because of human presence. Than six people to meet up. Recently Victoria Derbyshire gave an interview to the radio times, so, no sign of any boar. In which she said she would break actually, we have the sign of a boar. That rule, so that her family we have a sign of a boar . Yeah, we have traces there. Could celebrate christmas together, lets have a look. Her comments offended a number yep. 0k. Of people, including the townsend what you see here family, who emailed. Is very typical. So, you can imagine why they can cause a lot of damage to public green spaces when you see that. You think youre going tracking animals, its well, after the interview came to light, on tuesday Victoria Derbyshire posted a tweet, saying. Going to be like tiny little paw prints, footprints. No, just absolute chaos when it comes to finding food, boars are known to be resourceful. And unlike other urban wildlife, they dontjust dig through the rubbish bins. Instead, theyve discovered a more productive way. So i was sitting the whole day on the computer and i thought and when i came out of the lake, then i saw these boars. And i wanted to take a picture. So the boar came and grabbed thank you for all your this yellow bag and i didnt comments this week. Know but the man said, this is my computer if you want to share your opinions and he just ran. Rescue teams search for survivors after a powerful earthquake hits turkey and greece. The devastation leaves at least 26 people dead. Just three days to go donald trump and Joe Biden Campaign in the american midwest, where polls suggest several states could go either way. He will be sorely missed. Another of englands world cup wining team has passed away. Nobby stiles has died at the age of 78 after a long illness. Former team mate sir geoff hurst said he was the heart and soul of the team. Sir lenny henry tells us more diversity is needed in literature and why he enjoys writing for children. I love sitting in my pants, writing thats my favourite thing. And i think thats what im gonna be doing for the next three years it may have been named by the Irish Weather Service, but storm aden could travel and weather disruption here. I will have all the details. Its saturday, october 31st. Our top story. A new nationwide lockdown for england is being considered by ministers and could be announced within days. Government documents seen by the bbc suggest the uk is on course for significantly more deaths than during the first wave of the pandemic. Scientists warn the death toll could hit a,000 people a day. Downing street says a final decision is yet to be taken, though its thought schools and universities would stay open. Boris johnson is now considering issuing a stay at home message as early as monday. Labour say it should have come sooner. 0ur Political Correspondent Jessica Parker reports. To stay at home, protect our nhs and save lives. Remember back in the spring . Stay at home was the message and borisjohnsons now understood to be considering bringing in that instruction for england again. However, it wouldnt be the same overall. This time, schools, colleges and universities would stay open. Official government documents seen by the bbc suggest the country is on course for a significantly higher death toll in the second wave of covid than the first, unless there are further restrictions. That as cases continue to rise. We could have got away with a shorter Circuit Breaker if it had been done earlier, but now i think the numbers are accelerating so fast that there is nothing left in the armoury any more, except a really quite a serious lockdown. But, please, if were going to do that, lets get test trace and support system fixed during that lockdown. Downing streets understood to be looking at a month long form of lockdown, in the hope restrictions could be eased in time for christmas. Weve saying and we have been saying it for about three or four weeks that its really important the government moves quickly and does tough lockdowns as quickly as possible, because otherwise the nhs wont have the capacity it needs. Ministers have been defending tiered regional restrictions targeting measures in the worst affected areas, labour has called for a short lockdown for england to get the virus under control. We have been calling for this Circuit Breaker for a few weeks, but the governments dithering on this, refusal to follow the science now means we have missed the half term holiday when it could have had the most impact and it sounds like it will have to be longer than it would otherwise had to have been. Last night government sources said that the country was at the crunch point, although no final decisions have been made. But it seems increasingly likely that the Prime Minister could take the National Action that he was so desperate to avoid. 0ur Political Correspondent helen catt is in our london newsroom. Anyone listening to our programme this morning will be thinking two things, is there about to be in a matter of days, a major announcement from the Prime Minister about a National Lockdown and if so, why . So it does sound like that is increasingly likely that we would hear from the increasingly likely that we would hearfrom the government increasingly likely that we would hear from the government within a few days, an order to stay at home. Something like that lockdown that we we re Something Like that lockdown that we were in in spring, although schools, universities and colleges would stay open. No final decision has been made. But that sounds like where we are moving towards. That would be a big shift in government policy. Everything that has been done since we started to come out of the lockdown measures in the summer has been to try to avoid getting back here. Things like the rule of six and the 10pm curfew and the regional tier system has been to try and avoid this, when labour has been pushing the idea of a two week circuit break and the government has been resisting that, borisjohnson said it would be like turning off the lights. So this would be a really big shift. It is going to ta ke really big shift. It is going to take some explaining over the coming days. Why . Well it sounds because it is because of the data that has been presented to government that Boris Johnson has seen and the chancellor has seen, which suggests the likely path of the virus and the way it is going to spread is worse than it, the worst Case Scenario, so that does seem to have provided that shift. Also there is a second set of documents looking at Hospital Capacity that suggests even with the nightingale hospitals full, we could have hospitals could not keep taking patients by christmas. This prompted that move. But this will take a lot of explaining for borisjohnson, because it is such a shift away. Although downing street has said it will move if the situation changes. Thank you. Time to find out what is happening in the weather. Youre in a halloweeny mood. Dont spoil the surprise. I didnt say anything. True. Neither did i some unsettled conditions. Not too bad at the moment in calderdale. The sunshine fleeting, because there is rain on the way and strengthening winds. There could be a risk of flooding in Western Areas and travel disruption. Maybe problems on the ferries as well. This area of cloud, we have two working their way in. This one staid is storm aidan. It will push these fronts across the uk and strengthen the winds. We have seen plenty of rain in scotland and Northern Ireland and a batch of heavy rain with some short bursts of intense rain and gusty winds. Before the winds ease and the sunshine comes out. So it wont be a wash out. Brightening up in the north and east of scotland. West of scotla nd north and east of scotland. West of scotland and Northern Ireland cloudy and further rain and from the irish sea through to western scotland the strongest winds. They could strengthen this afternoon up to 70mph. It leads into a mild day, but the wind will temper the feel. Tonight clear skies and showers continue to fade. Rain eases from northern scotland. But after a slow easing of the winds, they will pick up easing of the winds, they will pick up again into tomorrow morning. More rain to come. But it means it shouldnt be too cold tonight. Temperatures six degrees in scotland and Northern England. Tomorrow, the next area of low pressure arrives. This contain it is remnants of hurricane zita. The winds not as strong. Scotland and Northern Ireland see more brighter weather tomorrow with a few showers. Before cloud increases and more rain later on. But for england and wales, the cloud will sit in place rain at times, heaviest in the west and winds close to gale force. The strongest in the Western Isles at 70 or 80mph. Cooler for scotland and Northern Ireland with temperatures around 11 degrees. All of us cooler into the start of next week. Rain clear prs the south east through the first part of monday with showers in the west and next week a bit of optimism, things looking quiet, drier and brighter, but colder. The governments furlough scheme ends today. It was designed to keep employees in theirjobs while vast swathes of the economy were shut down lets take a look at the numbers. The scheme launched in march, and nine and a half million workers were furloughed while the government paid 60 of their wages. Their bosses paid 20 . The less generous job support scheme which replaces it, is designed to support firms by paying towards the wages of employees on reduced hours. During the new six month long scheme, the government will pick up 62 of the pay for the time staff arent working, while the employer puts in 5 . In a moment well talk to representatives from the hospitality sector and the federation of Small Businesses, but first katy austin has been to meet some Business Owners as the scheme winds down. Celebrations, gigs and shows all needs need lighting. Before coronavirus, this company, white light, was doing booming business, but half its work has disappeared. The furlough scheme was an absolute life saver. That friday it was announced, i pretty much was close to tears. We were looking at making 200 people redundant. The government wage subsidy meant redundancies could be kept to around 90. Now, with many live events still not possible, the newjob support scheme should prevent furtherjob losses. We used to have 85 staff working in the two warehouses. We think weve only got enough work for about 25. Butjss means we can actually keep a5 staff on working part time, which means that weve got those a5 Skilled Staff when the work comes back in the new year. And brian says the cash Bonus Available for keeping on furloughed workers through to january will be an extra help. Ive worked here just over 32 years. Andrew has been on part time furlough and will go straight on to thejss. It means a lot. Job security is everything to me. Especially in the industry that i love. And ive worked for for so long. Another industry which has already shed jobs and businesses is hospitality. Tampopo has two restaurants in london and four in manchester. Theyre still serving, but under new restrictions their takings are 30 of last year. The hours have been cut dramatically. They have seen a massive difference in how much money theyre making. Its very difficult times at the moment, for anyone in hospitality. The boss david has already closed one restaurant after failing to reach an agreement with the landlord. The job support scheme though is welcomed. The restaurant that ive closed ive got three chefs that i need to find work for. And ive got one Position Available at another site. So i would be able to employ all three of them to work this that position. In that position. Businesses which are forced to close because of government coronavirus restrictions can can use a different version of thejob support scheme. The government will fund two thirds of staff wages for those firms like this brewery in nottingham. We dont think it will be enough. We have just got to wait and see, but every little hopes but every little helps and the Government Support is the only reason were still here. An economist told me it is likely more people will end up out of work. Were forecasting unemployment will rise to 5. 9 and that compares to 3. 9 before this crisis began. Its maybe not quite as high as it would have been had the government not announced the job support scheme, but the worry of course is what happens next year. Not all sectors will need more help, but there are signs the shine has come off the summers bounce back and Companies Like these trying to be optimistic are far from certain the pain is over. Lets speak to Kate Nicholls from uk hospitality, and to mike cherry from the federation for Small Businesses. Good morning to you both. Mike, im suspecting that in between the time that we spoke to you yesterday and booked you to come into talk to us today, you have been looking at the news that has been coming out about a possible announcement next week about a National Lockdown, because of new scientific statistics. When you hear that, given the people you represent, what do you think . think it is incredibly frustrating and we all accept the health issues, but businesses across the uk have spent thousands in making sure that their premises are safe and their employees and for their customers. So it is with a bit of trepidation that we see what the government is proposing for a National Lockdown. We believe the tiers are working to keep businesses and the economy running, but there are problems within that. Even with the welcome news and the a adaptation that the chancellor announced with the new job support scheme last week. Keep with that theme, if it is the case and the bbc understands it is expected to be an announcement next week, if that is the case, what would you expect on top of what is in existence in terms of financial help for the people you represent . We have heard already that the two thirdsjob support we have heard already that the two thirds job support is we have heard already that the two thirdsjob support is probably not going to be enough, but there is wider implications that have been a problem for many businesses behind those in retail, hospitality and leisure in the supply chains n food wholesalers and others who have not been able to access the Business Rates holidays, the Business Rates grants that the high street has been able to have given to it and those businesses are the ones that have probably borrowed up to the hilt and are facing a crunch time in being able to survive through this to come out the other side and it will be Small Businesses that will be at the heart of the our economic recovery once we get through this. Kate nichols, you would have seen the same front pages and the news coming out of downing street that, we understand that the National Lockdown will be announced, could be announced next week. What would be the implication immediately for your industry . Well it would be devastating. Already we know one in four of our businesses have not been able t re open. Resilience is at rock bottom. If we are to get through a further lockdown in hospitality and hospitality will bear the brunt of restrictions and bear the brunt of restrictions and be unable to trade, we are going to need significant additional help in order to get through this. As mike said, people have borrowed up to the hilt, people have spent money to get covid secure. There is no Spare Capacity in the tank to fund a lockdown even for three to four weeks. Do you understand, do you have any understanding or any indications been given to you about. Exactly which businesses will have to be shut, is it all pubs and restaurants, hotels etc . Unfortunately we have no more information than we read in the newspapers. It is frustrating for businesses in a fresh food supply chain, where you are buying stock already, if we are facing a lockdown on monday, that is millions pound worth of lost stock. We dont know which businesses will be affected, how to plan for our teams and we have guidance that only came in yesterday for the job support scheme. It is an anxious time for our businesses, who are trying their best to give people theirjob security to look to the future and we need certainty about what is happen and funding to get through this and restart the economy when we come out the other side. The governmentfthis come out the other side. The government f this is announced, this is in reaction to the latest data, what lag time, what warning period do businesses need . What lag time, what warning period do businesses need . Would anything be enough . Anything is better than nothing. If we are going to have an announcement on monday, we need a weeks notice to close premises safely. It was a difficult situation closing them over a period of two days. Businesses need that southernty that it will be a certainty that it will be a short lockdown and they have support to get through the period, otherwise i fearjob losses and business failure. Mike, picking up on that theme about the way you get the information, the clarity of message, i know the government has always said theyre reacting to things, theyre unprecedented said theyre reacting to things, they re unprecedented things said theyre reacting to things, theyre unprecedented things and there are complications, what are your members telling you about the clarity of message . Especially bearing what we are hearing today . think the messaging is confusing, we have had different messages coming throughout this crisis so far and i think we do need to see a strong message of what things are being put in place, what is being put in place as kate said to see a route out of this so businesses can do something to plan aled for their future ahead for their future. But the fundamental is getting more support through to businesses so we can get jobs protected and more businesses through to the other side. Mike, the federation of Small Businesses and various industry bodies have been involved in conversations in the past, what note if i casing have you o notification do you need and what are you expecting from the government as this is out now in the media . We have had different communication for different sectors, that goes without saying. We have had very good communication with the government, but it has been too short notice to enable businesses to plan ahead. Businesses that have spent thousands are safe places for employees and for customers and we needin employees and for customers and we need in some way to keep the economy going, whilst we get through this crisis into the other side next summer hopefully. On a practical level, people remember not being able to get a hair cut, what would you say to people, go out and get it, because those industries are going to be closed . Obviously, if hair dressing has to shut again, people cant do that. Clearly making sure that people have enough confidence to support their Small Businesses through this crisis is key to the messaging that needs to come from government and all of us. Thank you. Lets return to our top story now. A new nationwide lockdown for england is being considered by ministers and could be announced within days. The rethink comes after documents, seen by the bbc, suggest the uk is on course for significantly more deaths than during the first wave of the pandemic, unless strict measures are imposed. Professor calum semple is an Infectious Disease expert, who sits on the governments Sage Committee thats the Scientific Advisory group for emergencies, although hes talking to us in a personal capacity. Good morning to you and thank you for your time today. We understand the bbc has seen some of this new data and we understand the ministers are looking at the new data. Can you put this in context fors . Because the notion is the numbers now in terms of growth of virus is accelerating so fast something has to happen. Could you explain the acceleration of coronavirus right now . So the rate of acceleration if anything is slower than in the first wave, but it is more widespread and it is coming at a higher level. So the tiered approach to restrictions hasnt worked particularly well. So for example take liverpool, although cases are not increasing at the same rate in the community, we have started to see hospital admissions above the rate that we saw in the first wave. And the rest of the country is now playing catch up and coming up to these higher levels, so the south and south east is relatively spared, but what theyre observing in liverpool and manchester are high rates of transmission and then very high rates of admission into hospital and thatis rates of admission into hospital and that is eating into the capacity to conduct over essential parts of surgery. But this is no longer a binary situation where youre either protecting the health and harming the economy, levels of sickness in the economy, levels of sickness in the community are starting to rise to the point where sickness within the community will also affect the economy. So can you explain the modelling under the latest figures the government is assessing. 0ne reading of this is that we had previously what is called, deemed a reasonable worst Case Scenario, that is bad, but reasonable, which means it was possible, or maybe likely it might happen. As i understand it, all the modelling, all the scenarios in is in new data, are all worse than the reasonable worst Case Scenario previously. Is that correct . That is correct. Im responsible for collecting hospital data, that is the work i do, im not the modeller, but i do get to see the modeller, but i do get to see the data. All the models are saying that what we are seeing at the moment is worse than the worst Case Scenario and we have to move from thinking of this as just simply a model, as a height thetical hypothetical, theyre talking of real data and looking to what is going to happen in the next couple of weeks based on what we know are our infections in the communities and will result in hospital admissions and deaths. So this is not a hypothetical model, it is a projection based on what we know has happened before and what we know is happening now. Do you so taking it on from that position you paint there, compare and contrast the tiered regional system we have now, if that would carry on, as compared with, and we have not had this confirmed yet, but it is many papers today are suggesting next week some form of National Lockdown would be reimposed, so can you compare and contrast under the scenarios that we have painted in this new data, staying as we are, the system we have got, compared with something above and beyond that, closer to what we had back in march. Ok, that is quite an exam question. So, the tiered approach essentially allows retail and other Economic Activity to continue, mainly unchanged, and limited social mixing. Thats very different from the lockdown and a Circuit Breaker is another word for a short lockdown. We know that these lockdown is work because that is what broke the back of the first wave. However, the tiered approach has not had the same impact that we would want. Even in merseyside, where we have had the highest level, we are onlyjust starting to see a reduction in the acceleration of the outbreak. There is up to a three week lag between that and hospital admissions, and another week leading to deaths. Because action wasnt taken earlier when it should have been, we are now in a harder place, and the tier3 been, we are now in a harder place, and the tier 3 approach essentially just levels us off at a bad place, and the rest of the country is coming up to that bad place. It is a recognition of that scenario which is now leading, i think, to what is being discussed today. I should add, i have no special insight into what is being planned. Can you give us, in terms of the way the infection now is spreading between age groups, different sexes, ill be seeing any different sexes, ill be seeing any different patterns now, and what are the most worrying aspect is being seen . Yes, we are. What is different now to what we saw in the first wave, in the first wave we had a lockdown that closed retail and hospitality and education. What we are seeing now is quite worrying in that theres three or four times more women between the ages of 18 and 40 who are being admitted to hospital with severe disease, and my only explanation for that is that these are women who have been exposed in retail, hospitality and ca re exposed in retail, hospitality and care sectors, and some educational sectors, through their increased social mixing. The role of children in this is probably smaller than you might expect, its mainly to do with social interactions between adults. But there is some role for older teenage children in this, and thats a surprise. Essentially, we are seeing three or four times more women than men between the ages of 18 and 40 coming into hospital with severe 18 and 40 coming into hospital with severe disease. To get into hospital at the moment, you have got to be pretty ill, so this is not trivial. For those people who say there is no such thing as a second wave, i promise you, we are seeing a second wave. In relation to timing my part of this is political, i know you wont comment on that, and advises advice, politicians make policy, but what is the impact of delays . If a decision about a National Lockdown, for example, and of course we have watched what has happened in wales and in Northern Ireland and scotland, everyone is watching each other, we have seen france and germany, for example, is there a direct correlation in terms of hospitalisations and deaths per day that a decision like this is delayed . Yes, and thats obvious because it is a mathematical function that if you have got a doubling time of two weeks, if you wait two weeks, you will have twice as many cases, and that will have a knock on effect on deaths. But we are ina knock on effect on deaths. But we are in a slightly better place because the hospital doctors and nurses are better at treating patients, so the overall rate has come from 30 down to 15 , thanks to better care and better treatment. But there is a kick do that because it takes longer because patients have been in hospital for longer, and that occupies beds for longer. So yes, we have got better at treating people, but it means they stay in hospital a little bit longer, and that adds additional pressure on the system. Can i ask you to take a slightly different position, you have clearly outlined the risk we have right now, and the prognosis for more might happen in different events, what is the optimistic picture of, if the correct action is taken now, what could be achieved . I know that the timeline here, it is suggested that a new lockdown could last as long as a new lockdown could last as long as a month, so what could be achieved ina a month, so what could be achieved in a period like that . If that was applied nationally and was adhered to, you would see a dramatic fall in hospital admissions and deaths in four weeks time. I would have to say, four weeks is properly quite a short period. You may realistically have an appraisal ad four weeks, and then think whether it needs to be stretched another couple of weeks, perhaps with a bit of easing around the seasonal festivities. That might bea the seasonal festivities. That might be a more realistic to scenario. That gives you time to get your test, chase and isolate process up to scratch. That is the fundamental of managing any outbreak, having a rapid turnaround for test, chase and isolate because that is what can get us out of the situation until we have a vaccine. Mike trace. In simple terms, would you say that the coronavirus is out of control in england now . Yes, it is, certainly in many parts of the country it is. In the midlands and manchester, we are seeing further rises in cases. I looked at the data today, and the south and south east is relatively spared, but theyre recognising that what we are seeing in the north is inevitably going to happen down there. It is the right thing to do, to think about a Circuit Breaker style lockdown to think about a Circuit Breaker style lockd own now to think about a Circuit Breaker style lockdown now because that will actually maintain the integrity of society and the economy for when you come out. If you do nothing, levels of sickness will rise within the community, and that in itself will affect the economy and society. Professor, thank you very much for your time this morning. We often talk to him, he is professor of outbreak medicine at the university of liverpool. Really interesting to hear his thoughts there, based on the science that is being presented as we understand it to ministers ahead of next week. Also worth saying, just after 9am, if you have got questions about whatever you have heard this morning, we will ta ke have heard this morning, we will take some of those questions and talk to some experts and maybe try and address some of them for you. The six nations, do you remember that was happening . An awful lot of people, even big by an awful lot of people, even big rugby fans, who have scratch their heads a bit and thought, where were we when it stopped, and where are we today . Yes, today is going to be exciting and there are different permutations as well. The delayed 2020 six nations is set for a dramatic finale with three teams still able to win the title. Ireland, england and france all have the chance to take the championship seven months later than originally scheduled with france hosting ireland in the final match of the day. Here to give us his thoughts on todays fixtures is former welsh rugby international, jonathan davies. Thank you forjoining us, jonathan. So, this has been worth waiting for, hasnt it . Decided on the final day between three countries. Yes, it is a special day and we have waited eight months for it, unfortunately. The weather in wales is absolutely atrocious, so that is dreadful with whats going to happen down here with the scottish game. We cant see terribly well, but we can hear you. 0h, terribly well, but we can hear you. Oh, you are back again. Fantastic to see you, looking great. Lets talk about the permutations. Ireland at the top of the table by one point, and they have a tough game against france, who could also wind it. England, who could also wind it, are playing italy, and italy are bottom of the table. How do you see it going . Well, ithink of the table. How do you see it going . Well, i think england will win comfortably in italy. Ireland know what they have to do. They have got the tougher game, going to paris. But england will Start Playing normally, try and build a league, get the win, and then build the points. Ireland will know what they have to do, so i would say england are my favourites at the moment, and i do feel that ireland are capable of winning in paris against a good french side, but again, the bonus points and four tries is going to be very difficult. But, if they know what they have to do, and france will get involved as well, then we might see a high scoring game in paris, which would benefit the irish. No fans, of course, unfortunately. How will that affect teams, especially in paris . Well, scotland have not won since 2002 in wales, in cardiff, so i think it will be very different and it will be a great opportunity for scotla nd it will be a great opportunity for scotland to win. In paris, strangely enough, if france dont start well, the crowd tends to get on their back, so i think it will be beneficial for france with no crowd because the pressure will be off them. It is very odd. I was in wembley a couple of weeks ago, it has a 90,000 capacity, but no crowd. It is airy and very odd. It is up to the players to create their own atmosphere. But the one thing is you can hear all the players and the communication, so there may be eight fewer words bleeped out this afternoon. And that early match, such a shame that there wont be any fa ns to such a shame that there wont be any fans to watch that. A hugely proud moment for Alun Wyn Jones. How significant is his record of 1a9 caps that he is going to get . Well, its an extraordinary achievement. If you look back, Gareth Edwards had 53 consecutive test matches when he only played four or five, that was amazing. But what Alun Wyn Jones has achieved in the positions he has played is extraordinary. He is such a professional athlete, on and off the field, and i would say maybe he is the greatest ever welsh player and everyone will be delighted for alan and his family today. Hi, its charlie in the studio. We can see pictures of alan there are but i need an inside story. We saw a clip of him earlier, and he has that, in his interviews he has a wonderful campbell thing, its all about the team, but then you hear the comments from his team mates, and they say you just want to be there with him, alongside him. Can you give an insight into what it is he brings to the table, the dressing room, on the pitch . Yes, the one thing you have got to watch out for, during a game, no one else will notice it, but if there is a kick to touch in the 70th minute, Alun Wyn Jones there is a kick to touch in the 70th minute, alun wynjones will be the first one to the touchline. He has done that throughout his career on and off the field, he has led from the front. He has not asked anyone to do what he wouldnt do, and he sets standards on and off the field. And also, he started his rugby somewhere in the hills of swansea, one of the hardest places, so he has put himself through it. He knows the tough times, and hopefully today will be one of his greatest moments, but he is an intelligent, quirky character. He would make you feel a little bit uncomfortable if you interview him because he thinks that is quite funny. He is a lovely, lovely man from a great family background and just an inspirational leader. He sets standards on and off the field, and has done that since he first turned up in the welsh changing room. An incredible career that he has had. Look into this match, where he will surpass this record, wales against scotland, do you think we will see a scotland win on welsh soil . We have been here before. If this is the best chance for scotland, wales are on a little bit of a downturn, a transitional period, scotland are coming all guns blazing, a lot of confidence. They look dangerous, but no crowd, not in cardiff. This is the best opportunity for scotland, and they might start as favourites today. Jonathan, a pleasure to speak to you. Thank you very much. Its a sad day for football, with another one of englands World Cup Winning Team passing away. Tributes have been flooding in for nobby stiles, who has died at the age of 78. Stiles played a key role throughout the 1966 world cup campaign, while he also went on to lift the european cup in 1968 with Manchester United, where he made almost a00 appearances. They say he is a titan of the clubs history, while fellow world cup winner geoff hurst called him the heart and soul of the team going on to say hell be sorely missed. Wolves have continued their impressive start to the premier league season, moving joint top after a 2 0 win over Crystal Palace at molineux. Teenager rayan ait nouri scored on his wolves debut to give them the lead with this strike after 18 minutes. Portuguese winger Daniel Podence doubled the hosts advantage nine minutes later. Wolves are level on points with leaders everton and champions liverpool, who both have a game in hand. Dan walker will be on air later today with football focus and hes with us now to tell us whats coming up on the show. I would imagine there will be some more tributes to nobby stiles. Yes, good morning. Definitely. As you heard there, both playing for his clu b heard there, both playing for his club side, Manchester United, and for england, even though others did get headlines, nobby stiles was the man who was always described by his team mates as the heart of both those sites. We will speak to one of his former team mates today, and Mark Lawrenson, who actually when he was training, says nobby stiles when he was coaching him was a man that moved him from left wing to centre half, so mark will pay his own particular tribute. There were some lovely memories yesterday. Just the man he was, and the fact that he didnt like all the glamour that came with being a footballer. Back in those days, he used to wear contact lenses because he was so short sighted, and these were ones that you had to put in with suckers, so quite hard to get in. Apparently, he used to tell Bobby Charlton not to run too far away from him because he couldnt see further than 15 yards. Some lovely recollections of playing and working with nobby stiles, and there will be more of those on the programme today. In terms of what else we have got on, we have got a really interesting interview with the aston villa defender tyrone. Theyve had the meanest defence in the event so far, and he has been talking about all sorts of things, including when he was a financial adviser. He was a mortgage advisor in a former life. Something you have been involved in is ensuring that there is more racial diversity in this country. This week you have been announced as pa rt this week you have been announced as part of a group of players who are looking to enforce change. Can you tell us a little bit about it . The diversity code is another step in the right direction, another way that we can try and drive change. I was fortunate enough to be asked by the Football Association to be involved in that, and feel quite proud that i could lend my voice to the conversation to try and give my input from a current player, someone who may go into the boardroom in the future, and try to develop those pathways now for what future generations will benefit from. It is not going to change overnight, but if people are more aware of it, then hopefully more opportunities will be forthcoming in the future. So, plenty more from him on the programme. We are also looking at burnley, and the fact thatjohn dyson has been there for eight years now. Radio one dj and superfan jordan has been to see him. We have got a piece on hull city, and we look ahead to the womens fa cup final tomorrow between everton and manchester city. And also a look back at the career of andy cole. Thats all on the way from midday on bbc one. Brilliant, we look forward to it. A big day of rugby and football. Thats all your support for now. A busy day. Thank you, jane. Now, what about the weather . Not much to look forward to, but a busy day as well. Throughout this weekend, there will be various bouts of rain and gales sweeping across the country. They could be some minor flooding the country. They could be some minorflooding and the country. They could be some minor flooding and travel disruption, but they will be a little bit of sunshine as well. This area of low pressure is storm aden, named yesterday by the Irish Weather Service. Plenty of disruption, rain spreading east through the day. There will be some heavy bursts through this swathe of rain, and some nasty gusts, working its way towards the south east by the afternoon, allowing Western Areas to see sunshine return. A Sunny Afternoon for of scotland, but ray will be persistent across the highlands. It is in the west where the wind will continue to strengthen around the not irish sea. The wind will ease down for england and wales compared to this morning. Not too cold today, providing you are out of the wind and rain. This evening and overnight, the skies will clear for a time, but more cloud and rain will spill in from the south and west as we go into tomorrow morning. The wind will strengthen from a southerly direction, so not a cold start, but rain will spread eastwards through tomorrow, but brightening up across scotland and Northern Ireland. For the Western Isles tomorrow the strongest winds, up isles tomorrow the strongest winds, up to 80 mph. More in half an hour. With a career spanning decades, sir lenny henry is perhaps best known as a comedian and for his charity work, as one of comic reliefs founding figures. Now hes hoping to make a mark on young minds, and has written a series of childrens books. Hes been chatting to our reporter Graham Satchell about encouraging children to read and the need for more diversity in literature. On monday, he had made breakfast of custard on toast and some ham. On tuesday, he had made her a packed lunch with a choc ice, some water and jam. Sir lenny henry with a taster of his new childrens story tyrone claps for mum. So they dressed up as ghosts and hid by the door. She got home and they gave her a fright we asked a group of younger readers to help us with this report. Hello, lenny. My name is ella and i love reading and i cant wait to read your book. My question is what is tyrone like . Tyrone is like me, but six years old. Hes incredibly curious. He wants to know things. He loves his mum, he loves his dad, he loves his granddad and he loves to have adventures and thats exactly what i was like when i was six, seven years old. Both what was your favourite book growing up . Um you both said that at the same time my favourite book growing up. I think was the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. Fantastic there was a big lion who talked thats something you dont see every day hi, lenny. My name is adie and i would like to ask you a question. Why arent there more black children in childrens books . Thats a serious question just because there are not enough authors writing childrens books with diverse characters in them. Its getting better, though. Nathan bryans book look up and clean up , those books are good. And i think that when the main publishers see that its something that gets people to buy books, then maybe they will increase the diversity of the books. It seems to be a simple thing but nobody is getting it quite yet. But they will Nathan Bryans books look up and clean up are something of a rarity. As recently as 2018, only a of childrens books had an ethnic minority character as the hero. It is important, isnt it, to see yourself reflected back . Absolutely. But i think until we get more gatekeepers that look like me in the publishing industry, it will be slow. You know, my daughters ears pricked up the minute she heard that kid in harry potter was a black kid with dreadlocks. She went ah like that. Because she was a black kid with dreadlocks and i want to do the same thing for other people. But the simplicity of that is so important, isnt it . Yeah its a really simple thing its an easy thing to do hire more people its the easiest thing in the world open the door sir lenny has long used his public platform to campaign for things like greater diversity in broadcasting, and now publishing. He says hes been impressed by the next generation also using their high profile, like marcus rashford. Marcus, you know, has encouraged everybody, all the restaurants in the world, to say well people in japan well send sushi everybody wants to be part of this, of helping the schoolchildren eat, and i think that is an incredibly admirable thing to do. And yeah, use your platform to do that stuff. Its important. If you want to help out, the best thing you can do is try not to drive her berserk. Sir lenny is writing a series of books for Primary School students. The first is due out next year. But on friday when they went to pick up mum, tyrone was dressed as a nurse. I love sitting sitting in my pants, writing thats my favourite thing. And i think that is what im going to be doing for the next three years its the secret love of every middle aged man. Sitting in your pants, eating biscuits, drinking tea and scribbling in a notebook. How great is that . Dont tell anyone, lenny shh dont tell anyone dont but its the best thing in the world shes just three years old, but our next guest was able to help save her mums life by calling for help after she collapsed and was unable to wake up. Toddler eva pressed her mums emergency alarm, after she had a seizure. So many parents will be listening to that. That was a three year old even making that all important phone call when she realised her mum wasnt waking up. Theyre both with us now. And we also have michelle booth, the First Responder who arrived at the scene after she was dispatched by the call handler. Emma and eva, good morning to you. Hi. Eva, you did such a good job there. You must be so proud. Are you well today . Are you ok . I am, thank you. How. You must have gone through this procedure with either before. But she is three years old, we cant underestimate how important what she did was. I havent actually, no. She presses my alarm when she is not supposed to and get told off quite a bit for pressing it. Thank goodness she is curious because obviously you do have a condition and you do have seizures. Was she aware of that before . No, it is the first time she has actually witnessed a seizure. I have added since i was nine, and its the first time she has witnessed one. Michelle, can i ask either a question. Eva, can you give as a wave . Can you wave to us . Good morning. Thats a lovely smile. Eva, will you explain to me and everyone listening, all the people listening, what you did when mummy fell over . Can you explain for us . What did you do . What did you do when mummy fell over . Did you ask for help . Tell them. I tell you what, your daughter s smile, that will do. Thats a great smile. You must be so proud. We gave it a try. Lets talk to michelle. You arrived on the scene. Eva wont tell us what happened, but you got there and what did you see . What was even doing, what was the situation . When i arrived at the property, emma was laid in the hallway having a seizure, and eva was just sat next to her, and she was just sat next to her, and she was with a yoghurt, just looking at her mum. I encouraged eva to go into the lounge and put the tv on and i saidi the lounge and put the tv on and i said i would watch it with her as soon as i could. I wanted to get her out of the situation. For a young child, she had seen enough and i wa nted child, she had seen enough and i wanted to get her out of the situation and just reassure her that help was close by. Michelle, have you got anything you would like to say to eva . Eva is a hero for her mum. She is absolutely amazing. How does that feel, eva . You are a hero. Are you pleased with that . Such a lovely smile. Emma, it must have been so scary for you. I understand, you usually know when these seizures are coming, but you had had an infection at that point, so it was sudden, is that correct . Yes, i didnt know i had had an infection, to be fair, but i do normally know when they are coming on because my arm goes numb. But i did not know what was going on, and ijust fell to the floor. How is eva now . It must have been a scary situation. To the floor. How is eva now . It must have been a scary situationm was quite daunting for her. She wanted to check up on me all through the night when i got home, and stuff like that. She was re enacting what had happened the next few days after. Because obviously, it plays on their mind, and stuff. But she is 0k on their mind, and stuff. But she is ok now, but she does constantly check up, like if ijust have a slide sneeze, or car. She is like, careful, mummy, careful. She is very wary of if it will happen again. If very wary of if it will happen again. If i do have a slight problem, she is wary. We were all saying, eva is a hero. I dont want to put words in your mouth, emma, but First Responders are heroes, too, and there was michelle arriving, and no doubt doing that work every day. I dont think we could get by without them. I wouldnt be here today if it wasnt for the ambulances, anybody, the amount of seizures i have had i wouldnt be here today without any of them. We are both thinking the same thing. You get the honours too, you, people like you doing that work in day in, day out, you should be very proud as well. We will say thank you to both, michel, valuable work and evan gets to play eva gets to play hair dresser. And youre a hero its official. Take care all of you. Good morning welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. 0ur headlines today plans for a new month long National Lockdown across england, as borisjohnson considers issuing another stay at home message within days. It comes after new scientific advice warns more than four thousand people could die each day, unless tighter restrictions are brought in. Rescue teams search for survivors after a powerful earthquake hits turkey and greece the devastation leaves at least 26 people dead. Just three days to go donald trump and Joe Biden Campaign in the american midwest where polls suggest several states could go either way. The heart and soul of the team. Just one of the many tributes flooding in for nobby stiles. The england world cup winner has died at the age of 78. Former team mate sir geoff hurst said he would be sorely missed. And it may have been named by the Irish Weather Service, but storm aidan could travel and weather disruption here. All the details coming up. Its saturday october 31st. Our top story. A new nationwide lockdown for england is being considered by ministers and could be announced within days. Government documents seen by the bbc suggest the uk is on course for significantly more deaths than during the first wave of the pandemic. Scientists warn the death toll could hit four thousand people a day. That is as cases continue to rise. Because action wasnt taken earlier when it should have been, we are now ina harder when it should have been, we are now in a harder place and the tier 3 approachjust in a harder place and the tier 3 approach just levels us off at a bad place. And the rest of the countrys coming up to that bad place. It is the recognition of that scenario thatis the recognition of that scenario that is leading to what has been discussed today. It sounds like it must be longer thanit it sounds like it must be longer than it would have had to be. Last night government sources said that the country was at the crunch point, although no final decisions have been made. But it seems increasingly likely that the Prime Minister could take the National Action that he was so desperate to avoid. 0ur Political Correspondent helen catt is in downing street. Helen, will the Prime Minister have the support of his own mps to impose a lockdown . We have heard from one of the scientists involved, we heard this new official Scientific Data is stark. And the result of that is we understand a major rethink in terms of the governments approach. Understand a major rethink in terms of the governments approach. Yeah, this sounds like a big shift from the government. If you think back to when we started to come out of National Lockdown over the summer, all the steps that have been taken, the rule of six the 10pm curfew, the tier system, it was designed so we didnt end up looking at more national restrictions. Borisjohnson has said how damage he felt a second shut down would be to the economy and peoples health. He was resisting calls from labourfor a two week Circuit Breaker. He had been adamant it was not the right thing to do, to turn the lights out was how he put it. Now he is going toissue was how he put it. Now he is going to issue an order to say stay at home. It is a big shift in policy and downing street has said it will move and shift according to the situation. But i think this is going to be politically challenging for the Prime Minister to explain and this morning we have seen discussioning within the conservative party and the backbenchers, john redwood saying this will just delay backbenchers, john redwood saying this willjust delay thing and shouldnt we focus on treatment . Another conservative mp said he felt it was becoming inevitable, because so many regions were having to move into higher restrictions and it had become inevitable there would be some National Action. The question will be around the timing and why he has done this now after the other side of the half term holiday. Thank you. A fifth of all mortgage holders are worried about being able to make their payments in the next three months. The finding comes from a report released by the anti Poverty Charity, theJoseph Rowntree foundation. Mortgage payment holidays end today. The report warns that about three quarters of a million households, who expect their incomes to drop in the next month, will not be able to access any Government Housing support. Senior labour mps on the left of the party, have called for unity and support for ex leaderJeremy Corbyn after he was suspended from the party. Former shadow cabinet ministers diane abbott, John Mcdonnell and Richard Burgon took part in an online rally, appealling for mr corbyn to be reinstated. He was suspended on thursday after a report into anti semitism within the party revealed equality law was broken under his leadership. Rescue teams in the turkish city of izmir have spent the night digging through concrete blocks, looking for survivors of the earthquake that struck there yesterday. At least 26 people are now understood to have died, including two on the nearby greek island of samos. 0rla guerin reports. Amateur video captured the awful power of the quake. This multi storey building disintegrated into dust. 0n the streets of izmir, there was fear and panic. I saw people crying, trying to reach out to their loved ones. Everyone was shocked and it was a very chaotic moment. About 20 buildings were brought down. The quake was felt as far away as istanbul and athens. Turkey is crisscrossed by active fault lines. The danger always lying beneath. Rescuers picked their way carefully through the rubble. Here, finding a survivor and gently cradling his head. The man was brought out alive, like dozens of others. Izmir bore the brunt of this earthquake but two teenagers died in the greek islands. And in the midst of loss, there has been a rare display of solidarity between two nations that are deeply divided. This is a glimpse of one mothers terror today. She sprints to the next room for her only child, an 18 month old, asleep in his cot. She gets him away to safety. But danger also came surging from the aegean. Sea levels rising because of a mini tsunami, which there has been 100 after shocks. In turkey, there is grief and shock and the gnawing fear of when the next big one is coming. 0rla guerin, bbc news, istanbul. President donald trump and his democratic rivaljoe biden have been campaigning in the american mid west, which is home to some of the most closely contested states in the us election. With just three days to go, both candidates are trying to gain support in a last ditch effort to win over undecided voters. 0ur north america correspondent peter bowes reports. The final weekend. For donald trump, a final sprint around the country, as he tried to secure a second term in the white house. The president is focusing on the Battle Ground state that could decide the election. But, at a stop in minnesota, thousands of mr trumps supporters were prevented from going to a planned rally in the city of rochester, when state Officials Limited the size of the crowd because of covid 19. Only 250 people were allowed to attend. The president protested, and blamed local democrats. They thought he would cancel a word they are very familiar with. Cancel. Cancel culture. But i said no way, i will never abandon the people of minnesota. I will come up. During his speech, the president repeated his view that america was rounding the turn on the pandemic, even though the number of new cases has again reached a record high for a single day, more than 90,000. Campaigning in wisconsin, another Battle Ground states, joe biden said mr trump had given up on trying to get the coronavirus under control. Donald trump waved the white flag, surrendered to the virus, but the American People dont give up. We dont give in. Unlike donald trump, we are not going to surrender to this virus. We are simply not going to surrender. With tensions running high, businesses in some us cities have begun to board up their premises, in case the election leads to civil unrest. In los angeles, early voting has been taking place at the dodgers stadium, days after the team won baseballs world series. Voting should be fun, and this is fun. And so thats why im here. And the dodgers won the world series. And i am super stressed out about the election, and i could use a little fun. Surreal scenes as america braces for an election day like no other. Heres matt with a look at this mornings weather. Not looking brilliant is it . No. Good morning. Some ominous signs on the horizon. We will see some strong winds, some heavy rain and a risk of flooding in Western Areas and travel disruption, particularly on the ferries and restrictions on the bridges. The look from space shows this area of cloud that will come our way tomorrow. This is today, it is storm aidan. The strongest winds are on the southern edge and it will move are on the southern edge and it will m ove a cross are on the southern edge and it will move across Northern Ireland and western scotland and we will see gales across the country. A dry start in the east. Heavy rain in the west and that main band has some intense burst of heavier rain that will work its way east. It will be short lived. But the rain does clear. It is not a wash out. Many in england and wales will see sunshine this afternoon. Western scotland and Northern Ireland stays cloudy with further rain and the strongest winds up further rain and the strongest winds up to 80mph gusts. They could cause problems later. Winds from the south, keeps temperatures up, but levels shouldnt be there at this time of year. But the strength of wind and rain will temper the feel. The rain will ease tonight. The winds die back for a while. By the end of the night there is more cloud and wind and strengthening areas of wind and rain starting to push in. Temperatures six or seven degrees across scotland and Northern England before the rain returns in the morning. Tomorrow, the next area of low pressure to the north west of us. This contain it is remnants of an ex hurricane zeta. The winds not as strong tomorrow compared to today. Scotland and Northern Ireland could brighten up. England and wales stay cloudy with rain at times, heaviest in the west. Winds could touch gale force. And 70 to 80mph in the Western Isles. Staying mild at 17 degrees and a mild sunday night for england and wales with the rain hanging around. 0n for england and wales with the rain hanging around. On monday that will clear, fresher air pushes into all parts and a mixture of sunshine and showers later, but as they start to ease, after a stormy conditions this weekend, the rest of the week is looking better. Drier and colder, with some morning frost and fog. But the mellower said of autumn compared to this weekend. Lets return to our top story now a new nationwide lockdown for england is being considered by ministers and could be announced within days. The rethink comes after documents seen by the bbc suggest the uk is on course for significantly more deaths than during the first wave of the pandemic unless strict new measures are imposed. Lets take a quick look at the latest coronavirus figures. Nearly 570 thousand people in england are becoming infected with the virus every week thats according to the office for national statistics. Across the uk, an average of 237 people died with covid each day in the last week. And the total number of people in the uk who have died within 28 days of testing positive for covid now stands at more than a6 thousand. We can speak now to linda bauld a professor of Public Health in edinburgh and doctor sarahjarvis is a gp in west london. The first, there are two parts, the figures about the potential number of deaths and the capacity of hospitals what theyre able to cope with, which is prompting the talk now that Boris Johnson and with, which is prompting the talk now that borisjohnson and his government could announce a National Lockdown, do that reaction that National Lockdown in england prove appropriate considering the data . think so. None of us in the Research Community are, many of us are not advising on policy, but i havent heard any of my colleagues arguing anything else at the moment. I think we will all be able to remember and think back to when chris whitty and Patrick Vallance said we could have 200 deaths into november and we are not into november and we are already at that rate. I think the problem is that many parts of england are in tier3, but if that many parts of england are in tier 3, but if you look at the whole map of england, the more places are in tier1, including places map of england, the more places are in tier 1, including places like the south west which has the highest r. South west which has the highest r. So it is clear more action is needed across england, in a similar way to what we are seeing in wales and Northern Ireland. The immediate question is, is it too late, should it have been done earlier . question is, is it too late, should it have been done earlier . I think there was a lot of evidence to suggest it should have been done earlier. The paper from sage from 21st september made that clear reputation. But politicians have been reluctant to treat cornwall the same as newcastle for example. But we are in a serious situation now and looking ahead to the next few weeks, hearing from colleagues in liverpool and elsewhere, just about the strain, the hospitals are under, im sure sarah can speak of a clinical perspective. Sarr sara, lets pick up on where the problems are in the community. So we look at the big picture and there is the possibility of the announcements about government and the reaction to it, what is happening within the community that is making the situation change . I think part of the problem is that come august we had eat out to help out and everybody believed this this was all over. And at that time, there was complete abandonment of any pretence at social distancing, people believed that this was over and we have seen there is a new strain that started in spain and a lot of people have got it who are affected have got that strain of the virus, so it brought it back into the uk. Some countries in europe have high cases and havent got that strain. But we have got it here. Then young people in particular saw that, their chance of being affected and dying was tiny and their belief was we dont need to worry. What we have seen is that where young people get it, older people follow. Now, i was hopeful that because we knew more about the virus and we had covid safety in shops and in restaurants, that it might spread more slowly. Sadly it seems that is not the case. It is particularly sad, because of course a lockdown has a huge impact on Mental Health of those who are isolated and it has a huge knock on impact on non covid related conditions. Just. People will be listening, who are thinking, i have adapted my life. I have changed the way i have been living. Whatever tier im in and some people have taken different tier im in and some people have ta ken different measures. Tier im in and some people have taken different measures. Maybe some people will have absolutely followed the rules. And yet we are still in this position. I mean, along the way the government has suggested it is a small minority of people who are causing the problems, whether you point to one of those parties or events that have happened. Are you suggesting it is essentially right across the board . Well, for instance if you consider that 89 of people who are told to self isolate because they have been in contact with somebody, do not self isolate. Nearly 90 of people are having interactions with others and we know the test and trace has been a disaster and it is picking up 22,000 infections, but else it is suggested it is closer to 568,000 people infected, that is 52,000 people a day and another study said it could be 96,000 a day. So we are not picking it up and people who have it are not self isolating. People have adapted their lives and it would be mistake, the r number is not three, which it was at the start, a lot of people have made real sacrifices. But a as long as the r number is above one, the numbers will increase. Listening to what dr jarvis has said, particular in regard to test and trace, a month long lockdown comes in next week say, it is for a month, what happens in that month to improve the situation, how much does it improve and what needs to be in place to make sure that we are notjust going backwards and forwards and trying tiers and National Lockdowns . Absolutely, i mean as sarah said, test and trace, they were only reaching as of the cases within test and trace, they were only reaching 45 of the cases within 24 hours. What governments need to do is use the time. Lets emphasise this is a variable picture across the uk. We have a Clear Strategy in scotland, it is not perfect, but at least we have a strategy. Northern ireland and wales are taking dramatic action. We havent seen a strategy in england and the test and trace systems are different around the country. If we have it across the country. If we have it across the board in england, the time needs to be used to improve the system, to increase the Testing Capacity and the turn around time from tests and to do more asymptomatic testing and look another how our Health Service is organised to make sure that covid secure path ways, particularly to avoid t predicted 18,000 additional cancer deaths. On monday, the five tier system is coming into place in scotland, why is it appropriate in scotland, why is it appropriate in scotland, but a National Lockdown in england is the right thing . The challenge that we had a four nations approach at the beginning and there has been diverse jens and i dont get into the politics. In the central belt the restrictions are severe central belt the restrictions are severe and more central belt the restrictions are severe and more severe to central belt the restrictions are severe and more severe to tier 3 or more than england. I think our first ministers looking to places like orkney, shetland and the highlands, which are remote with few case and saying that a different approach may be needed there. Our cases are stabilising, but as drjarvis said the r is not below one. We will need to see what happens with the scottish model. There may be pressure if england produces a lockdown to discuss whether we have gone wrong with the different strategies across the uk. Im sure that discussion i hope would happen. One last thought from you, if there are people listening to what youre saying, the scientist we have spoken to, hearing the plans for the government and theyre sighing and thinking, my finances are stretched, possibly beyond reach. My kids. Are not happy. Im worried. And then youre saying, this is what is coming up, this is what is needed. What do you say to people who are in that frame of mind . I absolutely get it. Im coming to terms with the fa ct it. Im coming to terms with the fact my christmas is cancelled, i caught see my father or my daughter. I understand. Caught see my father or my daughter. Iunderstand. No, i caught see my father or my daughter. I understand. No, i havent lost my job, because i work in the health ca re job, because i work in the health care sector, but we are all going to be busy. I understand that, but we have reached the stage where if we dont do something about it and something drastic, people are going to die notjust something drastic, people are going to die not just from something drastic, people are going to die notjust from covid, but we are both in agreement we have to keep things open for cancer centres and to make sure the nhs isnt overwhelmed. People will die from non covid conditions. Overwhelmed. People will die from noncovid conditions. Thank you very much for your time. We are discussing a National Lockdown. Whether a National Lockdown happens or not millions more people in england will face tougher coronavirus restrictions from today, as areas including yorkshire and the humber move into tier 2 thats the high level. Just up the road the people of middlesbrough are already in tier 2 and could soon be moved into tier 3 the highest level. But will it make any difference if the Prime Minister calls a National Lockdown . We can ask the mayor of middlesbrough, andy preston. I should ask, because youre about to move and middlesbrough is about to move and middlesbrough is about to move and middlesbrough is about to move into tier 3, have you heard if that is actually going to happen . There has been a conversation with government and they appear to be 100 committed to put us in. Sol would say it is going to happen. It isa would say it is going to happen. It is a question of us working on what the terms are. I dont mean the financial terms, theyre fixed, but what levels of restrictions we want to get the right balance right. This weekend im talking to our Public Health experts and working with the government on monday. You have seen the front pages and heard the news there is talk of a National Lockdown. What would that mean if middlesbrough, if it is going into tier 3, as has been indicated to you . If we go, when we go into tier 3, that is the truth, whether we are impacted by a National Lock don depends on what lockdown means. In lockdown in the spring was very severe. Lockdown in the spring was very severe. But sometimes in this country we use that term lockdown to mean almost anything. But i have to say that we think of this as an english problem or an middlesbrough issue, if we look beyond our countrys border, in france and belgium, the same things are happening. There is a global issue, a crisis in the nhs, a crisis in the Health Care Systems every where. And what we have got to do, as politicians and as people, we have got to make some sacrifice to make sure that the medium term protection ofjobs, of health and of Mental Health is there. So the government has access to data this im keen to see, but i know locally our nhs capacity is being eradicated and we are heading to wints we ing to winter with flu coming and we see a crisis that goes beyond covid. So action needs to be taken. You would welcome a months long lockdown . would welcome a data, science driven piece of action that would give us a better result, more chance of freedom and jobs and health in the medium term. We need to act swiftly and decisively. One of the documents that was shown to downing street on friday and discussed by the government is that deaths could reach more than 4,000 a day if no policies are brought in, but that is a very frightening number. So there is some data, and of course you will be aware of hospitals saying they are and some have reported cancelling procedures, because of the concerns of covid related admissions. It is clear that there is a looming crisis. The writing is on the wall, to use that phrase. Interestingly, in middlesbrough we have been tier 2 for about five weeks, and our numbers in the last week or so have been declining pretty much every day. What i am saying is some level of restrictions do work. When we hear the press use the word lockdown it can mean a million things, but if you mean a lockdown like middlesbrough currently does have, it does appear to be doing good things where we are. But the numbers are still rising, arent they . It is the rate of rise that is slowing. The seven day average in middlesbrough has been declining for about seven days. So the total number of people infected in middlesbrough on a daily basis is going down . Yes, the number of new infections is going down. Ok, and we saw this with the discussion about Greater Manchester and with andy burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, comes money and funding and Financial Support. What Financial Support are you expecting as you move into tier 3 and you have said this is happening for middlesbrough, and how would that compared to a National Lockdown funding . What we expect financially is exactly the same deal that liverpool, manchester, sheffield, nottingham, and probably West Yorkshire are going to get. There is a clearformula yorkshire are going to get. There is a clear formula and yorkshire are going to get. There is a clearformula and nobody yorkshire are going to get. There is a clear formula and nobody really deviates from that for obvious reasons. Whether there is a financial compensation package for a lockdown, i dont know, but it is critical. I have talked about the medium term Mental Health, physical health, jobs and so on, thats where we have to make sacrifices, but the government has to take action to protect alljobs. Government has to take action to protect all jobs. They government has to take action to protect alljobs. They have got to borrow the money, the facility is there, the Global Demand is there, borrow the money and protect every singlejob until the borrow the money and protect every single job until the spring, when things will start to get better. Andy preston, mayor of middlesbrough, thank you for talking to us this morning. If there were ever a morning when you needed to just park some of that and maybe think about food, it is today, i dont know why. Saturday kitchen, looking casual there. Today, i dont know why. Saturday kitchen, looking casualthere. Nice stance, can i say that . Sorry a bit camp. No, catalogue is the word that came to mind. That is very generous of you. Happy halloween. We have got the enchanting nigella lawson, no less. Good morning, nigella. My pleasure. We can talk properly later. Lets talk about your food heaven. Anchovies, for sure. I did toy with the idea of black pudding, which i also love. But i like those really strong flavours. Big flavours. And food hell would have been a stretch. I do eat everything, and last time i was on i think i exhausted my food hell with soya milk and green bell peppers. I have difficulties with chopped candied peel. Profound difficulties. Ok, interesting. You will also cook for usa interesting. You will also cook for us a bit later on. What will you make . Muddy pan loaf cake. I always worry about calling it that because people who hate marzipan love it, and it is very easy to make and very easy to eat. The treats keep coming. How are you . I am cooking pollock with potted shrimp butter with mashed potato on the side, and also some nice bitter leaves. Is this dress down saturday . some nice bitter leaves. Is this dress down saturday . I will be changing later good morning, i have my trolley packed with various classics and bargains for later on. I love your scary faces in the background. I will be cooking with pumpkins ina background. I will be cooking with pumpkins in a moment. Dont forget, you decide what nigella eats at the end of the show. See you at 10am. Thank you, matt. Time now for the sports news. Englands world cup winners always have a special place in everyones heart, and today, sad news about a loss. Yes, but also a chance to look back at some lovely memories. The tributes have been pouring in for nobby stiles, whose death was announced yesterday. He will perhaps be best remembered for his celebration at the end of the 1966 final at wembley, but he remains one of only three englishmen to have won the world cup, the european cup and the English League title. We can speak to two people who knew him well. Ian callaghan was a member of englands 1966 world cup squad, and Mark Lawrenson played with nobby when he was player coach at preston north end. Welcome to you both. Ian, if i start with you. Such a sad news, and i know that before he came used to meet up with nobby stiles and share memories. How will you remember him . Iremember him memories. How will you remember him . I remember him as a great character, and probably the biggest character in all the 22 players in 66. A great, great guy, and obviously a great, great guy, and obviously a great player. We did meet up, even years later, for get togethers, a couple of days away, and he was always the life and soul of the party. He is always described as that, as a character. Mark, i know that, as a character. Mark, i know that he wasntjust a friend for you, he was also incredibly influential on your career. Yes. When i was at preston and nobby stiles would be the reserve team coach, were used to play against all the top reserve teams, manchester, everton, liverpool, we would play against seven or eight internationals. And, you know, the experience was absolutely fabulous. We were playing one day at aston villa, we were 4 0 down at half time, i was playing left wing and nobby stiles was in charge. He said, ithink and nobby stiles was in charge. He said, i think i might be better playing alongside mark, and i didnt look back. For a small man, he had a massive and loving personality. Yes, a real character. Ian, ithink most england fans will remember that amazing toothless grin after winning the world cup. Is it true that it was hugh who was holding his false teeth . Yes, it is very true. In 1966, there were no substitutes, so all 22 players played the game, the final we were all 22 players played the game, the finalwe were in all 22 players played the game, the final we were in the dressing room, and 45 minutes before the kick off, the 11 who were not playing were going to make their way to the stand and get to the seats, and as we were going out of the dressing room, he said to me, can you do me a favour . Isaid said to me, can you do me a favour . I said what do you want . He said, if we win today, if we win the world cup, can you make sure you get to me . And he just gave me this handful of tissues. I took no notice, obviously, because of the excitement in the dressing room. It wasnt till i got to my seat in the stand that i we nt i got to my seat in the stand that i went to my pocket, opened the tissues up, and there were his teeth. You saw him after they won the world cup, doing the lap of honour, and he had the world cup on his head, socks round his ankles, and a great toothless smile. I never got to him. The teeth were in my pocket. They were in there until we got back to the dressing room. Probably a good thing because those pictures are so iconic. And ian, is it true that his eyesight was terrible . Yes, he wore glasses and obviously contact lenses when he played, he wasjust obviously contact lenses when he played, he was just a obviously contact lenses when he played, he wasjust a character, you know . Probably looking at him off the field, you would think he wasnt a footballer, but what a great one. He was. And mark, his trademark tackles were legendary, although im not sure they would be allowed in the game today. Was he given the credit, do you think, for the type of footballer that he was, and how good a footballer he was . No, he wasnt at the time. People just put a spin on that he was a dirty player, but he wasnt. His passing was extremely good. His tackling generally was good, occasionally miss times, but when we played together in the reserves, and sometimes because we were a bunch of kids playing these experienced professionals, he would go to the referee at the start of the game and say, these kids are my babies, so if this other team start kicking them, i will have to kick them back, so i suggest you keep a stern rain on the game. He was very clever, but a very good player, far better than people give him credit for. And finally, ian, what will be your abiding memory of him . You know, he was a fantastic character, and it is some years since i met up with him, obviously in a world cup reunion, and even then, you know, with the alzheimers he had, he was still a fantastic character and always lovely. We wouldnt see each other year in, yearout, lovely. We wouldnt see each other year in, year out, but it was always great to meet him. Gentlemen, said match chrome thank you so much for your memories of the great england, ireland and france are all still in with a chance of winning the title. England play italy in rome this afternoon, knowing that a bonus point win will give them the best chance at another six nations crown. Following that, it is top of the table ireland against france. By that point, both sides will know what is required to win the title. Owen farrell says all they can do is concentrate on themselves. The early game between wales and scotland will see a bit of rugby history made as wales captain Alun Wynn Jones plays his 149th test match, making him the most capped international of all time. I still enjoy it as much as ever, and hopefully the experiences that i have had have improved me, you know. Iam have had have improved me, you know. I am conscious that people say i havent done this or that, but ultimately, i enjoy what i do and where i do it, and i am conscious that, you know, how finite a career in sport is anyway. Hopefully i havent changed too much as a person, but hopefully improved as a professional. Incredible career from Alun Wyn Jones, and professional. Incredible career from alun wynjones, and his 149th cap today in wales as well, so a special moment for him. It would be a terrific occasion, and matt, we understand it is expected to be tipping it down for that game. Is that right . There will be some very heavy rain at times, but also some sunshine later. So a bit of good news in the forecast. All in all, a wild spell of weather this weekend. At times, heavy rain, and there will be some gales as well. With that comes the risk of flooding, particularly across the western half, and if you are on the move particular the ferries, check for travel disruption. Some of the bridges may have disruption. The wild weather today is storm aidan, named yesterday by the Irish Weather Service. It is on the southern edge where the strongest winds will push on across Northern Ireland and western scotland later, but it is pushing those heavy bursts of rain eastwards. Some intense downpours as it works across england and wales. Sunshine does come out later, so an improving day. Western scotland, Northern Ireland, further rain at times with lengthy berths in the west of scotland. Here, the wind will be at its strongest, particularly later on, up to 80 miles an hour gusts. The wind is coming from a southerly direction, so not desperately cold out there. But you want to be out of the wind and rain. This evening, rainfora time in scotland. Most places will see the wind eased down, and the rain is fora see the wind eased down, and the rain is for a while, but more wet and windy weather backed by the end of the night. Tempjust and windy weather backed by the end of the night. Temp just down to six or seven in parts of scotland and Northern England, before the cloud and rain rolls back in. Another area of low pressure tomorrow, containing the remains of a hurricane that was in the caribbean a few days ago. The wind tomorrow will not be a strong, but still touch and gale force at times, and it will whip up later in the north west of scotland. After some early rain, scotland and Northern Ireland will see some sunshine develop. A few brighter brea ks to sunshine develop. A few brighter breaks to the north east of england through sunday, but elsewhere england and where is fairly cloudy, most persistent in the west, and the wind could touch gale force. This date in the day across the Western Isles those winds could reach 80 mph. A cooler day tomorrow for scotla nd mph. A cooler day tomorrow for scotland and Northern Ireland, but still mild in the south. Further rain at times for england and wales, gradually clearing away by monday, and one or two showers around. Dont forget, tonight is halloween and it is lucky that it coincides with a full moon. Extra good news for the ghosts and the werewolves out there. I prefer you like that. Can we have more of that. Matt howls. Its halloween tonight, and as we all know, this year is going to be very different. Brea kfasts Jayne Mccubbin is taking a look at some of the different ways people are keeping the season spooky. We have rigged up the Thomas Family car cam to see them prepare for some covid safe scares because so far, this halloween has been. Very sad why . Because you cannot go trick or treating normally, they love it. Theyd be dressed up and everything to go around the village. Yeah, they do. It is a huge disappointment that you cant do it this year. Yeah. Right, Thomas Family. Shall we have one little practice on the scream . All scream. Off they go. Mums the best so far . Into one of the many scare attractions that are trying so hard to stay afloat this year. Thunder claps. Scary it is definitely an expanded industry and its getting bigger and bigger each year. And covid threatened that . It did, yeah especially for ourselves. We were opening in wrexham up until last week and the welsh National Lockdown actually threatened the very existence of our business. Had we not moved, we would have lost the business now so we put our thinking caps on and we moved it the border where theres no local lockdown restrictions. The scares must go on yeah, the show will go on, as we say in our industry, yeah, the show will go on. All scream. Behind each of these screams is a story. Can you please look to the camera and introduce yourself . Hi, i am kara. Wilson. As someone trying their best to keep the money coming in in our scariest of scary years. Hello, im billy and i work as a tree surgeon. This is not your day job, i can tell. 0k what is your dayjob . No, im a barber, i have my own salon in wrexham. Right. So youre in lockdown . Were in lockdown, yeah. Choppers barbershop, so. Im doing this to take up some time and. Make a buck. Make a buck, yeah. And hayley, what do you do by day . I am a full time actress. Screams. What ordinarily would you have been doing . Musical theatre tours. Lost every single contract i had from january straight through to december. Thats tough evil laugh. This is no contact halloween fun. But is the Old Fashioned trick or treat out this year . In scotland, wales and Northern Ireland, kids are asked not to. In england, it is allowed in tier one and two areas if you keep your distance and if you stick to the rule of six. But so many people are finding a way to keep the halloween spirit alive safely so. Hello, kate hello youve been thinking about everybody this halloween, havent you . I have been thinking about everybody, yes. All the wildlife i have in my garden. My children are grown up now. My halloween celebrations tend to concentrate on my feeding stations. And when i saw these little munchkins, they are called munchkin pumpkins, little tiny ones, as soon as i saw those i thought right, im going to do something with those. There is a wood mouse and a foal and you may see a shrew as well. Gorgeous, fantastic halloween. I will hello you is it fair to call you the queen of halloween . I think it is very accurate, yes i think that is the most sculptural piece. Artistically its superb. If you watch bake off then you will know me from last year, from being the halloween obsessed baker that turned every single challenge into a halloween challenge. What better way to say i love you then with some chocolate truffles in the shape of eyeballs . This year she has a challenge for us. Making the eye ball truffles, oreo cookies, cheese and cream cheese in the food processor. Make them into balls, freeze them and cover them in White Chocolate and when they set, paint the eyeball features on. Edible eyeballs, what is not to love . They are actually really, really tasty and lets get back to the scares in the car. God no oh, god i think i have had enough. I survived. As did the Thomas Family. I have been screaming. Ive been shouting all over them. Practice our scream on one time, kids . All scream. Whatever you do this halloween, stay safe, have fun. Jayne mccubbin, bbc news. It is 9 50am. The governments furlough scheme ends today. It was designed to keep employees in theirjobs while vast swathes of the economy were shut down lets take a look at the numbers. Before coronavirus, this company was doing booming business, but half its work has disappeared. The friday the fellow scheme was announced, i was pretty much close to tears. We were looking at making 200 people redundant. The government wage subsidy meant redundancies could be kept to around 90. Now, with many live event still not possible, a new job support scheme should prevent furtherjob job support scheme should prevent further job losses. Job support scheme should prevent furtherjob losses. We used to have 85 staff working in the two warehouses. We think we have only got enough work for about 25. But jss means we can actually keep 45 staff working part time, so we have got those 45 Skilled Staff when the work comes back in on the new year. And, brian says the cash Bonus Available for keeping on workers through to january on furlough will be an extra help. I have worked here just over 32 years. Andrew has been on part time fellow, and will go straight onto the jss. It means a lot. Job security is everything to me, especially in the industry that i love, and i have worked forfor so long. Another industry which has already shed jobs and businesses is hospitality. This man has two restau ra nts hospitality. This man has two restaurants in london and four in manchester. They are still serving, but under new restrictions, their takings are 30 of last year. The guys i do the rotors for, that hours have been cut dramatically and they have been cut dramatically and they have seen a massive difference in how much money they are making. The boss, david, has already closed one restau ra nt boss, david, has already closed one restaurant after failing to reach an agreement with the landlord. The job support scheme is welcome, though. The restaurant i have closed, i have got three chefs that i need to find work for. I have got one Position Available at another site, so i would be able to employ all three of them to work on that one position. Businesses which are forced to close because of government coronavirus restrictions can use a different version of thejob restrictions can use a different version of the job support scheme. The government will fund two thirds of staff wages for those firms, like this brewery in nottingham. We dont think it will be enough. We have just got to wait and see, but every little helps and the Government Support is the only reason we are still here. An economist told me its likely more people will end up out of work. We are forecasting that unemployment will rise up to 5. 9 , which compares with 3. 9 before the crisis. Its not as high as it would have been had the government not announce the job support scheme, but the worry of course is what happens next year. Not all sectors will need more help, but there are signs the shine has come off the economy s summer bounce back, and Companies Like these trying to be optimistic are farfrom certain like these trying to be optimistic are far from certain the pain like these trying to be optimistic are farfrom certain the pain is over. Before we finish, i think we should pick up on the theme of optimism. Yes, absolutely. We hear some tough things, but we hear how people are making things better. Staff from the Worcestershire Royal hospital went the extra mile to try to make their patient izzy smile. The five year old is a huge ballet fan so the medics put on their tutus, and gave the performance of their lives all whilst being critiqued by izzy. Lets take a look. Laughter. Music from swan lake. Izzy gives out the instructions. We can talk to her and her mum, vicky, and also one of the dancing doctors. Good morning to you both. Izzy, that looked like so much fun. Hello. How was it . What did you think of those dancing doctors . They danced just for you. I was surprised. You gave them some instructions. Do you think they danced well for you . Them some instructions. Do you think they danced well for you . Yes. Vicky, what a lovely surprise. Izzy having her treatment, having chemotherapy, it is tough and you know the doctors are doing as much as they can, but going this extra step to bring joy and happiness to izzy. How was it for you . It was lovely, a lovely surprise for her add on for me. We all had a big laugh and it was nice to have a laugh and it was nice to have a laugh sometimes when other things are not as fun. Just a nice thing forfamilies to are not as fun. Just a nice thing for families to do something fun and silly. Can ijust explain that one of the doctors who did that dance is listening right now. Izzy, is there anything you would like to say to the doctor who danced for you . Is there anything you would like to say about his dancing . Thank you. Yes, we would also like to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses at worcester hospital, and also at Birmingham Childrens hospital for all the care they have given izzy over the last few months. We are very grateful to them. Very well said. It is a lovely gesture you did, doctor, and a little thank you therefrom izzy. A special moment. It is something that you just thought, why not . It was that, spur of the moment. I want to point out, my dancing partner was one of our play therapy team leaders, emma, and she was a good sport. Until 30 seconds before she did that, she didnt know she would be wearing a tutu either. Was this your idea . So, izzy had been on the ward a couple of months previously, and she had been teaching the nurses how to play, and i was elsewhere within the trust, so not, play, to do ballet, and i was elsewhere so i missed out. I said the next time we saw her, i would show her what i had learned from a ballet point of view. I was wearing a pink top because it was think pink for Breast Cancer day, and then my other partner in crime, our excellent clinical Nurse Specialist dawn, sent me off to get a tutu, and icame dawn, sent me off to get a tutu, and i came back with two and it just spiralled from there. It was very impromptu. I have been humbled by the response. Doctor, you will know better than any of us, the amazing resilience of children who are going through such difficult times in a hospital like yours. Is there anything you would like to say to izzy this morning . We have told her she is amazing, she has had a hugely rough ride, as have her family. Her parents have been amazing, too. The respect i have for them, i cant express in words. I would like to thank izzy and her family for putting trust in us to care for her. It isa putting trust in us to care for her. It is a real privilege. Well, you put that so eloquently, but i know it vicky and izzy, you can see the doctor there, would you like to give him a wave as we get to the end of the programme . Brilliant. Iam him a wave as we get to the end of the programme . Brilliant. I am so glad. It has been so lovely to talk to you. Do take care of yourselves. Thank you, doctor, we really appreciate what you are doing. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. That is all from breakfast today. Do enjoy the rest of your weekend. Goodbye.
