Moving and obviously going through those images and seeing all those different stories, some of which are, you know, joyful and heart warming, some of which are profoundly moving or even harrowing, it is something that i think has really stayed with all of us. A Rainbow Playground at a school in norfolk, short cut features a tense diy haircut using dog clippers, and taken by big sister marcella, home schooling in dagenham. Congratulating all those who submitted a portrait, the queen has said in a statement that she had been inspired to see how the photographs have captured the resilience of the british people at such a challenging time. Sarah campbell, bbc news. Time for a look at the weather. It is hot, ben. Yes, indeed simon, for most of us very warm weather today, certainly for the time of year but the weekend brought something very different across the north west of scotland. Heavy rain, gave flooding in some place, it is drier here today, thankfully, but it is where we have the best of the sunshine across england and wales that we see the highest of the temperatures today. A largely dry week ahead. Very warm at first but it will turn a bit cooler later on in the week, so this is the satellite picture, this stripe of cloud is what brought the heavy rain in the north west of scotland over the weekend. Clear skies you will notice over the near continent because of an area of High Pressure. On the western side of that high we are pulling in southerly winds, that is what is pulling in the very warm airfor most of us, is what is pulling in the very warm air for most of us, the best of the sunshine in england and wales more cloud for Northern Ireland and scot. Some splashes of rain but not as wet as it has been in north west scotland. But with the extra cloud maybe 20 degree, towards the south of england possibly 30. We havent been to 30 in september since 2016. Through this evening an tonight the rain in Northern Ireland and scot will pep up for a time, so heavier bursts here and there. The odd showerfor bursts here and there. The odd shower for wales bursts here and there. The odd showerfor wales and bursts here and there. The odd shower for wales and the south west, otherwise england and wales keeping clear spell, the odd fog patch to the east and it will be a mild night. Early fog will clear quickly and its a largely sunny day tomorrow, though some low cloud will happen on to the north east coasts turning its grey. Brightening up after a soggy start in Northern Ireland, scotland drying up for the most part, although some rain will continue in the far north, we could see showers in southern scotland and maybe north west england later in the day. Warm foreterre likes of glasgow and belfast tomorrow and we could get to 30, this time most likely across east anglia. But a change in the weather pattern as we head into wednesday. High pressure still in charge but this time it is a high building infrom still in charge but this time it is a high building in from the atlantic, and the flow of wind round this area of High Pressure will start to pull in northerly winds, no more warm soothedly, we will bring in significantly cooler air through the middle of the week in the northern half of the uk to the north ofa northern half of the uk to the north of a weather front. It will brick the odd spot of rain on wednesday but generally speaking it will be dry. Murky for some north sea coasts and the temperatures, 13 17 degrees, further south still up into to 20s but not the real warmth we have at the moment. We stick with that cooler feel for the end of the week, particularly in the north, largely dry, a bit of rain in north west scotland, further south, the temperatures bounce back a bit, but not nearly as warm as it is right 110w not nearly as warm as it is right now and fairly breezy as thats all from the bbc news at one, so its goodbye from me, good afternoon. Australia were cruising to victory but englands bowlers turned it around as the tourists slumped from 144 for 2 to 207 all out. Adil rashid took the last wicket and there were three each for woakes, jofra archer and sam currran. Thats all the sport for now. Scotlands first minister Nicola Sturgeon says a total of 70 people have tested positive for coronavirus in scotland in the past 24 hours. That brings the total number of people testing positive in scotland to 22,749. But she urged caution over the figures saying that because of the backlog in tests being processed across the uk, these numbers may be incomplete. It is important that i am frank that we now have a very serious concern that the backlog of test results being faced by the uk lab network which the Glasgow Lighthouse Lab is part of it starting to impact on the reporting of scottish results. We have been raising these concerns with the uk government in recent days and over the over the weekend the Health Secretary managed to resist a move to limit access to testing slots. Mobile testing units and regional testing centres. However, this apparent delay in turnaround is causing us concern and therefore we will be seeking to escalate these discussions with the uk government over the course of today. Let me stress that we are keen, very keen to play our full part in addressing these issues and finding solutions to them urgently but we need the uk government to share the full scale and nature of the issues we are facing and impact they are having on scotland in order that we can collectively and very quickly find solutions. We will be seeking to escalate these discussions with the uk government over the course of today. 24 hours, we will give an update including any changes to these figures as soon as possible. I can also confirm that 264 patients are currently in hospital with confirmed coronavirus can abide more than yesterday, and seven people are in intensive care, the same number as yesterday. I can also confirm in the last 24 hours no deaths were confirmed to patients who tested positive over the previous 28 days and the total number of deaths under this measurement is still 2499. I think it is worth reflecting on the sad fact that it was exactly six months ago yesterday that the first death from coronavirus was confirmed in scotland. That death, and each and every one we have seen since then has been a source of grief and heartbreak to families across the country and therefore i want again today to pass on my condolences to everyone who has lost someone. And in wales, face masks have to be worn in shops by everyone aged 11 and over from today and they too have introduced the rule of six. A little earlier the Wales Health Minister Vaughan Gething spoke about the changes to guidance and new trends in cases. We are working closely with each of the local authorities and Public Health experts to understand these writers and to put in place measures to help control the spread of the virus. There are many similarities. We are also updating our coronavirus control plan to increase the range of measures that we have to respond to local outbreak. These include actions which have been introduced elsewhere in the uk, ireland and further afield. These include the possible introduction of cu rfews, curfews, restricting cu rfews, restricting alcohol sales and changing pub operations, including the possibility of shorter Opening Hours or only selling alcohol with food. You will of course be aware that local restrictions were introduced in the Caerphilly Borough last week to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. The three specific restrictions introduced were face coverings to be worn in all indoor public places, no meetings indoors but that means extended households have been suspended for the time being and people are not able to enter or leave the borough unless they have a reasonable excuse. I know that these new rules will be difficult for many people who live in the caerphilly area. For some they will feel like an imposition and an inconvenience but the feedback we have had from the police has been positive and compliance has been good. We are continuing to see new places which is to be expected, due to the time between inspection and symptoms. Infection. We are seeing a change in the pattern of infection with more people now testing in their 405 and 50s people now testing in their 405 and 505 testing positive. The situation in Merthyr Tydfil i5 505 testing positive. The situation in Merthyr Tydfil is more complex. There is a cluster of cases linked to people working in a company. We are also seeing cases linked to the Caerphilly Borough, a5 are also seeing cases linked to the Caerphilly Borough, as well as those associated with socialising without social distance and imported cases from holiday travel. In taken a case are largely centred on the lower Rhondda Valley and a link to people socialising without social distancing and returns from holidays. We have seen a small cluster of cases linked to a caravan park. There were local measures on thursday to help control the spread of the virus. We are working closely with local authorities to see if further action is needed, including local restrictions. In newport, we are seeing a rapid rise in cases following a similar pattern to what we saw following a similar pattern to what we saw earlier in caerphilly. At the heart of it appears to be a party over the Bank Holiday Weekend which led to 80 new cases of coronavirus, many of whom visited other venues on nights and was infectious. Public health wales yesterday asked people who had visited a list of bars and pubs in the city to be aware of the symptoms of coronavirus. Lets remind you of our top story the new rules which make it illegal to gather in a group of more than six people in england from today. Jim reed has more on the new regulations and how they change across the uk. Social distancing rules are very different depending on what part of the uk you live. In general, everything is still based on the two metre rule. If you can, you have to stay that distance away from anyone you dont live with. In some places, like pubs, it can be a metre apart if other measures are in place. Those living alone can also form what is called a support bundle to make an extended group that is treated as one single household. In england and scotland, those bubbles can also include the children of single parents. In wales, the rules are different and up to fourfamilies of any size can combine in a giant support bubble. If you want to meet up with friends or relatives in a completely different household, it all depends on where you meet. Starting with outdoors. In england, the rules have now changed. The number of people who can meet in a park or back garden has been cut from 30 to six. That law will not apply to weddings, funerals or organised team sports. In scotland, the limit is six from two households. Children aged 11 and under do not count in that total. In wales, the maximum number is being kept at 30. In Northern Ireland, it is 15 people outside. Then there is indoors. If you want someone to come inside your house, the rules are different in every part of the uk. In england, the limit is six people including children, the same as it is outside. In scotland, six people can meet but only from two households. Children aged 11 and under dont count inat total. In wales, it is also six from one extended Household Group or bubble. Children ten and under are not counted. Northern ireland has the strictest rules, six people from two households including children. Pubs, restaurants and shops will remain open that people can only attend in those groups of six and places of worship will also stay open. Again the same limit of six people in each group. Those are the general rules but then there are local lockdowns as well. Those living in these areas may be subject to extra restrictions which you can find online. Meanwhile, its emerged the labour leader sir keir starmer has been advised to self isolate after a member of his household showed possible symptoms of the coronavirus. London city airport has announced it is cutting up to 35 of its staff, as part of what is calls crucial restructuring plans. Up to 329 jobs will be lost at the airport, which was closed for nearly three months during the coronavirus pandemic. Scheduled flights are now back up and running, but with passenger numbers at well below normal levels, a consultation with staff has begun on ways to reduce costs. Israel is to become the first country in the world to re impose a national lockdown. The tough new restrictions to begin on friday follow a sharp upsurge in coronavirus cases, as paul hawkins reports. Thousands of israelis are protesting about their Prime Minister. And its notjust his corruption trial. It is also the way hes handled the coronavirus pandemic. Confirmed infections are now 4,000 a day in a population of 9 million so he is reintroducing a national lockdown, the first country in the world to do so. Translation on thursday, they waved a red flag. Health Ministry Executives and hospital managers have warned us that death rates are forcing the application of immediate measures. Some medical staff and hospitals are overwhelmed. That means a return to empty streets like these. No one allowed to go more than 500 metres from their home, outdoor groups are limited to 20 people, and only ten indoors. Schools and places of worship shut. And that matters enormously. The jewish new year starts on friday, normally a time when families get together. But this year, the synagogues will be empty. It has led the ultra orthodox housing minister, yaakov litzman, to resign in protest but its not something the government wants to reintroduce, calculating it will cost the already recession hit economy 1. 9 billion. The first rule of virus economics is that you must control the virus. You are never going to get on top of your economy and your Economic Growth if the virus is out of control. The government insists it has not lost control of the virus, even though it is the first country in the world to abandon the difficultjuggling act between keeping the economy open and protecting Public Health. That is still happening in countries like the uk which uses regional lockdowns. Cases here however are rising again, meaning from monday, restrictions come into force banning social gatherings of more than six people in england, scotland and wales. Groups larger than six can be broken up by police with fines of £100 for a first offence. The idea is to put off the rule breakers. Which is why these Health Care Workers in belgium took to the streets to voice their anger at those who flout the rules and make theirjobs harder. The latest figures from the World Health Organization show a record one day increase in confirmed infections with 307,000 reported in just 24 hours. And deaths up by 5,500, bringing the worldwide total to over 900,000. The biggest increases are in the usa, india and brazil. More than half of the worlds 28 million cases are now in the americas. Infections around the world are rising again. Governments are keen not to follow israels lead. The bbcs yolande knell injerusalem has more on israels plans. Israel had a very good performance early on in the pandemic when it imposed tight border restrictions. It also had a very effective track and trace system. That really all fell apart as many experts believed that schools and businesses were allowed to open too quickly. There was a question about whether there should be in the red hot spots, their places of the highest incidence of coronavirus around the country new restrictions put in place from last week. There were some local opposition to that. Those locations were concentrated in arab israeli parts of the country and also in areas where there is a high number of people who are ultra orthodox. Now israel has had the cabinet voted on this second national lockdown due to last for three weeks. It is estimated it will cost the economyjust under 2 billion. Mr netanyahu said it would exact a heavy price on everyone, particularly with thejewish Bank Holidays coming up. It is not the kind of holiday we are used to that at the start of the jewish new year, this is the eve of thejewish new year on friday, the new restrictions will come into place meaning israelis will not be able to go more than 500 metres from their homes. There will be able to go to their workplaces, supermarkets will be open and government offices on a very limited basis. Crucially, synagogues will be very heavily restricted because of rules on indoor gatherings. We are still getting details of the rules but basically for prayers in synagogues it will depend on the number of cases there are any around the Place Of Worship but also the size of of the building itself. The greek Prime Minister says a permanent Migrant Reception Centre will be built on the island of lesbos to replace the moria camp, which was destroyed by fire last week. The blaze left more than 12,000 Asylum Seekers without shelter. Some residents of lesbos say hosting a new camp is too much of a burden for their small island. The migrants want the chance to be resettled elsewhere. The bbcs bethany bell is there. We are in front of the new Camp Facility which is being set up on lesbos and we have seen small groups of people, particularly with children, coming here to be processed. But many, many people, many of the migrants and refugees we had spoken to say they refuse to come to a new camp. They want to be given the opportunity of moving on somewhere else and earlier this morning we went to the big coastal road where many have been camping out for several nights for sitting at the side of the road or in supermarket car parks. The police would not let us film there but then we went to a burnt out ruins near the old moria camp and in the olives groves we met a woman from afghanistan and she says she will not come to this new camp. Translation they are taking us to prison. We do not have freedom. I have been here for nine months. I lost my two and a half year old son in the sea. They want to take as from one prison to another. I have tried several times to take my own life. I attempted suicide but didnt die. If they take us to the new plan, i will definitely kill myself. The new camp. We came here for a better life, for ourselves and our kids but i dont see the difference between here and afghanistan. And their sense of despair is palpable wherever you meet people. There is also a big sense of frustration among the locals here in lesbos. They say for far too long they have had to deal with the migrants and refugees arriving on their shores, that the rest of europe has abandoned them and we had from the great prime heard from the greek Prime Minister yesterday, saying they are going to build a new asylum Processing Centre here on lesbos and he has called for much more european involvement. The locals say this small tourist island shouldnt have to deal with that. They say there is no european solidarity. They want to see these migrants and refugees move on as much as migrants and refugees themselves. But for the moment it appears that they are simply stuck, that the authorities are hoping to get them into temporary shelters soon because there is a great deal of worry about the lack of sanitation, especially at a time of the coronavirus pandemic. Now its time for a look at the weather with ben rich. Look at the beautiful blue skies from a weather watcher in west wales. It will stay largely drive.
