The yorkshire batsman says he feels privileged, humbled, and very excited. And who would have thought bell ringing was a dangerous hobby . Well, sadly one man at Worcester Cathedral knows first hand. Good evening and welcome to bbc news. A bbc investigation has exposed widespread drug abuse and Security Failings at one of britains biggest prisons. An undercover reporter from the bbcs Panorama Team spent two months working as a Prison Officer at a privately run prison in northumberland. He found inmates threatening staff and even a hole in a prison security fence. The Ministry Ofjustice says its looking into the allegations. Heres our special correspondent ed thomas. Undercover in one of our biggestjails. Bbc panorama filmed the drugs feeding addiction inside. And the staff pushed to their limits. Hmp northumberland is a private jail run by the French Company sodexo and home to more than 1,300 inmates. And for two months, bbc panoramas joe fenton. On his first day, 2. 5 kilograms of spice, an illegal high with a prison value of £250,000, was found in two cells. Despite this, panorama was told there was no lockdown, so the block could be completely searched. The bbc secretly filmed inmates high on drugs. This man had taken spice. The reporter also witnessed a Prison Officer on the floor, suffering a seizure, after accidentally inhaling spice. And then theres the violence. Cctv cameras recorded an inmate being stamped on. At one point, panoramas reporter was threatened by an inmate. The bbc discovered a serious Security Breach alarms on two doors werent working. Nearby, officers found wire cutters and later a hole in an inner security fence. It meant drugs could have been smuggled into the jail. The reporter asked the governor what went wrong. So who will take responsibility for this jails failures . Today the Justice Secretary confirmed an investigation is under way. Do you think sodexo should be running this jail, liz truss . Were conducting an investigation on this issue. I take this issue very seriously, that is why we are investing in 2500 officers across our prisons. What about hmp northumberland, though . Thank you very much. As for sodexo, the company that runs the prison, they said the safety of staff and inmates is their top priority. You can see the full Undercover Investigation tonight. In wales at the later time of 10 40pm. Well we can speak now to labours lord faulkner, whos a former Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary. Everyone seems to agree that the cuts in 2010, Ministry Ofjustice in that department, it wasnt ring fenced and it was hit by austerities put is, and that has paid a big part in this. Even the government admits that. What do you put the rise in oui that. What do you put the rise in our Prison Population, doubling in the last couple of decades, down to, thatis the last couple of decades, down to, that is causing enormous strange in prison as well. Different attitudes to Sexual Violence, violence, and heavy drug dealing. Societys attitude to nasty violence, Sexual Violence changed quite significantly over those 20 years. The example, convictions and sentences for rape, but Domestic Violence went up dramatically and i do not think that the public have an appetite in relation to those sorts of crimes to reduce the levels of penalties. If you look at where the big increase occurred between 1992 and 2002, which is where all the doubling occurred, it was in those areas. Where almost all the doubling occurred. It is interesting because we put in more people to prison compared to the italians, the french, the germans. While the Prison Population has doubled in recent yea rs Prison Population has doubled in recent years crime has halved, correct . Is one of the reason that we put more people in prison, in addition to the fact that we have higher sentences, is because we have a higher detection rate. In terms of the percentage of crimes that acts to detect it and convicted they are higher than places like italy. I think the key question from our Point Of View is, is the custody threshold, what you have got to do to go to custody in the right place . I think to go to custody in the right place . Ithink in to go to custody in the right place . I think in most areas it is, other sentences too long, they are in some cases, for example white collar crime. I also think we send to people dashed to many people to prison pending a trial and then they did good prison. We send to many people to prison pending a trial. I think they are unfair and not providing adequate Public Protection and number should be that used. But, should there be a wholesale change . Added think they should in terms of custody, we need more attempt to reduce people reoffending, but we will not achieve anything as long as the prisons remain the shambles that the prisons remain the shambles that the Panorama Programme, i havent seen all of it, ive heard extracts, it is just seen all of it, ive heard extracts, it isjust more seen all of it, ive heard extracts, it is just more and more evidence that the government appears to be abandoning its duty towards the public service. There has been a week of reports on how appalling the nhs is underfunded and now this. Why are they not doing anything about it . She appears to acknowledge it was the courts in 2010 that started it, and does nothing, she doesnt even come on this programme at any programme to defend herself. We would love to see on this programme at any other programme, but she has decided not to. Just interrupted, she said she was not going to produce the Prison Population, 0k, perfectly legitimate, then make sure you can guard the prisons. 0k, she would say she was trying to get another 2500. Would say she was trying to get another 2500. That they will be coming. Going back to sentencing, you seem coming. Going back to sentencing, you seem to differ with lost trust on this, lord woolf, former Chief Justice says that chief hans are too tied when it comes to sentencing. The criminaljustice act 2003, you are part of the government this in, obligesjudges to hand out like sentences including abduction and sexual misconduct, but lied to them to hand them a 30 year minimum sentence in a series of other scenarios including murders, obliges judges to hand down a minimum of 15 yea rs judges to hand down a minimum of 15 years for all murders that do not fit into a number of these categories. Judges do not have much leeway in order to trying keep the sentences down. This former Chief Justice said that was part of the problem. They do have some leeway, but you are right that the 2003 Criminaljustice Act Set Starting Point for things like very severe Sexual Violence for explosives killing people, for the killing of more than one Prison Officer, for the killing of more than one child, andi the killing of more than one child, and i dont think those sentences are out of line with what the mood and the legitimate sense is. Ash in and the legitimate sense is. Ash in a legitimate sense is. Its not those particular sentences that are causing the overcrowding, it is caused much more by less severe Sexual Violence then the extreme cases you have indicated. There should be a debate on that. You believe. You are saying you dont think the public appetite is there. Are these guidelines there because ofa are these guidelines there because of a pretty vehement press and sections of society that make it clear you cannot be soft and crime. Do prisons really work . What is the purpose of prison . Whether you are dealing with crime such as killing more than one child, it is not to rehabilitate it is to punish and to make absolutely clear that someone that dangerous will be imprisoned for as long as it takes. I think thatis for as long as it takes. I think that is the right attitude in relation to it. I do think there are other areas above sample white collar crimes and non violent and nonsexual crimes, there has been sentenced inflation and people go to prison the two lungs. But, people have to be clear that in relation to the sorts of crimes we have affected that the state will pick a top view and that is right. Because if you dont, people will lose faith in the criminal Justice System. Dont, people will lose faith in the criminalJustice System. The sta ple ta ke criminalJustice System. The staple take a path view. Just as they will if they see the sorts of scenes that the Panorama Programme on skin to show about northumberland prison. No confidence that people are being properly guarded. Thank you for coming in. 4 people have been killed in an avalanche in the french alps while they were Skiing Off Piste this morning. They were in the resort of tignes near val disere. Those who died were all french and local media are reporting that they were a father and two teenage sons as well as their ski guide. The resort is particularly busy at this time of year with french and British School holidays. A group of snowboarders, including an experience gathering to teenage boys had been off piste when they we re boys had been off piste when they were buried by a wall of snow. Around 11am i was in a ski shop and the ski teacher recorded an emergency on their walkie talkie, Literally Ran Out and jumped on their ski bike. I go out and i could see the trace of the avalanche that had just happened and helicopters starting to arrive. Went back to my chalet opposite the mountain and i could see all afternoon i could see a huge amount of Mountain Rescue at the top of a aoo metre large hollow where the snow accumulated. Initially rescuers for there were more people who had been part of the group, but they up up to be safe. Rescuers are still searching the area for other possible victims, avalanches are common in the alps, although this incident is the worst in france this ski season, so far. Last year 21 people were killed in skiing accidents. President trump and the canadian Prime Minister have stressed the historical bonds between their two countries after their first meeting in terry. Mr trudeau said any changes to the north American Free trade agreement, must ensure the free flow of goods and services. Prime minister i pledge to work with you in pursuit of our many shared interests, including a stronger shared relationship in the United States and canada, and includes safer travel and migration. It includes Close Partnership on domestic and interNational Security. America is deeply fortunate to have a neighbour like canada. We have before us the opportunity to believe in more bridges and bridges of cooperation and pictures of commerce. Meanwhile the canadian Prime Minister was keen to secure agreements with the environment president. He said trade and Energy Cooperation should not compromise responsibilities to protect the environment. At the end of the day the president and i share a common goal, we both wanted to make sure that hard working folks can go to weather a good job, put food on the table for their families and save up to take a vacation every once in awhile. That what were trying to do here will start today we reiterated that our nations are committed to collaborating on Energy Infrastructure projects that will create jobs while respecting the environment. As we know, investing in infrastructure is a great way to create the kind of Economic Growth that our country so desperately need. Justin trudeau there. Joining me on the line now from ottawa is cbcs rob russo. Good to see you, thank you for being with us. All smiles on the surface, both men on agreement on a number of issues. Behind the scenes there is a lot that divides these two neighbours, is in the . Absolutely dont know if we could find to leaders of Western Democracy that could be further apart or more unlike each other. Were talking not chalk and cheese. 0ne unlike each other. Were talking not chalk and cheese. One is a sort of right wing populist at times, the other is the sort of very left wing liberal. And yet, they had to try and find some Common Ground particularly the canadian Prime Minister, this is a 2 billion a day relationship but canada with millions ofjobs at stake. What were they turn to do the canadians . Stick toa they turn to do the canadians . Stick to a very narrow path and look out for landmines and either side, immigration, Climate Change, security, those sorts of things. Nafta, is an issue, as well and president from told the lot about mexico rather than canada, suggesting it would be difficult talking to the mexicans in terms of the drawing the boundaries of nafta. What can the canadians or might the canadians have do fear from what can the canadians or might the canadians have do fearfrom donald trump if he wants to rewrite the rules of the Free Trade Agreement . think about 70 of canadas exports go to the United States. Any kind of twitch from the american Terry Americans and we should do. There could have been much to fear. But if you go over the text of what President Trump says, i can take that canadian officials are delighted. It couldnt be closer to what they wanted if they didnt scripted themselves. What president am sad is that they will treat nafta at little, what President Trump said. The real problem is mexico, and if you look a Prime Minister trudeau, you heard courageous silence him on that front while mexico is being passed under the loss. Very interesting what about the environment. Passed under the environment. Passed under the bus. We know that president tom says that Climate Change is something cooked up by President Trump. Says that Climate Change is cooked up by the chinese government. How can they see eye to eye on this . They chose to ignore their differences on this, by minister trudeau believes in a carbon tax, where they do agree is on the exploitation of canadas considerable oil and the actual gas wealth. The Prime Minister is delighted that president. Has signed off on a pipeline to get canadian oil down into benighted state where president 0bama, said no. So, they stuck to that very narrow thing where they agreed and chose to ignore many of the issues they disagreed on. Good stuff, you will be busy for the next few years, good to see you. Rob russo from putter canadian and well find out how this story, and many others, are covered in tomorrows front pages. At 10 40 this evening in the papers, our guestsjoining me tonight are claire cohen, womens editor of the Daily Telegraph and broadcaster david davies. Stay with us for that. The minister ofjustice. President trump and the canadian Prime Minister have stressed their commitment to working together at that first meeting in washington. At least four people have died in an avalanche in france. For the first time, pensioners are on average better off than people of working age. Research by the think tank, the Resolution Foundation says a new wave of pensioners are more likely than previous generations, to own their home, have generous private pensions and still be working. Simon gompertz reports. Pensioners incomes rolling ahead with Company Pensions, their own homes, even above inflation increases in the State Pension. These pensioners in harrow say money can still be tight. When you retire, youre fine. Seven years down the line, everythings gone up. My husband and i had Company Pensions and got the State Pension and we have paid more for our house, so quite comfortable. If i didnt have a private pension, no way could i be bowling. Going back to 2001 and after paying Housing Costs like rent and mortgage, Pensioner Households had £70 a week less on average to spend than working families. Then there was a big switchover four years ago so now Pensioner Householders are £20 a week better off. More cash in their pockets especially if they have paid off the mortgage. Whats pushing up Pensioner Incomes is this Younger Generation of pensioners born after the war who are now retiring with good Company Pension schemes, owning their own home, often with the mortgage paid off, and the challenge is if you look 20 years ahead that could be a real problem for Younger Generations who will not retire with the same advantages. So if its current pensioners who are winning, some say levels the Playing Field by being less generous about increases in the State Pension, but that would mean when todays younger people retire they would be up against it. Fewer own a home or have a quality private pension. Its important they have better pensions and find it easier to buy into the housing market. 0n the pension side of things they are saving much less than older generations. We think they need to save more. Government has a role in this because they set the default rate for savings. Were asking government to increase that over the next decade. Even today there is a growing divide among the elderly. Many newly retired people are wealthier, many older pensioners just scraping by. They would object to being called better off. With me is the personalfinance expertjasmine birtles. Good to see you. Lets pick up on that last point, that a lot of pensioners would say, i dont feel particularly rich compared to a few yea rs particularly rich compared to a few years ago. Yes, we are averages here. On average you could say that older people are better off, but there are a lot of people, women particularly, he was saying no way, all ive got is my State Pension and all ive got is my State Pension and a few benefits, because a lot of women who are the tide age didnt have the opportunity to build up their own pensions and investments will start you are the retirement age. It is a mixed back, you have them on one hand and the others who have managed to buy their own property, may be downsized bought another properly, all of that. It is a mixed bag. 0k bought another properly, all of that. It is a mixed bag. Ok for those pensioners who are doing well is it that they are earning more, all much better off than the rest of us, or is it that we have got poorer . This is something that has been pointed out, they are doing better, but also that in particular millennial s have had benefits taken away millennial s have had benefits ta ken away and millennial s have had benefits taken away and things have got a lot more expensive. The baby boomers that are retiring and have the tide already have had three partially education, greece schooling three health, the house prices will way lower than they were now free schooling. They have had the advantages that the current working age generat|on advantages that the current Working Age Generation dont have. Advantages that the current Working Age Generation dont havem advantages that the current Working Age Generation dont have. It used to be the case that Success Generations got richer than the previous generations but thats clearly not happening exactly, not at the moment. The good thing you could say to millennials is that they have a very long time to build up they have a very long time to build up that money because already we are lasting way along that their wheel expected and babies born now are likely to live until a. Then we all expected. So, they have quite a long time to work and build up some sort of investment, so even if you have problems at the moment even if you put a bit aside now, you have quite a few decades with the build up. So, not all bad news for millennials. People in their 20s might be thinking theres plenty of time to worry about pension they will deal with it when they are in their 30s, but they need to start now. They really do, and whatever age you are at even if you are 20, once you understand about compound interest, about putting money into the stock market, and see how much it builds up you wish you would have known it ten years ago. I say to people in their 20s, even if you only have a tenner or £25 a month that you could put into something. As little as that . Is little as that, a sensible minimum that you can put into the stock market. 0ver time, seriously, that will build up into something quite impressive. Create advice. Thank you for that. Weight advice. John has the weather. Hi there, for some of us it was grey and cold, for others it was lovely and sunny and felt a lot warmer. We will all get milder made to this week. Tonight, chilly, again, particularly where you have clear skies, not far freezing. A lot of Cloud Covers Eastern Scotland and Far North East Of England. Some Rain Turning Up across the far South West Of England as we head towards running time. Morning time. Temperatures close to freezing. So, a chilly start of the daybook bright and sunny for many of those. The Far North East Of England and eastern will struggle the sunshine. Cloudy and chilly. Dampness across the far south west will push up across other parts of the west countries, some of the southern count to use, wales, knocking on the door of Northern Ireland later on. It wont amount to much of some Sunshine Reappearing across the far south west later on. Mild across many southern and Western Areas and another chilly day across the north at least. The north and the east. But, as mentioned at the start, the rest of this week will turn mild for all of us. The price we pay will be a little bit of rain. Hello. This is bbc news. The headlines at 8 30pm. Move away from me unless you want me to use it on you. A bbc Undercover Investigation has found widespread drug abuse and Security Failings at one of englands biggest jails. Thejustice minister liz truss says there should be no dangerous quick fixes to cut prisoner numbers. She said Overcrowding Injails was down to the Justice System being better at catching Sex Offenders and violent criminals. This will not be fixed in weeks or months. But if we are resolute we will see our society safer and we will see our Prison Population reduce. President trump and the canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have stressed their commitment to working together at their first meeting in washington. In the french alps an avalanche has killed four holiday makers Skiing Off Piste near the resort of tignes, near val disere. The Bank Of England has welcomed a decision by investors to put the Co Op Bank Up for sale. Four years after its near collapse, managers now say it doesnt have enough Capital Reserves for regulators. Tesco has promised urgent action after a bbc investigation found many advertised promotions had actually expired. More now on the news that the canadian Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau has been meeting President Trump in washington. Speaking of the last mr trump stressed the ties between the two countries and said would continue to Work Together for Greater Trade Links and fight against terrorism. 0ur Correspondent is in washington. These two men it has to be said behind the scenes, there is not a lot that you can say they have in common in terms of policy, but because they are neighbours they have to get on and it is clear from the Press Conference they were trying to do that. I think that is definitely the case. They will have to work with each other over the next four years, so they will have to find a way of making peace with their differences on things like free trade, international affairs, on things like free trade, internationalaffairs, immigration in particular, the refugee resettlement. So when you heard them talking today, about how important their economic bonds are, very large market for each other as far as trade goals, and National Security is important for both of them. Every time they were presented with a question they try to turn it into some sort of way of Finding Unity rather than being divisible, trudeau said he didnt come down to Washington To Lecture Americans and how they are doing their government and that he prefers to lead his own country and show the canadian way that way. But now for incidence is worth 2 billion a day apparently for the canadian exchequer. Mr trump misses around with that too much that could be a big problem for the canadian people. Absolutely the last question was from a French Canadian journalist and ask their rest we about nafta and the negotiation and what effect it would have on canadianjobs. What effect it would have on canadian jobs. Canada is what effect it would have on canadianjobs. Canada is the uss largest trading partner, about 70 of canadian products that go abroad go into the United States so there isa go into the United States so there is a very large economic stake in any kind of Re Negotiation and think he wants to lay out that they need to Work Together to come up with some sort of equitable, fair but profitable type of nafta going forward. Donald trump in the same question, is as did enjoy talk at all about the canadian economy. He said he is bring jobs back to the us and of the companies he had ramping up and of the companies he had ramping up investment in the us and took credit for that himself. He knows that he has to make his economic appeal to the American People and the american voters. He said he won an election based on it and he didnt seem particularly concerned about ca nadas economy. Didnt seem particularly concerned about canadas economy. But both men are happy about, it seems, and agree on, is the reopening of this pipeline coming from canada down to United States, this oil pipeline. Good news for the canadian economy. How does that square however with Justin Trudeaus environmental credentials . During the canadian General Election in 2016, 2015, he had to walk a fine line between the canadian environmentalist liberal policies and how much of their economy depends on the energy sector. If canada actually did pretty well through the Global Economic recession, and that was largely because of the strength of their energy sector, the oilfields, their energy sector, the oilfields, the shale oilfields their energy sector, the oilfields, the Shale Oil Fields in western canada, so he has had to walk the fine line for quite some time and he was a supporter of the pipeline and yet he tried to talk about doing it in an environmentally sensitive way and that was an area where he had real disagreements with barack 0bama, so there is Common Ground there. Donald trump very quickly when he was inaugurated, setting the wheels in motion to reopen construction of this Keystone Xl Pipeline going through the central us, so, yes, they canfind pipeline going through the central us, so, yes, they can find some sort of agreement there definitely. Good to see you. Thank you. Almost 200,000 People Living below americas tallest dam were ordered to leave their homes last night amid fears that part of it could collapse and flood the area. The authorities warned that both Overflow Channels were damaged and they were concerned that a 30 foot wall of water could hit homes near the 0roville dam in california. 0vernight theyve been trying to reduce water levels caused by weeks of heavy rain. Dave lee reports. The 0roville dam has been unable to cope with historically high levels of rain. The Overflow Channel crumbled to pieces. For the First Time Since it was built, it was relying on an emergency Overflow Channel, but that was soon in trouble as well. Nearly 200,000 people were told to leave their homes immediately, sent to Evacuation Centres set up across the surrounding area. My neighbourhood was already basically empty. I panicked and started putting things in my car. Im a little bit scared. We are trying not to go near the area so we can go home but we will probably be stuck down here. For the first time in 25 years the National Guard has put in Place A State wide alert and soldiers are being sent into the area amidst worries from locals about looting. Last time we did this was the 1992 riots. We put out a notification not to report them but to be ready to go for all who are part of the californian National Guard. Efforts to plug the damaged by using helicopters were successful, the authorities said. By Sunday Night The Water Level had decreased enough that the emergency channel was no longer in use. More rainfall is expected until the end of the week. In pakistan, a bomb has exploded at a Protest Rally in the city of lahore, killing at least 13 people and injuring more than 80. The attack has been claimed by a breakaway taliban faction. Its reported that five police officers, including a former Counter Terrorism chief, were among those killed. 0ur Correspondent Secunder Kermani is following the story in islamabad. There was a large protest planned by many members of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Companies who are demonstrating against changes to Drug Regulations that particular place. Because of that demonstration there was also a large number of police and a large number of journalists who were present at the Regional Government assembly right in the heart of lahore which is pakistans second largest city. Because there was onlyjournalists there, a large number of tv channels we re there, a large number of tv channels were actually rolling as the explosion happened and we saw very dramatic pictures of what appeared to bea dramatic pictures of what appeared to be a Vehicle Bursting into flames and hundreds of people running for their lives in terror. We know that around 11 people had been killed, its poor majority of them, significant number of them were police a small majority. They seem police a small majority. They seem to have been the main target. Britains biggest supermarket, tesco, has promised to take immediate action after a bbc investigation revealed that two thirds of deals on the shelves were out of date and werent being deducted at the checkout. An Undercover Team visited 50 branches across england over a three month period. Tesco says its working to make sure its prices are accurate. Jonathan gibson reports. If we see a special offer on the supermarket shelves, we expect to pay that price at the till, but that doesnt always happen at tesco. The gingerbread, theyre on two for £3 but it hasnt come off, and the cat food, the deal was three for £8. And heres why. The labels are out of date. The bbcs inside out programme visited 50 tesco Stores Across england and found out of date special offers in 33 of them. At some stores, staff say its a recurring problem. Does that happen much then . And at another store, a worker blames the error on being short staffed. In most stores, workers removed the label straight away, but not everywhere. At this store, the cashier refunds the difference but doesnt remove the label, so its still on display when we go back in the next day, the next week. And one month later. The fourth cashier finally removes it. There are obviously major problems with their control of the special offers, and its the special offers that bring customers in, make people reach for more and perhaps spend a little bit more than they meant to when they came into the store. So that is very, very worrying. Throughout our investigation, tesco did refund the difference when informed about the discrepancies. The company wouldnt provide anyone for interview but after reviewing the bbcs evidence, said following our investigation, britains biggest supermarket has said it will be double checking the accuracy of every price in every store. Thats more than 3,500 Stores Across britain. But with some customers complaining its a sector wide problem, other big retailers could soon follow suit. Jonathan gibson, bbc news. The Co Operative Bank has been put up for sale. Three practical challenges, no longer Interest Rates which has constrained the earning ability, the scale of the Transformation Challenge we took on in 2013 being bigger than we expected and fixing conduct issues from the past as we have undertaken those across the la st have undertaken those across the last three or four years. Since its Near Death Experience in 2013 the co op bank has never really regained full financial help. A combination of superlow Interest Rates and the problems of the past admit there has been very difficult for banks both big and especially small to build up their cash reserves. The only options open to it after the current owners to put in more money or to put itself up for sale. The crop itself is a classic bank caught in the middle ground. It is not big enough to join the big the middle ground. It is not big enough tojoin the big boys the middle ground. It is not big enough to join the big boys and there are other banks in a similar position. Tsp, Virgin Money Spring to mind. If you put together the co op with a bag of that size, you could start to make the kind of cost savings that could make a viable business. Getting that fit right is important to co op customers. Whoever they sell two has got to have the same principles. You do worry a bit. They seem to have gone downhill. Are they going to cause more branches and Will Everything go online . For customers it is business as usual but the high street could lose a 150 year old name. In Salford Studio is shaun fensom a spokesperson for the save our bank group, a union of co op customers. Thank you forjoining us good to see you. Is there anything to stop these foreign investors, these hedge funds is, selling co op to an entity that has ethical considerations, not very high on its agenda . It wouldnt really make much sense for them to do so, because they are not going to get a very good price, because the bank is so much built upon its ethical reputation. It isnt quite unusual in world terms, it is a real ethical leaders still and it has been for some years. So that is the point of the co op, isnt it, the ethical background it has . Yes, also many of our supporters, but it is also important for them is the fact it has a co op tradition as well but traditionally it was owned by its customers or at least on the customers or at least on the customers of the co operative group and we would like to see it return to being more owned by its customers and we are calling on the bank to look to customers as a possible source of capital now they have made this announcement. But tens of millions of pounds are going to be neededin millions of pounds are going to be needed in order to find the kind of buffer the regulators believe deposits, they believe they should have, there Capital Reserves. Customers is one the number of sources that the bank could turn to the bank could turn to that would support its cooperative status. There are some very big Co Operative Banking institutions in europe and North America that i believe might be interested in helping us and there has certainly been indications to that in the past. Also if you look at a bank like for example the one in france, they raised three and a half billion euros from its customers, so i dont think it is such a silly proposition. Sure, who might be in the running . Shaun. I dont know. I imagine if the bank had already found a buyer it would have told us, so presumably it is looking at. We very much welcome the banks statement that it is going to look for alternative sources of capital and i think that the voice of united customers, 10,000 supporters of save our bank could be very important in the coming weeks, so very important in the coming weeks, so that it is why we werent very encouraging people to join us. Any suggestion that an organisation or another bank buys co op and wants to downgrade the ethical stance, you and others would walk, that is clear . I would think many thousands of customers would walk under those circumstances stop it is just not an option with the operative bank. If they did give indications that it was returning to some kind of cooperative heritage, i think it could be very useful for the co op group in banking and commercial terms. It makes total sense for them to do that. But they could find a partner that is prepared to go along with that then we will be happy. Fantastic. Good to see you. Sean brunson there. Shaun fensom. But one enthusiast found himself in all kinds of trouble at Worcester Cathedral on saturday after his foot got caught in the rope and he was flipped upside down. Our Midlands Correspondent sima kotecha has the story. 51 year old ian bowman was was visiting Worcester Cathedral with some fellow bell ringers but his trip on saturday was ruined by an accident. Mr bowman was ringing the bell here along with Somebody Else who was standing on this box. He was on tip toes to give himself more leverage, but this rope got tangled around his foot and he was pulled up into the air several feet, and was then dropped back down the same distance, hitting his head on the edge of this box here. These are dangerous, they are the biggest Musical Instruments in the world. We are very careful how we teach, so we teach people road safety, a bit like driving a car. Once you can do it you are safe but even driving a car sometimes accidents happen. He was ringing the heaviest bell in the tower. It weighs two and a half tonnes. Firemen had to winch him down 80 feet in whats called a Vacs Mattress which moulds itself to his body, keeping him still. On arrival, we recognised that, due to the nature of his injuries and the fact we wouldnt want to move him any more than we had to, the best method of rescue was to lower him down by line down through hatches in the cathedrals roof. All in all it took about an hour to rescue the gentleman concerned. That was because we took our time because of the condition of the patient. Mr bowman fractured a bone in his back but is still able to walk. Despite his misfortune, he seems positive and has said these things do sometimes happen in life. Sima kotecha, bbc news, worcester.
