Well, Russell Brand might have disappeared from more traditional Media Outlets over recent years and he is no longer in Hollywood Films but he has built a huge following across social media on the likes of instagram, twitter and youtube he has millions of followers. On youtube in particular, he has over 6 million subscribers. He post videos near daily and he has monetisation on them which means that youtube puts adverts from other companies before and after, sometimes in the middle as well of those videos, viewers will be familiar with them. He gets a cut of the revenue from those adverts. I contacted google yesterday which owns youtube to ask whether or not that was under review given the serious nature of the allegations. As you say, Russell Brand denies them but they are still serious allegations. They didnt respond yesterday but this morning they have come back with a statement saying, we have suspended monetisation on Russell Brands channel for violating our creator responsibility policy. If a creators Off Platform Behaviour harms our users, employees or ecosystem, we take action to protect the community. Now, i have checked Russell Brands youtube this morning and the account is still there but the monetisation adverts, they are no longer there. There is however what is called pay promotion. You might be familiar with youtube sometimes in the middle of their video, they themselves will stop, look at the camera and promote a product, website or service. Now, youtube is listing at the top of the video that there is pay promotion, that is still there. So potentially, Russell Brand still can derive money from those videos through whoever did that pay promotion. The venues that emerged in the last 24 the venues that emerged in the last 2a hours is from here at new scotland yard. The headquarters of the metropolitan police in london. They have not named Russell Brand but they have said a woman has come forward to make an allegation of Sexual Assault in 2003 and soho in Central London, before the period 20062013 of the Central London, before the period 2006 2013 of the revelations at the weekend but it comes after the met police put out a call of anyone with similar allegations to come forward. She is now being supported by specialist officers, Russell Brand denies the allegations, he was meant to be performing in a theatre in windsor but that date and the rest of his current tour have been postponed. He is likely to face an investigation from the metropolitan police who will want to speak to him. For more lets speak to lara 0reilly, Senior Correspondent for insider. In libya, there have been big protests against the government, a week after the collapse of two dams triggered catastrophic flooding in the countrys east. Hundreds of people took to the streets in the city of derna, to express their anger at officials, and to demand accountability. There are reports too, that the mayors house has been burned down by demonstrators. The extensive Recovery Process continues in the region. The United Nations has now revised its estimate of the number of confirmed deaths, to around 4,000, with at least 5,000 still missing. Heres our correspondent anna foster in Eastern Libya with more on the protests. These protests started in the Late Afternoon and in fact, the previous day, people in that area had told us that they were planning to gather together and make their anger against the Eastern Libyan authorities known because they blame them for poor maintenance of those two dams which burst when the torrential rain came more than a week ago now. They say that the authorities had been lax in maintaining those dams and keeping them safe and looked after, something, of course, which the authorities deny. When i spoke to the eastern Prime Minister a few days ago, he told me that it was nature and it was god and said that nothing could have withstood the force of the heavy rain that fell. But people here are angry at their leadership. And you could hear the sound of chanting and protest really filling the chasm that has been cut through the centre of derna. That valley of mud and dirt that now exists where it was cities and buildings, People Living their lives in this part of Eastern Libya. Later in the evening, we saw Pictures On Social Media which appeared to show the home of the mayor being set on fire. And it really shows you the grief, the anger, the tension, all of those things mixed together in a place that has known more than a decade of conflict. People here, the survivors, are living in an apocalyptic situation. The scenes that you see are just extraordinary. There is little electricity, little running water, the fear of disease and victims continually being washed up. More and more bodies being found all the time. And it shows you how incredibly difficult the situation here still is. Earlier, i spoke to our north africa correspondent, Bassam Bounenni who joined us from tunis, in neighbouring tunisia. These protests are one of the strongest movements in the east in years, calling on authorities for accountability. Of course, protesters know that there are little chances to get through accountability because of the rival governments. The Public Prosecution is based in tripoli. The situation is catastrophic and for the eastern authorities are overwhelmed. Politics or lets say, geopolitics, have been one of the points in rescue working as the eastern authorities have many countries hostile to it. And it is a matter of time for people in derna to look for more survivors, which is now very difficult, especially that libya has entered its rainy season. And there is. There are fears of more diseases outbreaks in derna. So they felt abandoned. They felt left alone to face this disaster alone. What impact will this situation have on the governance of libya as a whole . Because, like you say, there are two power blocs. There is a government in tripoli in the west. Theres a government in tobruk in the east. Has there been any interaction between the two with regards to responding to this situation . Very little. And its part of the problem, gareth. Survivors in derna and by larger in libya realise that both sides have failed in coming up with a unified response. We are talking about libyas largest disaster in history, in its history. So if they fail in coming up with a unified response, that means that there are little chances in seeing libya getting to a viable political settlement. So the situation is really distressing by all means, humanitarian means, by political means and byjustice means, as protesters are calling on authorities for accountability. And bassem, just briefly, youre based in algeria, and im cognisant of the fact that on its borders theres a lot going on, the earthquake in morocco, the floods in libya. How is algeria responding to whats happening to its neighbours . Actually, im based in tunisia, gareth, but lets say that the whole region is going through unprecedented Climate Change impact. We have the earthquake and its aftermath with fears of rain in morocco. We have fresh wildfires in algeria, an unprecedented heat wave here in tunisia. And the storm, Daniel Storm In libya. Lets say we are in a region that is the least integrated economically in the world, and its obvious that there are no hope for coordination between these countries, for humanitarian response while it is heavily and significantly impacted by Climate Change, gareth. Around the world and across the uk. This is bbc news. Lets look at some other stories making news. The Department For Transport has awarded the Train Operator Avanti West Coast a long Term Contract to run services on the west coast mainline. The company had previously been given two six month contracts and ordered to develop a plan to address poor performance. The Transport Secretary said avanti was back on track. The metropolitan police says more than 1,000 officers are currently suspended or on restricted duties as the force attempts to tackle the issue of rogue officers. The met s Deputy Assistant commissioner said removing all corrupt officers could take years. Figures show a total of 100 officers have been sacked for Gross Misconduct in the last year. Consultants and Junior Doctors in england are set to stage their firstjoint strike in the history of the nhs. Consultants begin a two day strike at 7am and Junior Doctors willjoin them wednesday morning. 0ur Health Correspondent Dominic Hughes has this report. 13 year old phoebe is waiting for an operation on the tumour on her face. Twice its been cancelled because of industrial action by doctors. Last week it was due to go ahead again, but this time there was no bed available. The delays are taking their toll. Im not going to say its selfish cos i understand with the cost of living crisis, its very hard at the moment especially for some people who maybe arent getting paid as much as they should, especially for what they do. And i respect them, i really do, but for patients like me, its really draining to keep having it, like, postponed, and really mentally damaging because you dont know whats going to be youre getting so much anxiety from when its next going to be. Todays action by Consultant Doctors in england will be their third walk out. The previous consultant strike days which occurred last month saw nearly 46,000 appointments cancelled or delayed, with around 6,000 staff off each day. Overall, the nhs in england has seen ten months of industrial action, during which more than 885,000 inpatient and outpatient appointments have been rescheduled. But for doctors like richard clarkson, these strikes are notjust about pay, but the future of the health service. You know, we have got to use this moment to really get the message across that we are haemorrhaging talent overseas. We are in a situation where the brightest and the best in schools arent going to go into medicine, theyre not going to want to become medical consultants theyre probably going to want to become Financial Consultants or management consultants. We want the brightest and best to be treating our families in the nhs for years to come. No ifs, no buts, no Junior Doctor cuts. Tomorrow, the consultants will be joined by their Junior Doctor colleagues. Nhs bosses predict almost all planned care will be affected. The government has announced its looking at introducing minimum Service Levels in hospitals during Strike Action defining the number of doctors, nurses and other front line staff needed to cover urgent emergency and Time Critical services. Meanwhile, phoebe is facing an anxious wait to see if her latest operation planned for thursday will finally go ahead. Dominic hughes, bbc news. What Strike Action planned in october and at the time of the Tory Party Conference where thousands of doctors potentially could turn up at a protest. Potentially could turn up at a rotest. . ~ potentially could turn up at a rotest. 1,. ~. , potentially could turn up at a rotest. 1,. ~. , i. ,. , a Ship Carrying Grain has left the Ukrainian Port Of Chornomorsk for the First Time Since a deal with russia collapsed. Grain from both countries is crucial to Food Supplies in africa and asia, and the deal helped slow the rising price of food globally. The resumption of shipping is a test of kyiv s ability to keep its supply lanes open whilst russia tries to blocade the country and targets Port Infrastructure. James waterhouse has more from kyiv. Important to make clear, this is not the grain deal of old an agreement involving russia and ukraine which allowed the country to export two thirds of what it once did, more than 30 Million Tonnes of grain. This is the second time a vessel has attempted a route through the black sea which was declared by ukraine and ukraine alone. It has no means of policing or enforcing this route because of russias naval dominance in this area, and crucially it doesnt have any agreement from moscow at this stage. The kremlin has been long frustrated with its own inability to export its own Agricultural Products because of existing sanctions. Nevertheless, last week we saw the first two vessels make their way into chornomorsk and 0desa on the south west of ukraine, along this route which kyiv declared. And now we are seeing the first grain ship leave. There was a cargo vessel last month that had been trapped on the coast which made its way along this route as well. That was intercepted by russian forces, where they boarded it, russian soldiers boarded it on a helicopter and carried out an inspection. So, its clear that ukraine is willing to take the risks, to try and export grain in any way possible. But its notjust kyiv that is willing to take the risks, its the Insurance Companies and its the shipping firms themselves. But its important to reiterate that we are only talking about two ships in two months. The river danube is seen as the only real other alternative to get grain out over water, and russia is continuing to target, to hit Port Infrastructure with Missile Strikes. So, with all of this going on, its clear that ukraine is looking to persist, and possibly with the increased pressure we have seen the russian navy come under, with longer range Missile Strikes on occupied crimea and vessels being directly targeted, perhaps that is also changing the dynamics here. But it is still early days, but its clear ukraine wants to make a statement. Uk Opposition Leader keir starmer will meet french president Emmanuel Macron today, a chance for both men to strike a political relationship with labour confident in taking overfrom britains ruling conservatives. The closed door talks in paris are part of a Mini International tour for starmer, who visited europol in the hague last week and appeared alongside canadasjustin trudeau and former british Prime Minister tony blair at a Weekend Gathering in montreal. Any british french meeting is likely to include discussion of migration. Starmer last week signalled he would like britain to join an eu quota system for sharing out migrants. His problem is that many un countries havent taken sides and just want the war to end because its hurting their economies. They also, like these protesters, want the un to focus more on the climate crisis, and notjust the fighting in europe.
