The indian regulator has demanded an urgent intervention, asking for a timeline of the defective engines in the next two months and if these can be detected at an early stage and not while in flight. The engine maker said over 600 engines used in airbus aircraft have to be recalled globally in the next three years. A Material Defect found is reducing the life of certain engine parts like blaze. Engine parts like blades. 200 engines have already been recalled. Indigo is the largest customer of a320 planes and 11 of its engines have been impacted. Now removed from service. Indigo got the nod from the regulator to lease 11 planes in order to replace these. But that is just adding to engine snags already troubling airlines globally. In india, nearly a quarter of the Aviation Fleet is grounded due to these engine issues. Almost 50 aircraft of indigo, nearly a score of air india, india, indian go air which is now entirely grounded and has filed for bankruptcy has squarely blamed the engine maker for its collapse.
