Radio Suffolk. A. Few. As k.c. And the Sunshine Band and give it up we all want to technicalities also the program but fortunately tied the bits of string together and so far fingers crossed live with you from Oprah carnival absolutely even here on the sea front in the blue skies fluffy white lies the skies were Kylie when I 1st arrived but I magically sort of cleared just in time for the r.a.f. Full conspires tame things well underway this often in the programs we've had swimming rices we've had the life but I see without the are a full comes the soft and in from about 2 o'clock on was the convo parade will be gathering loads of flights taking part in the the queen this year's Connell queen will be crimes I gather just after 3 o'clock we're sort of slightly alter especially so that we can catch a word with them and be there for the process of a 40 Posco interval queens are here for the 75th overcome loads ahead of us the soft and hopefully I'll just better reflect and bring in a bit of the excitement as it happens one person is working hard behind the scenes and in fact has been for the whole of the weekend he's. With Proctor thanks for being with me Hi Leslie No problem it's only been a busy week I absolutely and just wonderful that the subs cover in the last half an hour is the really and exhibit drizzly mislead 1st rate welcome it was but we have the fair weather Rocket said that's going off I have passed a every car on of over the last 75 years and I can't remember a wet one I told by the time you through some of the events that have happened over the weekend if you remember there's been lots of music yes I've been music I'm Saturday afternoon so me live music in all the pubs around town and then there was a reception here on the green for past Queen's and other dignitaries on Saturday evening yesterday morning we had the mini marathon which vary from the numbers of people I saw what must have been a record attendance we've had the children's Rice says and today is the big one really I think it's going to be a fantastic procession they sacked in. And so and they find find all you drive in a surround about 101030 this morning and already most of the people were here I mean there are kinds that say you cannot call anywhere in over and you really have to plan this day said I think most people if you're coming here on holiday they book the previous year for the next year's accommodation and the caravans I walked absolutely passing the whole time and you have to really have to know someone to. Spill to things it's cry and you know there are so many local people involved you know it's lovely it's a proper tradition of you know a traditional day for the community right and 75th and I know because we're talking to Keith a Last week I mean you've really pulled out the stops to stand really gone beyond what you have to date you know I think you know these these traditions are so important and if we didn't marketing some special way and trippy really needs to get stewed in the rest of the carnival committee who just worked tirelessly all year round to bring us such a fantastic 3 day event for the time it's quite so just time it's very slow trickle Kish is the is the Crimea I'm 3 o'clock we will go down and greet the carnival queen so from the new hole steps and then we will perspex up status that we very speeches I do a proclamation. And then we crown the carnival queen and then the procession will head off so I should be in the High Street backwards past 3 I would have thought that we would be quite a long go on they share I think will probably go on for a wire I mean if you've got friends you know well mauled certainly on Saturday morning I had about 20 and that was a large scale flows besides here for pedestrians and children so I think that was the record entry that I'd had a lot more last minute things as well I know there's an extra big. Trial full for all the economy. And it's right yes so 75 and I think we've got 40 carnival post carnival Queens in attendance and I know number of them a change in the main hall of the my humans. So I think I'm on microphone might reach that far by sneaking into my site somewhere and have a chat when I say what I want to call that finery I know you know that God drags on and really celebrate the day but to have. 75. American ones in Australia so it's no wonder I couldn't but yes I know what I think is really really bad thank you for coming up a little and I mean that the weather is perfect isn't going to better your afternoon is wow thanks to Kate we have prime position here I can have a look at the queen and everything is all right have a brilliant time it's the 75th all but con of all amazing Oprah is the theme which is absolutely perfect and there's a slight heaving already just looking across to my left you've got some talk John Ambulance we're going to talk to them a little bit later on because you can't run events like this without the help of lots and lots of people there are loads of fall into is I've seen lots of people with a t. Shirt so they call novel a common volunteers some John Ambulance her head police loads of police and when I 1st arrived they were checking all the streets I was searching I see it's time I've got lots of the stewards hit doing a lot of the stupid thing as well so it really is a big team and bring you a flavor of the event through this often in trouble news on the way as have been music to take is that from simply read this is Dollhouse. To the bees explained. Simply read and. B.b.c. Right travel news on the way in just a minute a tape I know with you and I have just passed the b.b.c. Right. Well right next to me told Well if you were listening to the afternoon show you will know several of us with us Tom got on a one minute Christmas and proposed to have a couple of years ago but. Jacket potatoes fish and chips you got the upper comical stand you got some fudge going to start over but not know it had a cheeseburger already and you for this mean ice cream which I'm very much looking forward to as they would have bought one of your and he did the most I know it that looking through there you can actually see the lovely calm sea on the shingle beach as well so I don't even hear everyone I mean absolutely but it really is for this the 75th carnival guy and Keith but he's been looking after us one to flay you going to sleep well tonight Kate I just I shall need no rocking at all. So your Pressman for the carnival 7 we spent the last week 75th town of a bigger and better than before I think Yes Well we've been delighted with the way it's turned out we've had is repugnant but weather is perfect before things did us proud with us when did drop onto the beach and La now will set for a grand parade this often and with more flights and you can shake a stick out growing chunks and this is really traditionalism a is right because you've got the lifeboat ship which everybody loves to say if you say the Irish You just got conned of all Queens I mean it really is traditional and a 1st class military band which all rose prided itself on for almost all those $75.00 yes so. Well leaning forward ready for a kickoff and fronting the new color green Not to mention the 44 callable cranes who will be supporting us just so I know you're really pleased because you were determined to get some of the cobbled grades by 44 must be more than you ever anticipated Yes yes were. We told we get a 1020 perhaps before you know for. Exceeded all our expectations but they were so keen and as a say a couple serving in the living or in Australia and America was so disappointed that it was a bit too far to go. So we're hoping as I made a very kindly because we have the News at 3 o'clock just edged forward the Crimea of the carnival. Technicals a lot of everything that proclamation and all of that as it gets under way later this often a within 3 to 4 the procession getting underway at 3 o'clock all over all the dress shops have been the judge this morning lots going as we speak and we're going to hear about some of the stills that are here in a minute or 2 as well but let me bring you up to date with the travel news across the county and the latest word Barry. Thanks so much Leslie get out of. This building up southbound as you head towards the main road the I 1214 there was a key with the cult changed northbound heading towards a junction 33 on the a 12 from. Village turn off outside that queue. Around apes which are just hearing from the place there's an accident causing some slow traffic on hand foot road Principi drive and West End Road is partially blocking the right there just waiting further updates on that frustrating balanced looking quite busy on the speed sensors this afternoon at 134 just from Ingham heading down towards Bury St Edmunds looks a little bit slow for the time of day no major delays as far as the trains are concerned across the county I'm sorry Lou it's for b.b.c. Radio Subba travel if you see something me call or 147-321-2121. Is such a huge county and it's important for me to cover it all but there's no chance I could do it on my own that's where. The. Very slim is to my. The wonderful beers at the cathedral goodness me where else would you want to stop this amazing challenge and the next point and I want your favorite places in the county. From 1st thing feel to Felixstowe Lowestoft to like an AC together we got the can see coverage not enough the Am breaks a weekday mornings from 7 b.b.c. Radio Suffolk. B.b.c. Radio something. That is empty of it all brick on of all glorious sunshine broadcasting live from the sea front here and right next to them and all and if you happen one if you hear you probably caught him in silence but if you all walking that a little bit later come and say hello loads of different people here it's not just food there are lots of other of the stalls and so on and when we're on Friday we were focused and we upped into one of the members of the list and a long shot we had a step aboard did we not my on the on to the fantastic theme and dream and that was lovely Was it we watched being filled up without water and it bubbled away in produce and you have the heat on the whistle as well we did get hit with the fog team a warrior fire rescue that actually fell out the the engine and so on this is did you hear 1st thing it was drizzly misery but look sunshine I've got the you turned up in the sun came out last night so what you've done. You smoothy you use me the night Philip to spread breeze with us along with a member of the trustees Allen quality his from a long shot museum and as I strolled along the public all strolled along in the sometime this morning a lot of the stands and I thought oh well it's the long stop a busy here again so late for the path so you know you are where you are you want to go I would like if I cased neighbor one of the volunteers Chloe is here today and he says I already took him to Leslie. She is very sick of being right now you are doing very well see only spreading the word we we want to we want to get to as many events as possible at the moment because we've got a lot going on with our transformation project say we really need to see me as many people as possible and this is a we've spoken to lots of other people which is a lottery funded projects and I know that you're hoping the one of those at the moment on yeah that. Basically we currently going for her she's luxury project we're going for the Round Table past moment so we're very very busy at the moment lots of deadlines let us pay for it's a guy and so you make sure that we're doing everything correctly and not know that one of the things that you really came to do is to his stories from people who have what Yeah so part of it we are going to be hosting it Garrett gathering on Wednesday the 6th of September at 2 pm until 6 pm the point of this is basically at the moment we have a lot of objects a lot of artifacts and you go in there and there is a list stuff I mean it's great stuff but it just goes up and up and often oh look at this isn't this great but it doesn't tell the stories of the people here with that and we want to hear from people we want to hear the good things you know we want to hear the bad things we want to hit how it ended we want to hear it all from people who were there in their own words and we want to be incorporating this into the exhibit you know in the new interpretation when we come along you know when it comes to that we want people who work there to understandably be a part of it so I was so went to the account was closed so I closed in 1980 and it basically go. Towards the end of I think there are about 600 people working there at the time but you know there were a lot of apprentices this whoa so they were painful he'd just come up he was finishing their time and then it was like No you've got so you know you know we want to hear from these we want to know what happened next there's a there's. You know years about forward years now it's this guy can we know what happened see because this is important this is a part of the town's history this isn't something that happens while the repos that are around who can tell some of those stories so this is a lovely poster and this is yes this is. The long shot but somewhat so sorry this is actually on the footprint of the original site so you the museum itself is only a small potion of what was actually Saif so we saved a long shot and we saved a couple of buildings around it so where the doctors is on the corner was the training school and this place that I've put in many pubs around ground wasted in the area and is basically taken inside there so you can see the supervisor is in there dark. They're they're all got that sort of the the original like they love the brand because you're talking Yeah so the one on the left hand side in the picture is one of our trustees Tony so a lot of the people who were involved with Garrett are still around and tiny Kapor is one of our trustees and they're We do have other trustees who. Say this picture a lot of people said oh I know him or we know that person but it would be good to get the stories you know to find out what happened next if you know if you have a look at the the web sites I have a look at long online and you can see more give them a ring as well I 17288321 not I'll hang on to those details and the meeting itself to tell 6 It's Wednesday the 6 the September so they want to get Garrett gathering any stories that you have if you know someone who maybe you were. Then I would love to hear from you and you mention trustees that and with us we have already and I when you when the trustees Yes I am yes I did how did you get involved Oh well one of the other trustees are a child in law got roped in do you live in the in there I live just outside of life in a place called Christian and the maze is an amazing history isn't this this I mean I know. And as we heard there it's it was a huge part of lace that yes and in fact it was established about $1785.00 but the it really impetus came the 2nd half will be just about the 2nd half of the 19th century when Richard Garrett the 3rd. Was Mr Cole when they were at the Great is a bishop salute Yes that's the story and of course strong I told him all about production lines in America so he came in his purpose built buildings for production that was one of the shop is one of the 1st in in the in Europe so not long after the 1st one in the world yes it was a very historic building there is a few huge importance not just in Suffolk but in the industrial history world and I get clutching leaflets to tell me about a couple of things you want to mention Well 1st of all there is our museum and we have a number of events obviously going for a transformer project we're looking to raise funds as well so we have a vents on the 22nd of October when we have our final fling and that's preceded by a 2 day Beer Festival at the site you know to get people involved Baron Stayman your mom away on a solo play but we also have a nother big event on a neighboring farm down. Hill Farm on Sunday the 24th of September Well we'll be using the steam engines to run the threshing machines and basically our harvest past will be fantastic so pick up farm favorites and harvest past say go along where 24th of September I'm sure will tell you about that again 113430 there is less happening in the museum anyway and some are in the museum but also that final fling have a look at the website find out a bit about their project how they have ever had a lot of people coming along so far yes we've had people come in past in very early this afternoon about 1 o'clock read Jake a steam engine will be showing up. And she got a different whistle so we'll have to go have a look at this time as well thanks for both of you for coming along have had a great off today and so you see there is something much to say not just food it's not just. A comical procession about me a little bit later on they have 3 fish and chips inside me across from me you've got that mail in where makes them whole market cross place where all the pubs sit a roaring right got a little bit further on as well so through the soft and bring you the full flavor of the carnival here in all pressure a bit more music someone's got a better play today is Kenny Roman just he is 79 and here he is along with Dolly Parton islands in the stream. Anyway I just I'm bottoms in the stream and happy birthday to Ken He wrote just 79 today show he's listening of course hiding on the marble is mighty thank you lovely isn't it sad what a great day to be at the seaside but when along with everybody else yet buzzing isn't here people around I'm looking forward to it with a flight which I take to the rides like your own legs and eyes I make June as a going to be there for that Gonna Come along I haven't wed with us as well but we mentioned 75th and extra specially this year Paul cleans $45.00 of them and we're joined by 2 of them not we've got June June freemen who was I don't give away right now I have no idea how old you all sides 950 to have got that right 5952 and we've also got Jennifer Kemp as well as I think in 1965 that's correct God times it does it not can you remember what it was like you have beautiful boarding. People in your life I mean this amazing really and you live in Alberta Yes So you come back every Yeah and it's about the committee. Yeah but all the committee says bonus just after I was called of the Quaid can it can you remember going in and going in for the carnival crane at the time any time for it happens I judge that committee he likes the count of so they choose you. And remember to smile when they came in else. Yes you get treated like royalty Yes yes I think a lot better in those days really often restrict are along the front. And I said also on the wall because you had all this controversy with the panda not come in time and I had to stop it because the security being lovely didn't care much nicer when I went along the seafront Well the small part of the must be more people and I than the way I really think Live at school I had never done along the front my With guy I was in so many people then you say you just get Baker a For Yeah so tell me about when you reach alst as well how did he fail my father come out here and just sit in chairs this common folk way now off with a that was an honor really on a hand that was slightly. Off and that was a really lucky guy I sorry enjoyed it from start to finish very good it really treated properly are you yes you did did you get dressed what but you dress what did they choose that did you choose are you choose your I would I had somebody might know him. Sir what about your entourage of the Princesses and how does that but. My hat fool was not your choice No I chose them you John Kerry choice stranger in fact and days you didn't have I think I'd choose them it's about who I was a 10 minutes for that I'm clean used to choose but neither the committee oh you know run away never charged some shit way you know they will be chosen for us sir Southern us and the people who come to be good representatives good ambassadors for yes yes yeah yeah what did what did you and it's a year long thing or just with all the we can. See here we are from year to year but I mean we don't care so much fairness what right you tyrant think Sure in theory at the end of August they used to have the scouts fight news to get their own love scotch failed and then Christmas Day I used to go round to the coach hospital the same guy. That did it did it my it popular with the boys I got engaged on that day as well tell me more all. The While the alley you came from from your. City to get down on one knee on the day. Not really here now. But also big day for you last night have you had a chance to meet up with any of the other policy yes we will be up with them on Saturday in the Mary told us lovely about those gossiping Oh yes I was out creating ice Well some memories yeah yeah get together and this one compost Kumble Queen need both like to get hold get in touch with. Known as I can I know we'd like to get in touch with one from 950 Jen constant. Constant but she didn't come to the last 3 you knew so. We don't know I mean she's poorly maybe not lied or anything because and there is a there's as well here a bit later on because there's all kind of film you have to meet you along because this. Is film see as being going around the coast in the summer heritage footage of all bra and of the Oprah carnival of $950.00 ceiling at the end of a letter on the stand lovely So have you got a regal wife because you're going to be on your flight a bit later on in my eyes close an eye on what you can write well you know a. Little Polaroid through I want to go where are you looking lovely in orange because I say can you wife probably going to do the most of the Regal very good practice for me as well then Jennifer Yes. I got the Regal wave as well that it will have a lovely afternoon and I thank you so much for having it. There again just to have the. Queen's colorful queen's that I'm going to be taking part in that convo procession a little bit later this afternoon it's the 75th over Kabul 45 football screens are going to be here in a float why even will be to wave at them as well as they head off some of the time fast approaching a call to travel news for you and you should have a bit more music this is Johnny national on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk So it's a lie from all. And I can see clearly not. Was . I think. A strong mask and I Can See Clearly Now I think I was a bit previous with the tomahawk it doesn't want to work on my watch says it's a but 18 minutes to 2 but I'm tight as a set in stone a few buses do any set match and that might get it in time right set of a well live on the sea front and as you can hear in the background slowly people are gathering across the way we're on the market cross place with the mentor which is where the Vix go and all the beans and this is where the carnival queen is cry and later on we can look up the hill to the vehicles coming into time we've got lots of people standing clutching a little a little beverage or 2 in their hands a little bit further up we've got another pub there and I gather just hearing the they are a full consent being ushered in for lunch and the whole dining room stood up and applauded but they deserved it and that was a good despite they put on an earlier round which he got a live comment treated him as he can do it justice look at it glorious the red white and blue of the canopies on their parachutes the red blue smoke already on the parachutes as well and then the blue sky behind it did look at that we couldn't do it we couldn't land on an x. On the ground get away I don't speak for itself I'm sure I popped the code might be not all that and that is certainly not getting it still like this years and that Ok . Does all sorts right so not only is it the 75th carnival but we have here a short history of carnival it's been written by Judy gallon and Judy is the and the small and I Judy hello. So you got the beginning to give me a potted history that of the carnival gorge on your boat back Well the 1st count of all was 927 and it was Paul to the then all bird recapturing carnival Unfortunately the regatta part is minimized now just the swimming races which were the smaller the Smalling and lovely conditions because it's a lovely day here in Oprah. And. So yes apart from one or 2 breaks because of royal celebrations and obviously the 2nd World War The Carnival has been going ever since and I enjoyed it as a child because I lived locally and then I came to work over a bar a council as it's called then in 1967 and I was told the previous week that I would be working in the Moot Hall and I said What will I be doing I'm only a teenager and that's what every all told Oh right. And so that was 50 years ago and subsequently I joined a committee and subsequently I came secretary and here I am a secretary of overcome when you when you look at this term it has such a huge tradition and people still going out by the hundreds probably as well yes well we try to we're very strong on keeping the tradition and keeping the atmosphere of the earth and we try to take a very. Sensible attitude to health and safety but obviously we we have to take into account and we try to do that without destroying the atmosphere and we try to make it a chilly day for always groups. Tell me about this because you've got a British Empire Medal that many things I noticed to the Gambia I did I was very fortunate to be nominated for. A medal in 2017 you know trying to curry member the date and you know I think you know if you're and I'm very grateful to those who put my name forwards it was a wonderful experience and I regard the ward of the medal through award for the whole comfort committee really because although I'm not a lady Martin I couldn't do it without everybody that helps and it relies solely on hundreds of volunteers you've got no idea how many people come forward to give their time freely and you can just I mean just looking for bear son John Ambulance they're always volunteers are tired of a lot of people here have by doing some of it and they got lots of people in their black t. Shirts are part of your all your Carnival committees and so on but we have lots of people there selling door to get says selling programs we've got the. Training called Manning car parks the rugby club or Manning car parks and there's a lot of on the scene effort that goes into organizing events like this and we couldn't do it without people putting their hands up to help just have a quick flick through a little book I love this photo Vernon strived as being met June this was 2007 yes Word 2007 was a big anniversary for us and we decided that we would partially reenact the 1st over count of all which commenced with the ceremony of crossing the line which must have been absolutely hilarious We do have photographs of it and King Neptune came ashore in. With a long beard and flowing robes a sea weed and stuff and it's quite interesting because his daughter is still alive and she reported actually when he got out of the boat. All of this gob core around his ankles and it could have been gone a serious accident so the carnival may have been dead in the water before it even started talking to Tom. Yes So when Fern and was king we did that without the crossing the line Sherry because we didn't really want to get out to sea and do all of that. But of course his daughter is our carnival queen this year we're just going on like a little the survivor this year so it's stays in the family as yes and his wife has also been a council queen and she'll be an operator for the consequences afternoon it's going to be splendid and they've had to get makes for a long trailer for the morning yes with some challenging vehicles coming this year but I'm sure it will go well and as long as people keep behind the barriers on the coolness we'll be fine well I hope because really very well if you get to sleep tonight. Probably sleep tonight on Thursday. But it's brilliant and can people get a hold of your book yes I certainly can it's available on the information desk and it's only 5 pounds and it's well worth the money say ah it's a social history of opera Carnival and that's been compiled by Judy gallant b.m. Judy thank you very much indeed for coming along and having a word and oh thank you I'm allowed to keep the Paschal prism thank you very much indeed so as I look more and more people slowly gathering on the street still you know about an hour and a half to go as well I know it's a lovely atmosphere How's it just mention this lovely archive photos on the over all brick on of a website of all the previous beauty of the previous Queens and also the the king that we just heard about King that Gerry met yet chain yeah to his place to see on the website is worth a look at just a little bit of history which is lovely right i k it's a round about what time do you make it rough labor a few looking at my well 9 mm an 11 minutes turn to go 10 to exactly means it must be time for the latest time when his her battery. Radio Suffolk fast approaching the news at 2 o'clock couple more as ahead of us a soft and a new live from all Brits carnival day and I'm confronted by 3 very small young ladies of the holly Georgia and Chloe that just possibly know what June is contingent 1st time I gather for about 7 years at the cottage in his of time pots in the obra Carnival so if I go right yes I mean more tell me what you going to be doing and say where during a seaside based on the 75th anniversary of the old economy so quite excited at the seaside say it can be better it's a sort of naval outfit describe your outfit for me Georgia and we've got a nice red lips had on a nice sailor's hat and the sailors outfits and the little ones are all in sales outfits as well and have you done lots and lots of rehearsing when people always well actually no we haven't we have we done one long free our hassle yesterday and so we should all know what we do when it's quite strenuous but it's going to be good site walking along the Long the middle of the road say we're going to be good we're going to be basically have got a float is that right oh yes we got a massive lorry you won't miss us what's on the lorry and we've got about 20 children know covered in seagulls and boats and everything is good we got them on the menu up behind Yes Yeah we're dancing behind trying to get the energy out so we're really excited to be done having done a upright like this before and we used to do them before and we sort of m. Provides behind doing like our thing our coaching a thing but we're lucky that we cover and I can't dance routine mission so really excited look splendid. We found us the other going to be a bit weary by then probably when we come back we're going to out and then we're coming back so by the end hopefully will be remembering the dark news a lot more better we can clean them up I'm sure I'm sure will be a fantastic what will give you miles out of timing of exactly Yeah give us marks out and give us a chair as well. I'm sure the bosses will give you ice cream soft was real does a yeah hype Allen is does give us a voice like your photos as I say it's like in the face and then hopefully get some ice creams after. You've got the show's coming up yes we've got Christmas in December so like I say I start on the 1st December to the 10th and it's based about the theme of Alice Alice one Wizard of Oz so afraid with the wicked rich man's crisis that we really get as bad as everyone's in that are you all in the chorus or in here we got. Every don't know yet auditions will be soon be on the I hope so we've done in the polls and we've done everything all the musicals I think we've just recently done Sister Act Admittedly the Christmas show say good luck we'll be watching out for you so we were led to miss you caught Judy as part of this huge perception a little bit lighter on the softer and that's coming along like you got another 2 hours of the show to go the carnival procession itself kicks off at 3 o'clock was a truck driver that uses on the way. The unfree to Channel 7. Is b.b.c. Radio something. You see right here is up against 2 o'clock at the news desk his pipe and good afternoon officials in the Spanish region of Catalonia say they believe the death of a man in a carjacking was the work of the attacker who driven a van into crowds in Barcelona last week killing 13 people Police believe the assailant drove into people on a bit about in the city before he escaped on foot he then killed a motorist and made off in his car officials say he's dangerous and could be armed . Speaking at a news conference in Barcelona Catalonia as regional interior minister phone funny confirmed the identity of the man driving the van in the last Ramblers attack yeah maybe. The next you're in a lot of them unless we have identified the perpetrator of the incident Alice Lambert So the investigation carried out by Catalan police and the various lines of inquiry can confirm the perpetrator of the attack is you know. Who is 22 years old he was the perpetrator. Of Suffolk Wildlife Trust appealed to create a new reserve near Los doffed has raised more than 700000 pounds of its 1000000 pound target. Funny Big Ben has fallen silent in Westminster potentially for most of the next 4 years while renovation work is carried out is the longest period of time the chimes have been out of action since the great bell was 1st rung in 859 the conservative m.p. Peter Bone believes it's too long I thought it was a silly season story I didn't believe that you cannot have urgent repairs that take 4 years it just doesn't make any sense what I think will happen is the commission the authorities will look at this in September insight we need to find a different solution and maybe the dam will be songs for a little while but perhaps just until the end of this year and then back going away from the New Year so whether cloudy but dry from the afternoon temperatures 20 degrees Celsius 68 Fahrenheit that's b.b.c. Radio 7 News at 3 minutes past. The age old saying The b.b.c. Radio Suffolk. And I can agree with plaid The weather is absolutely lovely temperature absolute perfect blue sky right above us in our brain is the over carnival it's procession by all sorts of vents all weekend and the place as always is absolutely heaving people starting to line the streets ready for the procession which gets under way in an hour's time and we confront ization So hopefully going to be there when the comical queen is cry and I will still be a bit of a flavor of overflights that had passed in the south hoping to talk to someone from they are f o comes to You Tube that flew in all like time in the parachute jumps at half past 12 absolutely magnificently Roger Wright is that with us chief executive a slight malting this is the problems at the moment in the Friday night event was to do with all of us that that area and Oprah on from as well we'll pop along to look tired we're going to catch up and find out about some sun the mom on the beach loads and loads on the way in the salsa Stay with us she mislead also in b.b.c. Radio Suffolk. His plain crazy little thing called. Called. Cool though. Right. And there is a little thing called love. Into this and I have to say with. Live from. And earlier on that when I was. Telling him about the program happens time that perfectly to when they. Did that parachute display coming in landing on the beach and looking at some if fantastic because the skies a clear blue skies and looking out you can see the red white and blue of the Irish . R f written across them as well and then the smoke from that base and I think. The drops I'm exactly on every time I couldn't say so I don't know if they're telling lies with us we have corporate Dominic called she was just offering to take his shirt off for me coming to my bride. Flight left at a new job. So you. Turned up couple of hours before. The winds are doing in every 500 feet up to 5000 feet and so the coach we work out the running number lace where the girls are going to jump off and I just sort of I . Only middle of the drops are on the button. But it's much more exciting having the same. I think the view I mean we all do and you don't get to take a low end because there's a lot going to your mind trying to stay above the person below you make sure the gaps are correct when we do our smoke poles making sure the drills and procedures are correct in trying to keep the whole thing safe is post. Really but they get a chance to glimpse and see the sea and see where London is a massive reception when we come in movie could hear at 4000 feet so it's ideal for us if you hear you as you come down yeah I can definitely hear any makes a difference to us move out a couple displays were a little bit more quiet and you come in but today I think today's been the best reception we've had in a long time really and we were standing just on the corner then a new piece of swell right around the time right over our heads and look at what the police guy is fantastic yeah just driving up from Prize norm this morning and it didn't stop raining until I was about an hour outside to say blue sky with just a few clouds Yeah it was great so it makes all the diff take me through from from the when you're in there in the craft when you leaping out and tightly through that is only 23 minutes isn't it yes oh well we get instructions from the drops and safety officer who is the death today he will relay all the winds up to us and then we have a spot on board with a picture of where we're going to land then we right all them when this down where we're going to get released from the aircraft so then the coach can make a picture in his head what he needs to pass a little bit different over see because not many points to sort of reference from but we can sort of work out everything from there then we get a 2 minute we do a dummy run we just checked that everything's fine there's no cloud in the way there craft flies or flies over weeks or pretend we're going to go out and want to find we come back around and do a live run then so when we got 30 seconds out there's 3 of the lads which will get out hang on the edge of the aircraft on the side of the aircraft and that one is that you know it's not me I'm on the inside a minute but eventually I will get the outside but yeah once we're all set up the cultural and shout smokes we'll pop a smokes he says Ready set go and we all exit within under a 2nd of each other pull it depends what height we get today we had 4000 feet so we had about 5 seconds free fall before opening shoots and Ennis trying to get a collect as quick as possible so if you sort of look as if you're above it when you are having Yeah so we what we do we perform a stack a loop stack so we're all directly on top of each other with Iran. About 12 feet between us right sometimes a little bit less but then we take control take instruction from the coach on a communication so he will tell us when we said and left when he said and right when to pull in the next smoke and then he's pretty much the rector's all the way down so we're following him the whole way down but I follow my lead of them follow my lead as I say he is the coach we follow him and I trust him so it's good and the kind of his really maneuverable yeah completely it's all still canopy so we have to steer and tells us which of the steers the canopy we also valve arises so I can sort of change the canopy dive or the up to the canopy so I can come down closer to someone who is below me or I can use a real arises which will give me a little bit more left a little bit more drive forward as well but you have to use your body position quite a lot as well with the drag of the air of the wind as we go into it so if I want to slow myself down have to make myself nice and big I want to catch up I have to kill up into a ball and try to make myself all these little things make a massive difference which you can sort of expect really but yeah it's good fun and I guess as you get more experienced all of those things come 2nd nature yeah completely the same as any skill that you learn from the start when you 1st start doing everything's a 1000000 miles an hour or so of the rabbit in headlights but the way we do our training we go out to California to make sure that the weather is always consistent so we can always jump each day and if we start off from doing 2 months stacks to then 3 or 4 then building up that 9 month stack what you seen today so it's a safe progression up and then by time we get to our display season is a safe and we all know exactly what we do and I gather you've done quite a few this year quite a few Yeah we don't quite think when they on 30 so far this year and then we've got another 5 this week so it's a busy time we've got the display the end of September so last couple of the last month and were a bit of a break that enjoy it it's great. Can you remember your very 1st party I do yeah it was a few years ago when I 1st joined the Air Force and I was in training we had to do and to sort of experience what German of a plane was like if I wanted to go down that route of a career I've always been excited about the whole thing so I was excited but there's other people in the aircraft. Which when a fan of it but saw it made me laugh a little bit as bad as it was but those great was great says and what about you can remember your very 1st party yeah I remember sitting on the door of the aircraft at 5000 and thinking war might do in and. I did one years and years ago and it was in the days when you didn't and I'm that you were not but you want to start it like you know like term is over all more like a members looking down and seeing my big boots and lots of water I was petrified Yeah it takes a while to get used to it but even even now I think people have done so hundreds even thousands are always at and you know they're always a little bit it's good to have a little bit about prevention just to harm the senses and you know be switched on at all times they let you do you actually take part some How do they always send you a head to make you do the dropzone So we do as officers on the same we do 2 years of 1st year you do all the training jumps and you run the drop zone so it's called drops I'm safety officer so next year I'll be a new deputy and all get to jump on the displays as and I bet there's a lot of you have to land on your fee I can imagine if you don't you will get ripped by the other is that right. No really I mean you used to be the days of that but we've sort of almost been told a little bit because it puts a bit pressure on people when they are coming in to land I mean if they do they do we have a bit of a laugh and a joke about personal realize it is nothing really bad it's all good fun no no ribbing them no we try not we try to you know obviously don't want to put pressure on people to do something that they wouldn't normally do we you know we tend to just keep it positive and yeah we'd be unnecessary pressure is not good obviously when you're sort of in a close proximity so other are Shootist souls like there was the one you gave a fantastic despise that thank you very much for landing here in Broward let you get back to the white line that's I'm in the the perfect duty for you isn't that brilliant Yeah just back in time for our part and. Thank. Why there's a covert on when I call them that flight left and with us from there are levels to the Balkans partially same Thank you very much to you guys so you're leaving that lunch so you better come over and tell us a bit about that my time in about help us all just off to help us fall and look absolutely fantastic here and not all right I think that you head butted by I thought someone was tapping me on my shoulder earlier on and it's a it's a balloon it's a unicorn balloon like you said to me in my head through a bit more. Like yes we've got time before we catch up with the latest that travel news I might some comes from one son and a me one has on this Monday afternoon this is Valerie. Thank. You. Jack. Thank you and Valerie along with I mean I'm just very naughty I'm sneaking my way through to the front of the move whole crowds really gallop gathering and just Lin is here she's the the man. You're looking resplendent has a huge show you much that's very very nice to know and this is that this is a huge afternoon for you isn't it it's absolutely enormous really really exciting there's just so much going on it doesn't seem to stop for more than a couple of minutes. Since May So you've had time to get yourself in place and know and know a bit about the role a little bit yes I was deputy last year and so I should have paid more attention this is extra big this is an amazing all brass It is an easy amazing over and you know somebody has been very kind the weather is gorgeous everybody's here waiting for the procession to come down the hill so we'll and in fact I'm going to have to leave because we can hear the speakers thought if you got the band starting to March to the right on the hill and there's all sorts of formalities the cranny of the queen the Mosul area a lot of formality lot of Foreman thank you for having a word I hope because really really what very kind I have to say that although the procession itself doesn't stop don't recall the formalities we're actually not that bad at the allowed through that was just specially for us because otherwise you end up on the price I Just Want To my way back to the b.b.c. Radio call you will hear the speakers in just a minute or 2 starting to blare out because that will start to announce the arrivals and we can see the band gathering up the hill with a white helmets that red coats That's splendid they're going to be leading the whole professional for a little bit later on and there they are marching and so with skull and crossbones flag as well we're going to be talking to John Ambulance in just a minute or 2 got to bring you up to that. The latest problem is his Barry. Thanks so much Lesley had if you had been up towards. The north of the cold. 33 this afternoon it doesn't look to be improving in the hand for growth there was an accident there partially blocking the road for a while and into West End Road and it looks like you're getting through there quite well now West End Road maybe a little bit slow going on the speed sensors of the. 13 forwards looking quite slow in a both directions. Straight looks busy involved directions on the 131 at worst King Street looks to be building up in Sudbury as well and still just a little bit adjusted to the north of Paris and Edmonds just south of Ingham on the a 134 there are some temporary traffic lights on that stretch for some road works today southbound heading down towards very busy on the trains across the county. Travel if you see something open up that me call 147312121. You can follow all the action right here on b.b.c. Radio. Breaking news. Radio. Much common traits every game including. Console and following the truck has never been easy with b.b.c. Radio station b.b.c. . B.b.c. Radio. And. In the Oprah carnival day come the procession under way in less than the very splendid sight of the British Imperial Military Band they have just marched their way down the hill in style and I'm not going to be performing as side the mood when I think I'll be leading the procession a little bit later on because it is fun tough because you know you see people in also costumes and wonder how but obviously all of them get ready to be part of the procession which is I get time to write just after 3 o'clock I mentioned earlier on about some John amulets going to talk to to Martin Martin Robbins who is here because that mountain he's part of the John Ambulance he's the psycho response unit which is just one part of the great events like this could happen with that said John on the big events like this you always need medical support and that is exactly what John Ambulance and all their volunteers do you and your cycle response unit was such things to do Matson Basically we're here to patrol event and cycle around make sure everyone's keep in sight if anyone does themselves then where ideally placed around the event to get in this quick so we can. I don't see you being on say Wales it is quicker for us to get around than perhaps somebody on foot and they're amazingly kit to do some I in the yes as call Ok on their carry carry oxygen and. A whole automatic x. Out of the paper later. Basically whatever you're falling on I'm going to call on the back of the boy we've been here all weekend just about you know I have been here all 3 days and we're here into the saving as well have you been have you had to take his Any parent can. Know myself personally as yet there have been some minor incidents this weekend. Myself. As being Ok I was going to say a bit of you obviously would like to use your skills but we have a bit of news because you don't think people are leaving Yeah nobody likes to get. Means we can always call it where you can just like in about. Sir glorious weather and what I said is true is a message on our ministry pretty much you're all volunteers and these sorts of events and I like football as always have done I'm going to tears when we cover all sorts of events indeed Yeah all of us are volunteers we're all give out on freely. Help make sure that the event from safely. Why have you been the summer this summer . Beginning the year I did London Marathon in. Various Connell's rights for lawyers and other sporting events as well so how did you get into in the 1st place I saw it as a kid when I was 10 years old. And into the adult unit and then progress up to amulets level and respond the same to enjoy it I love it when you do anything different we can do things without you as well so thank you for a walk and thankfully y.b. Made it home for you know. Indeed yes thank you very much trying to Monson Robbins but this cycle response is a unit for some John Ambulance So it's but 25 past 2 ish and the Bandit just gone silent it's the British imperial and they can be judging at this moment I think the entries in the combo procession and the carnival I think is probably pretty much all got together is running right along the sea front and then I will pier and I will end when I'm in the Such a. Hole and away from us from the time and then back again so we get a double whammy don't we have got the perfect position where we are opposite the mill in small people turned out now in the last 10 minutes it's already been quite busy hasn't it the people I think Oh come off the beach say a lot of people being on the beach but now they're all making my way down to the front and to try and have a little look at the procession I'm going to be trying to step through the crowds a little bit later on see if I can do that without encouraging everybody else so we've got more music and then we're going to be talking to Raj Rajaratnam with us from Oprah music from my problems he's hit on of all they had their problems and their problems music event on Friday nights and this is a huge event and part of. A big big program for the whole of the it's a little more to Roger in just a minute the day after but the music from Mike in the mechanics this is over my shoulder. cut cut by going to come it was about my shoulder here on b.b.c. Radio. Live from obra. And the sides are amazing the British imperial military band in that red tunics and the white helmets and so on but you also say it just so somebody with feathers and wings marching past as well getting ready for the flights and with me here is that the t.v. Executive. Who I gather you're going to be yet taking part in the in the convoy upright as well when I'm not exactly going to be taking but I'm walking alongside wonderful group by using us from. Doing what I think one should do with a bucket I think that. Well and to. And of entering into the spirit of it we've we've got this wonderful community quad from from Lowestoft and they'll be performing on the float so I know my place just suppose supporting them sharing the moment so. The whole of the weekend really started on Friday night then that with that with the big problems we had we had a carnival from just as a way of kicking off the weekend from up from up snake forms and we had them playing British music classics and you know we thought there's nothing more quintessentially British than something like that of a carnival and it's floats so we should have quintessentially British live music so we had everything from the arch a signature tune as a people now get to know that's. The word and we have a. No I mean my mom told me all the words to which I which I gather there is a set of words of which I can only remember John to go on fell down a woman and broke a bone in his arm. But no that was a that was quintessentially British we had the Dambusters March and you know calling all workers and so we definitely got into sort of British carnival movement I mean you've got your own promises you're in the middle of as well yeah I guess there's a go they go through right away till the end of August and we end with Friday night is Music Night Live with Len Goodman hosting us so they'll be a bit of judging and dancing no doubt Yes No All this week that the problems carry on the the one night we get off. Is tonight because how can you compete with with over Carnival and of course we all my colleagues wanted to be down here in any case this is for those the land for a dozen as far as well it has or it has a really wonderful and natural shape to it and I mean I've not been here 3 years and people said you know you're not quite going to really sort of begin to get over the sense of what the carnival really is and you know each year now I look forward to it more and more and that magical moment of the procession of the 1st of all is the the effort that people have put into the floats is quite remarkable and even those just wandering up and down the High Street now even those who aren't taking part in floats they've come to such extraordinary lengths with their dress. And then that yeah the lantern perception and then the fireworks with fireworks over the sea there's nothing quite like it and amazing and I are you enjoying living in Suffolk he said you've been here 3 years now and slowly you must be slowly being suffocated there is a well I mean I'm a no I'll never be regarded as a as a native but I feel like a really proud Suffolk resident having absolutely wonderful time in and seeing you know a moment like this when everybody comes together is the extraordinary thing about this county I think and you know we see it in terms of the supporters name but the way in which you know. So many people get involved in the community genuinely feels like a community that's absolutely how we feel having a great time to just describe for me. What we keep. Going to reveal. Well it's some I was thinking what on earth could I wear to celebrate particularly in the in the 75th anniversary and well enough that I was. And. My colleagues from sort of frightened an extra extra extra extra extra large t. Shirt and I thought that's probably still not going to fit so I found my old Union Jack shirt at the bottom of the door and I thought today's the day it has to come out it's perfect absolutely perfect the model is not going to take a photo of it I think we need to have on our Facebook but. Roger thank you very much and I look up some money to put in your bucket when they come pleasure to see you Roger right the chief executive of slight molting so here and you got that from all over a 2nd intifada and that's going to be just one of those coming in a little while as the by the marching band of the mental here on the main street and there are people just lining the whole street 3 or 4 days and it will be exactly the same rights for the time as the procession the carnival flights will starting to line up that being judged as we speak and then through the crowning of a con the queen you'll hear over all the time I that's right next door to me I feel you will get the proclamation everything on the program as well especially for you I think that holding it specially for us and then the precise in will make its way up along the High Street and all the way back again is about truly I mean this really is a traditional Carnival and able to bring you just a little bit of the flavor through the soft today in the city I couldn't be here. When I look at more music and then it's got some of his very splendid undress the next door to him as well try call him as all we have a bit of music festival from Billy Joe Well it's still rock and roll to me. As to why he had. Yeah. And it's still a rock n roll it. Is Right. On this Monday often in. Perception by that as we speak more and more people are lining the route ready for the procession to get under way and I was I was talking about the proclamation being announced just off the track that cries all the. Proclamation and that proclamation will be read by Charlie will who is with the tricorn hot is it exceptionally smart he is multitasking as he is life but Operations Manager Sergeant mice keeper of the ropes and time Cross does it every day quite less Well I'm glad you think so yes somebody has to do it and it's me do you do the oh yes oh yes but I have. Norman French you know oh yes. No Oh yeah that's not right not the right thing today you know how to be in time cut scenes 19 known to be some old guy for a while but the mayor at the time I met him in a pub and he said would I look a drink when I fell for him after some of the drinks he made a proposition I was in no condition to refuse. To be there to say yes yes and then the life they say live on today was are the ones you have a good crowd on the base to have is an excellent you know x. In turn I unfortunately couldn't have the helicopter but we we did our best in the circumstances I don't just said there was the fly past but with a honest. Well we we have to a ploy to have a helicopter and unfortunately we didn't win wasn't one available wasn't one available at the top of the life but such major work and it looked like well they are a lawyer is a big part of Oprah I think people. Have we've been here since I tane 54. When it came from saw as well and it's been a big. People have a look but it is arses and people remember that I'm an often involved with a lot but over 40 years. I promoted me to top job because I wasn't any good at all in skids anymore on the basis of the skids are they the things that I wrote the book comes up on those yes and there's a lot written as you put it on and pull as well you have to move them about when I 1st started. With on rails on and 6 people had to lift them but nowadays a plastic. So I say to you what did you got the life but a ridge like no never was paid for it wouldn't let me go to the gym amazing what have you started to get Yeah well we don't have on average we probably do 12 or 15 because we have a little into a lot but as well the day class which is very useful to show us and say and on the river. I mean we have funny shirts with oil day before we have funny do you think well we were cold I'm a Coast Guard rang me it was on the launching authority to say Ken can you launch a lifeboat snipe I said no but we can send the interloper up. And what actually happened there wasn't a car in the river till some daylight had got a fait mixed up and ended up in the duck pond. There was a car in the dock the story of hope but the story was that people thought it was the end of the river. But we stood down from that one have to get in there and so I said your old self didn't take me 3 what's going to happen is often in well with a no going to introduce a comma planes only rolling go up stairs when the carnival this year is kind of a corner always on her float I will go with the man and escort her up stairs with my sis and I'll put my Most is time to get my proclamation ready for Sahlins for the time clock now do that speechifying then I'll read the convo Queen's proclamation and is that right as that be done every year pretty much yes ever since I've known. So I've known a lot of years to get. Used to but not anymore if I get it wrong I mean so. It's not the people over at the pub over there like they are the audience is assembling who can say them so low no it isn't out yet yet also you can see over the top of that I can see the vultures Well I hope to really a brilliant event is that I can see all the all the there is these are all the former Queens with messages on as well so loads and loads of them and they will welcome the consequent thank you so much. Thank you very much well listen to you oh yes. Oh yes I would yes like I have to get it right you'll come a crime in itself and not as a con of a queen in just a minute I'll tell you as well so the band and I'm marching off we've got to the. Carnival queens from the years gone by lots of girls been taken I've got my pink socks she's on as well I wish you were just assuring me through the irony a moment against I'm. Going to find the crowds and get through that to watch the start of this trick talk is it. Official of the official timing here got a little while hopefully before that happens you have to be all gone then you haven't got me always Crimea well before you were giving me one single bit busy. So it's. Because people watch and crying I'm going to try and sneak in just a little while so I can actually get to a front seat position to give you a bit of a commentary you know bit of music for you it's the 4 seasons now and December 963 remember it well. Luke. Luke. Luke. Or law. Allows. Oh. Wow. Wow. Wow Wow That's a full season the start of December 19th 630 it wasn't all that has it in him behind me but I always are in no way starting to get people assaulted there I mean that we're not leaving the streets for 5 days reading for all the professions I call on the whole day is process and after day an added a 5th the hearing the 20 minutes the procession should my lad said the maid or they are you will get the carnival queen will be granted all the time of the shot and strategist is going to be crowned by the man of Oprah that's not the whole She's attended by even Evie Bridget and Jessica Walters who are old girls as well and then about $350.00 in the procession heads off Imperial much in a band at the front of the tunnel between us but you've got all the carnival queens from previous years 45 of them as well and then the word love is I gather loads and loads of talent will flights and other such and lots of people as we head out around top generals are going to be the class as well from a convent from from all over from slight Multics as well and that voice you had respect to marry was Keith but here is a is the man he's been looking out for us. Isn't a very well very good job has anything they set fluid when we need it and it's just been attending to our every need it's a lovely guy really good man and I switch the kids or the crowd in a little while hoping to have to stand and just hear that proclamation I'm just going to color what these people who are standing here next to me live on air on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk somebody let them back off like that don't worry for all I'm from it is if you come specially for Carnival that yes we've got her we are not yet caravan park. It's amazing isn't it lovely We come every year we really love it was a sense of ethics like in the colony Yes definitely definitely So I'm sure I got the bigger and better this year because it's the issues especially with the parachutes that came in earlier the children absolutely love it was I did not spectacular Why do you keep telling me I say you were just telling me that they're all coming down over the Queen's from past years that yes they are they're making their way down the steps of the town hall and being announced as you 3 were on 40 of them I know mazing look fantastic with all that with that Calloway boxing on and so on Scotland has already had some on there as well but let's catch up on the latest the travel news here on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk got the latest news for you with Barry. From b.b.c. Radio Suffolk thanks very much Lesley So Q If you're on the panel the a 12 the cult don't change junction $33.00 heading up towards a church that sand not up to the long queue now does seem to have improved and the knock on effect of that earlier I stood on the Hanford road seem to be eased up one night a little bit slow going there on the speed sensors I'd say heading out of apes reach if anything that's looking a little bit extra busy the next and I was cleared a little while ago I just need to the growing health club the 134 days are looking busy in both directions and on the speed sensors so that's just to the east all of a sudden break and no foot Rideout cybering things are looking busy this afternoon on the trains things running well across the county on Paradise for b.b.c. Radio Suffolk you always station you'll b.b.c. . Passionate about Suffolk mislead Delfin on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk. Yeah they will very live I have to say over a for the 75th Oprah on of all recess and that as we see it was funded by the board big things like the lovely woodwork and so on and that's the business side just on my mill hill. And the Bible you've got over the past over Queens that the beauty queens the accountable beings who have made their way down the steps that will get their places of their own I mean this that's 45 of them because this being the 75th here people chairing a some of those that are coming and the crying of that is being will happen I think just after all 3 years of my being while the news is on but I'll try and bring you the full flavor of that last hour of the said between $3.00 and 4 o'clock a special guest with me because coming up on the end of the month. Helming a whole is the on television Antiques Road Show and you may have heard I'm a long free we'd love you to come along and bring some goodies for people to see we will be there hopefully in the afternoon just to reflect on that but with me today is tell me and he is one of the experts He's the chap who sort of. Thing some puzzles Oh Marias Well he is yeah sitting with these. Bright pink rises I have to say not so bright rises he's sitting on one of the benches we're going to talk to him as a guest in the last but well we got the amounts with. The Queen's and the princesses and so on I thought we would just make a quick visit to some is happening on the beach just a little way up from here where you can go see a film all kinds footage all of the carnival from years gone by and this is something we yet when we have a look at. Hello I'm Jane Jarvis and I work for the Cambridge film trust for their screen on cd project which is bringing archive alive thanks to the funding of the b f I and local district councils and we spoke earlier in the year and I think it was sort of had got under way because you've been all over the place of yeah now we've been around Norfolk and Suffolk coast we started I think back in June June 24th in South world and then I spoke to you just as we were about to go to Felix stone to Lowestoft for a double whammy weekend which was really good people love it that's just just explain and we got behind us a lovely Mulkey and a chance to see some archive footage just tell me a bit more about what you're up to well today it's brilliant to be here as part of the 75th 78 of 75th anniversary of the older Carnival and to see all these amazing people the crowds and whatever here so we're actually going to take people back in time but to 901st sees when thought ness just up the road was already established a really well established holiday resort but of sort of Fantasyland it's betrayed us and that was actually I think established in. 191213 so it's been going for some time and so there's some lovely promotional film of Fort ness and then another flee film of Dick Catchpole is a very little chap who used to come here on holiday from his so from Ipswich his family worked in Ipswich and there's some great film of Dick being very involved in everything but also putting his hand to try and turn in and pull in a hole in the helping the fisherman haul in the fishing boats. And then a mystery film from the thirty's these things come up every now and then and the East Anglian film archive from where a lot of these films come from. They were given a film a few years back and it was bought for 50 p. In a car boot sale in Aylesbury and I watched it a couple of years ago and it is so elegant and lovely it's beautifully captioned and these people on holiday it all counts it's you know tells where it is so we want to see if anyone can help turn detective and find any connection with this family. Because I think there must be some story behind it that's exciting and that's we stand so life but it was launched at about 11 and say a few minutes ago and in the middle of their display here over at the moment people just lining the beach looking at to see. The ribs they've got the inflatable you've got the big lifeboat as well I think as a fishing but they're probably being rescued and so on but but you've got footage of a lifeboat from much earlier yeah no I've just been watching this lifeboat thing being launched in front of these massive crowds and 930 s. There was exactly the same scene different photo physically and people writing on it as well so it's absolutely magical to see that today of course all because of all 950. Beautiful color filmed by Mr Tower and his son. I think it's coming to see us later today it's very kind of given us permission to use it but he made it to celebrate the 1st Carnival after the wall so it's full of let's get away from this will stare at a and have some fun and and it certainly does a wonder for the carnival queen from that era because I know that about 40 of them have come back from years gone by when we wonder Lapchick because I bet she's in the footage of the film isn't she is I think she's named actually is it shown up to now you have to come up shitless Lynsey I think is Joan Constance Yeah 5950 carnival queen so if we can track it that every great to get her to come and watch the film as well so what does this all have a long term view I mean the used to looking for a car for it it was planned and then oh well I think so I mean this is part of a big project the thing happening nationally with the Britain on film it's called it's mapping the whole of the u.k. With digital archive so if you can imagine we have the East Anglian film archive covering this area but there are other regional archives all over the u.k. Who've been digitizing film with funding from various sources but including the b.f.r. I And so yes I mean there was a lot more on the shelves and on the in the vaults of the of the archives to be digitized and that's great because it means it can be accessed and people like you and I can can say in public places I love I love watching the films I still have a sneaky look a little bit later on I may have a brilliant day thank you Lesley Yes and didn't do come down and send your team come in sit down we've got a nice little seats it's very cozy well sheltered and we've got special sticks of rock with well so do come along we love to see you. John Jarvis talking to us a little bit earlier on today and I just think that's lovely that here we have the 75th Oprah Carnival and go along to that little tent on the beach and see some footage from 1950 and earlier as well so really interest is worth look at their website and hearing more about the work they do as well I feel bad because we're loads of people. Lining the. Ridgepole looking very excited and getting ready for the big event that's going to happen which is the yet crowding of the conical queen here so we're in 75th over carnival procession and as we head towards 3 o'clock we've got the con of the Queen about to be a to be crowd and she's Shannon strata We've got her attendants as well and I'm somewhat sort of the other the bottom of the mentor was the VIP area a little way ahead of me and also the push my way through the crowd and I'm sorry I maybe I should have won Pasha gear or I'm not sure I'm looking smart enough but hopefully they will hang on me and and white to laugh to the news to do the crime and so we can do it all for you live on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk So I looked him a left right all along front of the yacht white lawn I tell towards the front you can see not only it's a float stretching into the distance but lots of people on bicycles dressed up bicycles that will be you know also part of the parade the parade will come past us here it'll go up the hill along the High Street all the way around and then all the way back again which is why so many people here I'm really keen to stand and available to watch the procession of a sort of it's a double looked at all trying not keep you posted and tell you exactly what's happening in the fleet when we get to the other side of the news as the news finishes then we will actually be pairing the crowding all but on the whole we don't go why you. See 88 and freeview channels 72. Is b.b.c. Radio Suffolk. B.b.c. Bosses at more than 2 thirds of firms have no training in how to respond to cyber attack according to new research more than 100 large firms who questioned one in 10 admitting they have no plans to cope with hacking the report follows a massive cyber attack that crippled many g.p. Surgeries and hospitals across the country they were suffering and the Matthew Hangal He is also the minister did you to bring in new laws or actually to give a greater powers to find companies that don't take cyber security seriously because many businesses hold data on all of us good business reasons we want to be able to use that data flexible in innovative ways but they've got to keep it secure and this report shows there has been progress but there is more to be done by u.k. Businesses and charities to keep our data safe too archaeological trenches are being dug and it searches Kono from today to repair the way for the major renovation of the area which gets underway in January Big Ben has fallen silent in Westminster potentially for the next for most of the next 4 years woman of ation work is carried out it's the longest period of time the chimes have been out of action since the great bell was 1st rung in $859.00 finally a leading art dealer and t.v. Present has discovered that a painting he once owned and sold for just a few 1000 pounds has been confirmed as an original by this of a painter John Constable the work an early version of his famous Hey Wayne was dismissed as fake 20 years ago this valuation it's now worth more than 2000000 pounds for that mold was always convinced that it might have been an image you know but at the time couldn't prove it you could hope you can agree. It's had. I sold as a fact I bought it back after a so that 1st time round a few years base and try to get. 17 years ago to prove it but couldn't. Suffix weather staying cloudy but drawing this afternoon and then tonight will be dry but often cloudy and turning up in the patches not be temperatures down to 15 Celsius 59 that's b.b.c. Radio Suffolk news 3 minutes past 3. Needles and on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk a. Very live as you can tell as the this is the pitch and paramilitaries on the right the way forward in front of the neutral and in the all breath is con of a by comical procession die and in just a minute or 2 we're going to have the crowning all of the Queen aside hang on in that. Listening to. B.b.c. Radio Suffolk. And I can tell you that they have held the driving public on the old way and specially for somebody to say read us on what he's been looking all for this is my job they knew that we wouldn't have to do anything live until let 3 minutes call so that the band is here at labor right and behind the band is the float with the combo play him and the princesses they will go into the main tall in just a minute to tell you why you've got so many adults a child and you were talking to your on there is the time problem areas well my just and all this I'm at the top of the steps but as soon as the band stops I will start the proclamation and there is like running of the playoffs or whatever try to do this live on I have a ball on the plane this is a shot of the struggle. Also photographs things like going to go with the lovely and the little boat that's been that I have I assume they're escorted out keep but who's looking after things so they get escorted up just take me through what happens. They they come down from up staff as one saving crowd and Ok and then they'll build that trailer and fall in behind the band and then the 3rd vehicle in the procession and the older March will be the 44th fall. And we gave the population. I don't know. Paper pattern from above the steps. Trying to work out whether this is the prophet my son. Why did say was it really must have a proclamation like on his way home is a struggle on the town crier as. Chief he'd take it we gave them. All move Am I in the way well holding up the whole proceedings by the him I'm all right here. Is the chief the chief marshal when we were in the why them so we have to stop the whole. It's been held up because we was I mean the way where they were in the princess you know I think this is the time in the. Whiting we were standing in the way of the whole thing. Holding up all formality is there I did my making my way at the crime so this all happens on the flight so I guess that's where they do the proper. I mean. A running commentary to the crown when they come back in a moment up the steps to the crowning. So that the queen will come this way so that helping off that flight. A little bite on the trial results I gather it is Shannon . By the. Hole and then she's gone. And Jessica and then they had the carnival procession as it goes around the time I'm just debating whether we can play a piece of it you want 5 piece of music. Right part of that moment if you play music tell you what let's play just a little bit of Blondie and Heart of Glass and then I'll do this when we get to the very formal official occasions it's not like this is a proper royal there is a. Very much better than let's let's have a bit of music quickly. Because we've got the queen. In the right. Time a bit of blending. Good To be just a little. Longer Here we go for the proclamation on the crown of the. Great things. To me. When I think proclamation of the coming do you come. And ask them to do if you publish to. That. And other records the crowd nightly has no actual great big things being off base of current. And when rather than to make. It to be crowned Queen of the car can't be held Ange out. Now if you pay by with that you are. Opposing these history that. Carnival clique to have been to host such that the generation of the said car drove. It witnessed where all I have hair done to set. This 21st day of August 2007 the council I just let the men oh. Maybe some judgment boys who go. To performing the pleasant. I welcome all of you townspeople alike events in this ancient town today I am very grateful indeed to the many people interest and. Makes it possible for this event to be continued by. My congratulations all of the members of the committee among you 3 each for around 50 years. And. Enabling 75th honorable to be held at a great day I wish you all a very happy day. With very great pleasure that I can. Judge a comical free. Ride is. I mean the real crime is placed that that was the either. No no no no no no no no no no Each Louie Louie Louie. I can safely say the procession is well underway appropriate piece of music to playfully and as that all gets under way this is some of. His songs. We've. I thought I would so still. Some money off. Of a procession in Oprah when I bring you the flavor of the event and. Then I think we can. Procession due to get under way any time now I think we held that pretty Percy's too much by being in the way of the carnival procession and I think we were in the way as they were trying to make their way up into the main hall and we stepped back and the procession the aisle here going past and try and bring you a flavor of some of the floats but I'm also looking ahead to the end of this month because Antiques Roadshow you probably heard Fiona Bruce saying so on that b.b.c. Radio Suffolk today she is going to be bring me to Eleanor Hall 31st of August you're invited to take along your goodies to get them to get them valued to get them looked at and to get a bit of information about them is a free day fascinating day as well because you will get to see some filming done I've been to others I was there when they did one in the summer all I think many years ago over in various And and as well. So this one a whole one of the experts say. Roberts The only I'm Robert bless them has come along to the opera Carnival to have a bit of a chat with this is often Thanks for thanks for coming along thank you for the invite and you're based in the us often and. Get it right and I've been serious when Yeah it is but different and obviously back in the family business has been a battles for for a few years great grandfather 860 s. Also on 4th generation we're getting quite good at it. And it's guns that you specialize in yeah I think yes that should. Say all for pay. General things with shooting is a good area for. In this part of the world a lot of the farmers and the people will have their own shop. Very much say so so I think when you started with the way you were doing armory metals as well when I started off. So originally the b.b.c. Saw you with all that rain coming in they had a bit of a health and safety crisis and so these all need to be checked so my 1st role was simply checking the weapons to make sure there was no nothing loaded. They were being handled properly which was following and then after a while they said when you have got recording a war I must be doing something right and I did that and it was great fun and then I progressed they said well we think you we need to stop being normal and become an expert so to my delight I became an expert and very good fun it is to get very many guns and. Yeah we get a surprising number ranging from. Fairly mundane run of the mill stuff to some of the most exotic things I've ever clapped always on I mean but tell me about some of the most exotic most exotic most recent we were in the back country in Dudley and this is a bit technical so be quick cult Patterson revolver crops up there's only ever been 2800 of them made ever. 24 percent have survived. This was the 838 model and stop waffling we put a value of 150000 pounds on it how did you feel when when this part did the end run . Because I was the thing is it really no this one was coming in but but we were military which is my speciality we were very pleased me so well we've really got the best thing on the road show this show we were all great and then somebody turned up with a father. Which put our 150 cosplay trying to with a 1000000 and just a few months. Of Jeffrey didn't get into his father's eyes and I think this is a Faberge floor and Jeffrey did it say he was a very happy bunny to local boys I can imagine how. He won by a very long stretch that will come out we're going have a long chat and if you look at the information about Robert he says he likes his colored colorful tries his and he couldn't get more colorful the day is bright pink rises and he sucks even he's got it's got multicolored like he absolutely fantastic you've taken a photo specially for face but of course I have of course I have 0 sense sounds to me as if the procession is about to get under way so this is it the carnival procession is now underway ever in bed see all the flights that go past so we catch up with the latest travel news and tell you not much traffic flowing here and Oprah Barry can tell you about the rest of the county. Travel. Bridge Road. Before Hamlet beginning to build up as you head into the town center. Of traffic moving quite well it's improved if anything northbound of the. On the speed sensors and the King Street looking busy. Building up on the 134. Just towards Bury St Edmunds road. Road junction. Travel if you see something. 147312121. Hello this is Bruce and he will be filming it hell all on Thursday the 31st of all you can hear more on the radio why don't you bring along your treasures and join us for a great free day out there. Right . B.b.c. Radio. And. Whole we will be there we're going to talk more about that in just a minute because we've Exactly. What we've managed to hide behind. A couple of chairs here and tell me is with us master gunsmith. Witness on farms as well as the family business and he is one of the experts for. Him in just a minute to have a bit more music by 1st of all on this Monday afternoon on. The beautiful side. 16. When he sat. With me. You want to see the smile. With the fold. If you say. Well. I can work this thing. And if you say. The beautiful and perfect time here on b.b.c. Radio Suffolk 325 we're with you 3 till 4 o'clock live in the old Brook on the full day the procession under way in that make its way through the. Lines and possession which is always truly magical here. Towards the beach and then the fall where rounding off when you look on the weekend that's really well I mean so many people here we're looking ahead to the end. Of the month to the 31st of August because Antiques Road Show television's antiques road show with you in the breeze will be at the helm hall and a chance to long long get them looked at but you can also because that is sort of what insects and see what you are right and you can actually hear what's being said about some of the items other people have and tell me is with us and that robot his business family business in that battles he says was for generations he said to. Me So you never want to drive a rebel and want to do something else it was fairly much foregone conclusion. Academically I wasn't exactly gifted or bone idle according to my mother so we're not always well he's gone space is always fascinated me for I mean the idea of a small child playing with guns. Better. Says So tell me about through the the history of your business and it was great great great grandmother great great grandfather was the original robot and grandfather Harry my father Lindsay and then me but going back to Robert I think they did that just to save changing place in the shop so it's an economy measure is it guns and other things as well. And excess reason and salaries but sales but we do a lot of repair work. Do. Expert Witness work ballistics and things like that and of course now the bonus of being a. That must be did you do more or more of that and I've been to the very lucky we do 12 shows a year and I do as I start off normally do all the shows so 2 or 3 times this year are not expert ng so they said well can you be an almost well so it's great so I go back to my old job. And we were talking while the me is it was about medals as well that you get an awful lot of medals along the stories are interesting and some of them can be really valuable although some sadly not Oh yes it depends I mean in order for war medals. The set of 1415. War Medal and victory medal about 820130 pounds if it's got a really good story attached to it the casualty on the 1st. Figure can go up and up and up and it has got a story to it it's not what a medal collector wants he wants to look up the history of the medals and you can bring the medal to life. It's one of the great things with the medals always amuses me is people quite often hand me bunch of medals and I look at them in the say well what who was Staff Sergeant Smith of the fist Norfolk's and they get a very old look ahead you know that it's written on the back of the medal. So they are personal in a way as well so do you do people come and see you in your shop now that they know that you know yes people. There is lots of people bringing in things working that only. Takes I know nothing about tactics unless it's pointy shoes. So people actually come in vases and go What's this yes I don't know it's a Vols. Things as well they. Might like swords noise that sort of thing yeah the sort of thing I collect myself I was a horrible child. In the business and I think you grew up in the in the shop today growing up there as well yeah oh yes. It's been the same shop since we took over 96 years we've been the same place don't move very much in Suffolk. And the interesting thing as well is that is that the sort of guns that your family has seen their and repairs and so on every time must of Chinese I mean when when your great great grandfather started or got the number right. Nearly everyone would have had a gun why. Yes Well of course there was no certificate in those days no it's a lot tighter and if you look at the list of country gunsmiths. I think Beccles had 3 gunsmiths and there was a huge number because that's just you know. The Mike has a collectible So is that one of the 1st things you look at. Yes there were guns assigned and of course the the quality of the gun and the maker for reflects the price you've got the top London makers Holland and Holland Purdy balls they all the nape plus ultra far arms. Correspond to that's more valuable. Unless you get one there was one I looked at of the auction that was a boss very very good make and only in my opinion best can make a going on this quite frankly was a piece of rust in the shape of the gun that had once been a boss and therefore. Very little value so the people that like Alpha things that it's real show a real show it's quite important for people because you are paragons them and to keep them in working order isn't that did that I mean I'm right in thinking about shotguns as I need to make sure the barrel straight and so on. Just standard checks there's a proofing system which is so complex I won't go into it but yes it's a bit like a car there's no compulsory immunity but it's a good thing to have them checked every so often make children safe in functioning order and you sign that you get called in to do it ballistics he said that if there's a case where there's been a gun fired you might get a call that yeah I've done that in the past not quite so much now but yes that's a rather string to my bow that's a terrible punishment to keep but it could be better for the I don't know bullet or armory with that word or I'll grant you that one is fine so say what sort of things can you tell when you when you would go to something like that well a lot of the time on a case. Of some history this has happened. To me he springs to mind is somebody was shot by ricochet gonna be in for that and it's a ricochet and we prove quite conclusively that it's physically impossible we reconstructed the entire thing and know that just simply couldn't have happened people say that if that happened you look at it and know it quite patently didn't it defies the laws of physics. It's really interesting piece of news it will come back our mind everyone what they should. The sort of things that you would like to see as well so. Is that my guest I guess but we've got to try as best as we. See from. The convo procession happening as we speak with towards him in just minutes after this from the full top son that walk away when I. A way say out. Of all top 10 on b.b.c. Right as Suffolk and walk away yet on the way about 25 minutes to get a before we hand over to stay for stuff falls with you for a drive time tonight between 4 and 7 o'clock in the kids and coming up this week have a bit of that sports news for you and I can still hear the parade is still slow certainly making its way past the so many flights some applause and lots of people taking photos as well with just relaxing reclining and as we've. And then. As appropriate as where and having to tell me his family business. And. And just love guns ready that might the maybe you well there are alternatives on guns aren't there but like most of the provincial trade we never actually made them they came out of Burma with names on them but they're still Antonians on guns back a little so people will have seen their business there yeah member these days of the Antiques Road Show so just let me through how. We will. But we're not in it which is quite civilized the rest of the crew will be in there for days the general public bless them will be achieving it is normally a very old show that we're not there when they have already started to queue 6 o'clock in the morning. And they will keep the main queue go through to reception where there's experts who will look at what they've got and then say what you need to go to books paintings pictures hopefully militaria and then you will go to as I was going to join another queue great great for carrying Disney. Which a British institution came in and then you learn of the table where the experts will look at your object we will if you can the questions we will tell you we can tell you about it and we can afford to give you a form of value on it if we think it's you know what it's worth within the within our capabilities and just a few of them you select as as worthy of filming as that is that what So you don't lie to them they are what we'll do if something comes in we think ideally we want some people very interesting people are nice. And we think we can get a really good record out of it. As a bonus Ideally they don't know what it's worth but it's worth a lot and then we will say we launch we called this the producer will come in charge the people. That's a yes or no and you're going to flip. Up the film and I have to say that's a bit we all watch the program for isn't it to see people being told that the thing you know the juggler found in the loft that they thought was where time is actually worth vastly more it's the reveal which everybody likes Yes it's really great if you get it and you get the why reaction which is what we're all aiming for the people standing right of course it might be just it's a really good story behind something as well I mean can you do something stand out for you not necessarily particularly valuable but with really interesting stories behind them oh we get some things that are actually fascinating but have no real value whatsoever but a really important connection to part of the family going back to the medals something there. Something you can always put no value on whatsoever and isn't springs to mind a little album. Great. Another was 1st world war nurse and they would have albums on all their companies would sign and order to purchase and so on they're worth next to nothing but I sold that actually belonged to your great grandmother who was a 1st world war nurse all a fantastic thing to have no value but what a connection mazing story to town is that is so sad isn't it that all these really personal items and those people go they're not always necessarily valued by anyone else well that's true but one of the things we always try and point out to people often we've seen them. You need to archive this which is essentially if it's a little book right turn everything you know about the book and put it in there if it's a photograph of a great great uncle albert right on the back of the picture it's great and what he did. That then becomes research will because next people go it's a picture of why it's a picture of my great great and he was so you know if it you want I want you know about it and preserve it and so many people don't and then when everybody goes it's a picture of who could be anybody else's light we should all ask our parents stories you know more and do people pass the pass than guns free families and do they become Allan's aside Oh very much so they'll they'll go. From fall to sort of the gun is a very long lived thing. So yeah issue quite often get. I've just finished. Overhauling a pair of Purdy's for a customer that belong to his great. Uncle and they were built in 1900 and they're still going strong I mean I although I don't know it from personally shoot a flintlock shotgun that dates from 765 that you have to have to load it with gunpowder not. All the time everything goes down from the front end and flints and yet great fun person. But that look into your resume reason would I be fired say with the. When the college rises you're a bit flamboyant I that has been leveled against me in the past and in fact some of the roadshow actually said which century you are actually from and which century do you would you like to have been from Oh I think the I think the 1700s would have been wonderful but I'm not sure what you want to be landed gente does not want from being apply boy Very don't know is because they have to pick pick which sort of strata of society you are part of as well so if your wildest dreams what would be the best thing that someone could bring along to you to. Oh well it's everybody's got this one but there's another event trick I was a chap called Call who invented a machine gun and this is in the mid 17 hundreds there's only been about a dozen ever made there's 3 known ones but I would just love one to turn up it would be fabulous discovered is that right that's what we need so if you've got a park or please bring it to the show oh wise Suffolk Smith So other some sticky famous names names. Well of course the get Tell me potato Well Galleon this was a very long established gunsmith. Minorities because they have a self-interest than I ever know which based Yes it is a very full and make. Member galleons game back there as well well it's lovely to chat to you I will see you next. Hopefully we've got lots of sunshine there is one you have lots and lots of people turn up so knives armory guns that will be the sort of thing you'd love to say bring it all over we look forward to seeing you all and Robert thank you so much for making our way down to the Festival of the carnival here they put on a lot of store specially for you I. Might have a different life and see what's what Thank you very much as Robert tell me so looking forward to it it's the. 1st of all has to go along absolutely Freeview to get those that lost and that have a great day at helping a hole in the city that. Got nothing valuable to long but well come have a word with you as well as Robert tell me who is with us as a. Guest The solved in music for you here on b.b.c. Radio suffocates Adele set fire to the right. Adele adds that it's on the horizon you can see yeah the stuff at school of samba of the carnival procession the procession all the time that we've been talking the perception has been still making its way it's only just moving out where was and will be coming back the biggest lure a big flood so this is I mean usually to get round this go or not Rob It's amazing this is people in the pub across the road there in a balcony above watching this procession. As you say this. Part of the moment flatbed lorry lots of young children on a blue sky and on one of the bike over the lorries going to the corner just to stop Well I think. It's not going backwards my calls Paul tells her daughter about you know I'm stuck over for the evening that's not a bad thing that I could be quite enjoyed and that he's not like oh I know this is a narrow road specially for a Big Lots of youngsters on board waving their boats as they got their stripey c c costumes on as well I think I heard earlier on the quad from from all night my old sayings this is the truth is not taught today is that we spoke to earlier on because they've got the young girls but I mean I haven't They you know really we just saw the joke steam engine from the long shop and using them we could believe that the perception is still got we got no one drop the beach in just a minute to tell you 1st the latest on the news with Barry. From b.b.c. Radio Suffolk I try my slightly hand and I was told to write a book in question on the speed census now and nothing cheap bad to mention all my road looks to be building. Slightly as is the road. Talking to change just a short. While junction 33 just. 3 fourths. Of the green golf club. Just building up 131 just sitting up towards brick on the trains. Ready and if you see something open up. She won she won 21. Out of all procession under way have a lantern parade later on and follow works but there is also something else happening along the beach later tonight as we found out earlier on Hello Leslie I'm Caroline Wiseman I'm from the Lookout Beach which we're standing right next to a new can ever see above pretty flat se and long expanse here of shingle beach and you've been running events here for how long well we've had enough 7 years which he believes most amazing and during those years we've had so many really exciting projects with. Artists there been a few peanuts poets have been lots of people making Oh so it's literally things everything to do with creativity basically is what we do in the tower and I like because you can sit in the time and if you just I mean look at it as as it says and I've had people say I have a knight in there and just the inspiration area and that's really very I notice we encourage them just so they get the kind of the whole feel of the place to stay there overnight so tell me what you're up to at the moment because it involves film doesn't does it's a really exciting project it's crude it's called a live in universe what it is we're inviting everybody not just artists you could be absolutely everybody who is listening to this to make their own short art film so this is up to up to 3 minutes long no more. It's not a narrative film it's a whole. Involves tactics Brest of the film about how it feels to be alive in the universe we've got some examples on our website to help people which is open each Look Out dot com and we would love to think about them is that they can be made by people all over all brother all over Suffolk indeed all over the world we have got films that we're showing it today made by people from all over the world and the mazing thing as well is of course with modern technology and social media they can be shown to people all over the world so your listeners if they would like to please each of you make a film then that can be shown to be in Africa or in India Syria because everyone's got phones what does it feel like and we're going to be inviting these people as well people who live in all these countries to make their own films for us to see here I said the model is much I mean you're a bit of these days with films and I have a sense we do well why not give it a go go away for tall order those and how it feels to be alive in the universe so where do you start Well you got some I did you get that but you'll find you will find you have your own ideas I know so we heard it here 1st Matt and let's say you're making up for a fight for ever about what the subject is maybe a dozen. And you have one of the all to say I do you I've got Alan herring words and she's one of our one of the artist who's done a number of very exciting projects and she has made a couple of films that she's showing here don't tell me Eileen. Well I'm one of the artists has been really really fortunate to be. Caroline's this kind of patron to a source she is the most wonderful and gracious and generous of curators one of the most generous people I've I've worked with and the look out when the reasons why I and many of the artists who work here really enjoy the space is that it's free it's free to everyone who comes to look at the work and the best thing is that it's accessible to lots of people who would not normally go to galleries and museums for whatever reason and But here they. We have courage them to step over the threshold and as in tonight they won't even need to step over a threshold it can stand on the beach and look at the play list of films that we've brought together for tonight tell me about you've done some on this day in mind where do you start life in living in the universe where I My interest is in people and what people feel about life now is very much about the now and so one of my works is called unique in the universe which is just about people's identifying people by their eyes only and you see from their expression what sort of people they are what they're thinking and that was commissioned for for for the look out and the other films that were showing some of them have a lot to do with the beach they were filmed they were they were originated and filmed on the beach so there's a very strong geographical connection and they celebrate what it's like to be on this beach yeah you can take it as make as little or as big as you want the law is I think I as like how do eyes just say so much that they're phenomenal and well they are and what my particular point about the work that I've made is is that I've connected people who are some of them a very famous some of them are not known at all but they may be local people and maybe international people and they're all together in one film and you know already who they are only by their eyes and the expression in their eyes tell me a bit about you and the way Well I'm originally from New York City lived in London and now I'm based in Suffolk very pleased to be so and my work is compassed very large festivals and events in London and around the world and my husband Michael who's also an artist we moved up here a couple of years ago to really focus on our own artwork and Suffolk is a place it's full of the most fantastic talent and opportunities to show our work there are phenomenal numbers of artists I think we might we when we were out the other day we kept bumping into people who will have to meit's I guess. Someone else will listen we're afraid we want you out or much you out already so Caroline we had a little teaser so people can come into the look at through the day and say this but tonight we can stand on the beach and actually do you can stand really just fall back to the sea to the sea looking at the look out and then we have got a projector screen so we got you can see the most amazing films on the back of the look out there at the top of the Lookout we've got yet more excitement happening we've got another projection for the side of the look out so there's so much happening tonight is going to be really really exciting which you're going to see from all around on the beach here bring your chairs and have a picnic and just look around Yeah have a good carnival diary Thank you I think going to be a great day. So loads Still to come here and the skies clouds and I for a while but the sun is out again you have the jumper off and off been absolutely fantastic and the procession has made its way away from the moon which is where we are part and I gather does it come back here again then is it does yes of turn round on the end of the town and come back all of them so so so far how did you write that. Brilliant we're all very pleased indeed the weather was perfect the crowd he's very strong indeed and they've joined in and there's a lot more to come yet we've got a whole evening's program a lantern procession. And extra special for a display. Extra special Oh yes yes we have a problem last year with it but this year we've brought twice as much as we would have had last us a real tree stuff in there with that front that you did look at to see to see those follow as well in the procession was amazing wasn't about it just kept going and going and going and the amount of effort and time that people have put into to this is quite stunning isn't it yeah and it's raise money is well done so here isn't just for fun very much because with this is why fund raising is so important because when we paid all the bills we like to have a bit of a sub plus to help local good courses and then the well for next day prayers and thoughts Yes Yes You know cried Rodd one day off one day off all for day. Which is your favorite place of the whole weekend something I must come and see is because you have the x. Rays you had a boat that carried the sea had it's right that's right and we have Doc races on the pond as well but there's a that's another children's favorite. There's so many things but that's what we're trying to do we cater for all ages and tastes so very hotly contested sack race this morning in a war yes yes about the swimming races in the say at one point yeah that's right and that is on a nice story back from the regatta days and we deliberately keep it. Because . This sort of event chiefly as a regatta as you all very well know started way way in the 19th century I think and I think you've done so well to keep it really traditional and it's been I've been really privileged to be here part of it as well and you're really chuffed with the response to the full comparison to Yes Very much so. Having lunch I was talking to them and they said that's the best recession they've had very very long time everyone's. Time everyone stood up for them is yes I tried 8 in the in the white line hotel and as they came in they all stood up and unexplored it really well thank you very much do you looked after us one wonderfully today's kept us fed and watered as well as my pleasure it's all very special we've been privileged to be here Keith thank you very much sadly in the studio Tamara Oh it be nice for rest I think it's been a long long day but a very busy time I'll be back with the bright and early tomorrow in place of Luke somebody because it is calm and you have to Stephen Foster. Thank you very much indeed Sir Leslie broadcasting from the Carnival all afternoon great to hear that Stephen Foster here for drive time between now and 7 o'clock I am studio bound I was let out on Friday but they've got me back in again for Monday strifes on welcome a long. Day and d. a D. And 3 d. General 7 c. .
