Will have the equipment they need to stay safe and urge the sentencing council which sets guidelines for courts in England and Wales to review the penalties for those who attack officers London's weather mostly cloudy today some rain or drizzle at times and feeling quite a bit cooler with top temperatures of 15 Celsius 59 Fahrenheit B.B.C. Radio London it's 4 minutes past 6. On Digital Radio 94.9 F.M. And on B.B.C. Sounds this is London this is B.B.C. Radio London Patry Hoskins. And a very good morning to this is B.B.C. Radio London and it is Petrie here with you and till 7 o'clock this Monday the 9th of September and of course the Knesset will be here with a breakfast show what if you've been listening through the morning you will already know that more than 100 firefighters have been called out to a fire at a 4 storey block of flats in was to park now a fire broke out just before half past 1 this morning and the 1st news we had from the scene was a call to Richard who was there earlier this morning well I think the beginning of the answers to what we've seen in the Hamptons. They all go I rang James completely round the perimeter all the way up sure why they saw it's like blue lights everywhere it's completely cut it more like you know knocking saying it the clouds up the buildings. And he was talking that to Jim De this earlier on when our reporter Greg McKenzie is at the scene and has just spoken to Darren who lives in the block with his family I just woke up to the sound of sort of crackling went through my back door open the curtains saw the flames called most often a family out and I was about off one I suppose and yeah we've been out since then we have set up in the lodge over there so that's trying to further investigate I suppose I mean the block behind there's not much left how you feeling oh you must be in shock. To be honest with your feels like it's a dream but I know it's not. I'm just thankful we got family out all of us out of everyone safe whatever's in there were 3 just get back some are some way by. So long as we say 1st now fire safety was there sprinklers is there an alarm that went off we had a fire alarm not you know actual flat in the communal areas there was. And along the way so. As far as the fire was looked like it was on the balcony so it wasn't actually in the prophecies that's why the alarms didn't sort of sound. Where we gone since they moved on this morning this morning we are like I said we set up in the sort of talks our large area with sort of food and drinks are supplied and let's just try safe warm area for now must be about probably a 100 people if that I think it's because they evacuated the one next to it as well so there's $23.00 factor now on and then the one next to the one opposite got evacuated as well so it's quite a few people in there. And there was a Darrin lives in the block talking there to Greg Greg joins me now interesting eyewitness report there from Darrin Greg is suggesting that the fire was outside the building Well that's what he said Petrie good morning so the fire is still raging here this morning in which to park now the fire brigade have been here since 130 this morning Now 125 firefighters are at the scene many crews are from neighboring Barra's Kingston New Malden and a few of those Now fortunately they've said they managed to get everybody out of the building so it's about 30 flat said you heard from Darren there he said there's about $100.00 people currently in the temporary accommodation running by the Salvation Army are helping people feeding people giving them blankets and whatnot so this morning the smoke still billowing Which into an hour ago is still billowing here and there's not much left as daylight now starts to begin it's not much left at the building self so the fire brigade are here and have been for the last few hours and I have been speaking to them earlier and here is Rick he's heading up the investigation this morning far crews were called I Want 27 this morning to report so far in a flat and shop when one was to park on arrival crews are faced with a very developed and intense farm which resulted in the instant being quickly escalated for additional foreign sions currently the London Fire Brigade have 24 hour engines $125.00 officers on scene. Dealing with the far they're also surrounding far crews from sorry Farm Rescue Service which supports in the London Fire Brigade at this instant. At this time there are no reports of any injuries on the London Fire Brigade are working closely with our partners in the Metropolitan Police Service and London and once a voice to show sufficient support and welfare is being delivered to the displaced residents who are currently in a stop a stress into the line of fire brigade expect to be in for a number of hours and will be working throughout the day people have been advised to avoid the area and close their windows in the event of any smart travel the cause of the far is under investigation is time on the line the father's received $29999.00 calls to this instant. So the people calling in this morning Petrie lots of residents lots of locals they called in about 29 calls you just heard it there from the fire chief he said they had 29 calls to 999 so I mean again you can just see now the front of the building it was what was a white building is completely blackened and the smoke is still billowing out from the top of the building Now one witness that I spoke to the Smalling said that he believed there was some sort of cladding on the outside of the building I mean speaking to them he said his sister managed to get out of the block of flats at 130 this morning here they are. Completely short my sister lives on the 3rd floor. And she got out she go out she has a son but. He's not in granddad so he was and it was a good things about 35. Kids in there as well so yes there's plenty of people. Not so full well woke up about 10 past 3 Texan. We just rushed right down but yeah it's awful to see. By far there's no injuries so that's one good thing for me in quite a shock really just to come and see this you see is lights up in the sky we were driving around we could see the smoke we were just so intrigued as to what was going on had to come by I found out it was going on for 3 and a half hours and I just saw some more being added to the roof of the buildings so absolutely unbelievable to be honest. And I'm just shocked this morning Petrie they've come out there walking their dogs and looking you can hear the building actually falling apart just then it's like a piece of chunk of it is just fall into the ground and we're talking 4 stories here so we just. It just fortunate they got everybody out said that time in the morning most people if not all would have been sleeping Petry interesting there as well from eyewitness inside our. Lived in the block saying that he it appeared that what woke him up was the sound of fire not a fire and I guess the sound of crackling is what he said to me and basically he was stood here and I spoke to him for about 5 minutes Petrie he's got it he said his 2 children his 2 boys one of them was restless and that's why he couldn't sleep and he said to me literally he saved my life. Of course everything destroyed in the fire devastating for the residents that it's gone Petrie the building is just blackened with a 4 story building now it's been reduced to about 2 stories now and it's getting brighter down here so you can really just see the death of them in the back of it just looks like a skeleton of kind of Metz who won in all sorts quite dramatic and the fire brigade have advised people to keep their windows closed and they're telling people to avoid the area the police rightly hear now and I've just been told a couple of film crews can get pay where we are we're quite fortunate that we've been here since I've been here since 430 reporting on this fire so we're in quite good position in terms of what's going on here. Just just finally it still ablaze or is it now just. It's been on fire since one morning so you know this is going to take some time the fire brigade have said they're going to be here all day if not all week and that to determine the cause of the fire is just too soon they need to contain it it's still billowing out. That thick the smoke and the wind going kind of southward so it's not coming towards us but the police are now here preventing people from getting anywhere near this fire and keep it contained to keep people safe and 23 flats within that particular building as we heard. The next door building has been evacuated as well just write fast right so that the next building it's about 500 meters away so it's not like the fire can spread there but it's the smoke thick black and white smoke that is going into those houses and it's covering the entire block so you can see it's serious it's just. On the drive down here you know I saw it from least half a mile away and that was dark at night time it was pitch black in the sky but you could just see this white smoke billowing out where the fire brigade are going to be here for the rest of the $125.00 firefighters in. Different different ends of the building in fact one end of the building is completely gone gutted absolutely nothing left so the residents are now holed up in a community center just behind us it's about 200 meters it's kind of through the trees in a park area this is called the Hamptons so it kind of replicates what happens looks like in America so ultimately they've been safe there in getting coffee and sleeping bags blankets and whatnot and I guess the Council will now be down here to put them in temporary accommodation because technically they're homeless. At the scene. Very much indeed in our hearts can put out to those people who've lost absolutely everything but at least we've had no reports of any injuries. And that's what we know so far there's been no reports of any injuries as. Anything else can be replaced but still. Find out if. Affected your travel and traffic this morning. Let's concentrate then. Just look at the speed sensors. It's just by the Hamptons as McKenzie just pointed out not really affecting traffic actually it's all looking OK around the old Morton and sponsors just southwest Ponce of course the the the Hansens but we'll keep checking those be census for you and of course the cameras and the 3 not too far not too far from there in other travel news in fact on the M 3 we have news for that one to close off from Junction $3.00 to $25.00 towards junction 2 that's after a vehicle caught fire so they merge works and lane closures likely to remain in place for this morning's rush hour. Just outside Heathrow a 30 close off between the Astros hospital crossroads and the clock on the bounce that was after that last night so the southwestern side of the roundabout and the strange road approach are actually closed the bus routes 116 and 26 on diversion and intends me. Closer from both directions for a section that's due to that that happens just after midnight last night if you head into the tubes we have the central part suspended between Woodford and the engineers fix a track that. Trains. BE A flights this is making the news this morning a flight to Heathrow and Gatwick are severely disrupted because of the pilot strike action in fact there are barely any flights operating today from what we can see on the boards this morning Bill Sheldrake travel more for you just after 630. This is London So what is it you'll find in these doctors to discuss this. Yes. You can see through fake. That's what I thought this was but it turns out to be a true story what do you make of it what weekday mornings from 7 if you were able to see 60. Things that I'm clearly doing this all in separate 14 are using this in the same time while the fleecing them to win I mean rounding them up and getting me to the B.B.C. Radio London breakfast with Vanessa Feltz weekday mornings from 7. Yes indeed of an essay will be with you just after the news at 7 o'clock this morning we will of course keep you abreast of any further information that we received from the fire we have our reporter Greg Mackenzie down at the scene was to park at an area called known as the Hamptons and he's there now and will update us through the morning and continue to do so through the Nessus programs there's no need to go anywhere else if you want information on that fire and if you're somebody who lives locally or knows what's going on there as well extra eyes and ears can never be misc and so do give us a call is your radio station is your conversations or please to pick up the phone I wondered 731-2000 if you things have been on that it won't cost you a penny and we call you back and. We've been talking about what's going on in Parliament today the things in the diary of that Ben's law Hillary Benz law about asking for an extension to of the year for Braggs it will go for Royal Assent today likely to be signed off by the Queen all new laws have to be in that way so that's likely to happen today also today Boris Johnson who's in Dublin at the moment his due to be in the Commons to face yet another vote on whether there should be a general election or not. Widely suspected because many people in the opposition benches that they will not vote for it they will not support Johnson's plan so that is likely to be denied him and then of course we've got the probing of Parliament which could happen any time between. Tomorrow and Thursday since expansion of parliament and there will be many more shenanigans between now and then anyway but that's a diary for today Ruben as called in a bouncer about what's going on Good Morning Ray Ben good morning lovely pressuring was very nice way to start the conversation. Is Boris Johnson lovely is Parliament lovely. First of all Patrick you know. Recent Patrick governor and I get the impression he doesn't like this country very much this is one of the greatest democracies in the world and he doesn't like it people are actually putting their lives on the line to actually get to this country and this guy every single subject he put his country down and turning away from that's I don't think that's our especially our recent remarks Yes sir I don't I'm not sure I find I don't find him as negative as you do about about Britain that was you always negative about this country is never anything positive he says about you know he doesn't believe in leaving the the is. Your next time he comes on asking me happy votes. I guarantee you doesn't vote where he's got some of my life does against this country does what he certainly size it in in the referendum. He declares himself as such but I look I think just because he says he doesn't believe the crashing of the year is going to be good hearted idea that the world is not country to him hating Britain Patrick yet that is the word now the doctor the one that had this little scrap. Yeah I would have listened to everything he said until he said Christian out right to look through law to look true to people that have no democracy in their blood whatsoever now cause I'm concerned the rule was broken and you call it what I would call it yeah I would call it Tyria OK so you would refer to as just leaving without Dale Petrie too many predictions you know they want the government to actually comment on their predictions how are we to consider that the wealthy is this article 50 was triggered by broke that rule the 2 withdrawal agreement on the 29th of March they broke down his parliament they broke 2 laws now they've made up their own rule and which actually hasn't been 24 by the queen and there are it is like a money to comment on something that has an apple which really they broke What laws did they break because there was no the the referendum wasn't legally binding it was advisory so they didn't break any law by changing the the leave date something can't be advisory when you put something into place because of that referendum but I'm saying that article they didn't break the law when they take it out to 50. Article 50 Petry actually triggers off a withdrawal date yet so the 2 to the 2. A combine to get combined together but they want to limit it is no Lol there's no lol That has been that has been broken by the delay of breaks and there's no law that will be broken if the law is changed which is the whole point of Ben's little pens thing there won't be it won't be really it's not a legal issue but endure. But then this law is a read as a joke that man would stay and talk for 2 weeks nonstop in Parliament he's just a waste of time always trying to do it once was to remind these people want us to run I don't know why they keep me lying to everybody OK And the thing is Petrie was very you know it's not about Boris Johnson It's not about the individual it's about our democracy people of voted to leave now I don't want to hear anything more about question and always predictions and all that we. So you don't really. Want but we are meant to if we were a democracy and you give people free to feel parliament had the power but I gave the power to wash. In that refrain them. That is why I thought well a lot of people would agree with you Rubin wholeheartedly absolutely they would agree with you that and there will be little faith left in democracy if they don't so we'll wait and see what happens this week but really in brilliant goals thank you very much indeed in the meantime people from working class backgrounds should be better protected in the workplace that's according to the trade unions Congress that calling for a new anti discrimination law and stronger workplace rights as they say unfair barriers at work still exist will it speak to Capetown as head of economics and social affairs at the T You see Good morning Kate good morning so what barriers are people from working class backgrounds actually facing Well we're still saying prejudice still holding to many people back in the workplace and we've got new research out day sharing that graduates from wealthier backgrounds are more than twice as likely to star on in the highest paying job site jumps over 30 grand a year than people class background and that prejudice can take many forms it might be around you know who gets from ice in the workplace it might be around people seen some of that saying you know it's about talking about going on skiing trips is the kind of thing that helps you get ahead at work but we think it's gone on too long and it has to stop so we're talking about an old boy in here I think often this is about 0 point but you know the ways that prejudice takes place can be pretty subtle so it can be about why you speak in an interview about where you're from it can be about the kind of assumptions about the person you are just because kind of who you know when the kind of experiences you've had growing up but we deny this makes actual real concrete difference to people's. A Some research shows that people have more class background even when they're in a professional job on average 17 percent less and that works out as 8 grand a year less than paper from a more wealthy background and is this is also attached to gender or is this literally just working class or they say the sections of if you're a woman working class yet or worse that's exactly right so if you're a woman working class you're likely to be even lower but we think you are protected against gender discrimination in the workplace but you're not just protected against that sort of discrimination that takes place on the basis of your background that's what we're calling for change I mean what my understanding as well is that people from wealthier backgrounds can afford to go and do free days at work things like that or they've got somebody who can get them into a company and and and spend a week or 2 they're getting experience is that also part of the issue absolutely things like unpaid internships unfortunately tame any that actually goes to say oh you know the way you get ahead you can afford to go live in and work for free for a few weeks you know in a company. You know that's the way to get your foot in the door and of course if you're from a less wealthy background you just can't afford that and is there assumption along accents you mentioned about the way you talk Surely that's up to the company especially if the customer facing if they want a particular image. I want to show I mean you know most jobs require you to get on with people from kind of all types of backgrounds all types of people I think it can be OK to say you know you can't do this job because of the way you speak. Really I mean what if it was a car I don't now I can't think of anything that would justify it but there might be a company says no I don't I don't want any I don't know them voices I just want them voices I think it can really help to like you know that kind of idea about you just don't fit here is the looks of discrimination we've seen in the past you know the idea that your face it doesn't fair is what's kind of behind to what used to justify a lot of racism a lot of sexism I think here we can say what it's like a because it's you know a north south thing more you know a kind of push not push things suddenly All right. I've never pushed but looking I see that I could thank you very much indeed Kate bell that talking about people from working class backgrounds should be better protected in the workplace that's according to the T C look at another case now to find out what's going on you push very. Very very. Very you know it's not my voice sometimes pretends that I am nowhere as rough as but it's only really like a concert. Rougher than everyone anyway yes the weather today is rather Kalyan gray out there this morning is not are not very pleasant after a lovely September day yesterday today as well the gray we've got outbreaks of rain some of those could be quite heavy and then break out the south today but all in all it's damp and cold the temperature today is below average the average for September in London's around 20 today 15. I know that's properly Oh that's that's a little bit of a turn for the worse but my hating on me anyway. I haven't although I was really cold yesterday and I really would just raise you know any September is November in our house otherwise I get slapped Yeah anyway i'm 15 southeast today then I have a night that front will clear is probably going to be rather cloudy overnight but if you get. Any breaks in the cloud particularly out towards the time counties probably might get a bit of mistiness 7 se the middle of the tomorrow which of high pressure builds in squeezes out all that anything like the cloud of bright Will gets on the swells and as a result the temperature average 20 Celsius and it's actually going to get hit with this week really humid for Wednesday the wind will start to pick up and that's kind of worried not choosing to was a winds pick up and that's the remnants of Dorian That's all we're getting is nothing to dramatic at all which is a bit breezy a 9 X. Storm Gabrielle Gabrielle I think on Thursday brings in some really humid air from the south so actually the temperatures going to get a bit stay here for from Thursday as around 2324 Celsius of those days I just very very quickly and yes reading in the papers today that the winter is going to be the worst winter we've ever I don't comment a lot. So we got the beast from the east again I'll have like I'll have a look have a little have a look I want to live i want to try to go on today and that I think about once just so you'd like to know is in the papers kind of cake inside of that bringing us up to date with the weather now though it is $636.00 times being out today with the latest news headlines your travel and traffic and you're still starting with those headlines and Matthew Schofield. Good morning more than 20 families have lost their homes overnight following a major fire at a block of flats in southwest London the fire brigade was called to the building and was to park just before 130 and 125 firefighters are at the scene tackling as the Ambulance Service says it's on standby but no injuries have been reported the government will ask M.P.'s to agree to a snap election later for the 2nd time before parliament is suspended for 5 weeks Downing Street has called it Labor's last chance to secure an early election but Boris Johnson is expected to be defeated again because opposition parties say they'll only back an election once or No Deal BRACKS It is formally off the table. Continuing on to keep you informed about that fire and wish to park a block of 23 flights with being told a blaze from about 130 this morning the the fire brigade had 29 phone calls to them at about 130 this morning that talking about the plays the ambulances that there we've got ambulances are there but they're not treated anyone but they're staying there as a precaution 20 fire engines and some 125 firefighters sent to the scene in way to park and. Area known as the Hamptons as New England style wooden cladding it appears that everybody got out safely as. A community center open now with the Salvation Army in attendance but the building has been entirely gutted and the last time we spoke to Greg which was about 20 minutes or so ago it was still a blaze the fire fight says still tackling this blaze but it is completely gutted and Greg was saying as the as the sun comes up across London it's the back of the building it is where it's believed the fire started. Is like a skeleton and all you can hear is parts of the building collapsing a 4 story building of 23 apartments so there be more information coming through on that this morning right here on B.B.C. Radio London including all of the issues that you might have with driving around in that area and advice that if you live in that area if you're listening and you live close to the area to keep your windows closed today because of smoke that may be pouring off that building more information as we go through the morning this morning but now. Johnson as we've been talking about as well this morning will make another attempt to call a general election later today but the move is again expected to be rejected by the Commons opposition M.P.'s want to ensure that a law authorizing an extension to Britain's departure from the European Union is approved fast as reported the prime minister is preparing to ignore the decision or at least find a workaround which would see the U.K. Leaving without a deal at the end of the month or former Justice Secretary David Gold one of $21.00 Conservative M.P.'s now suspended by the party says that that would be improper call. That in the prime minister just defined a lot I am concerned however the government seems to be allowing some ambiguity and it should be perfect straightforward for all ministers to say we believe. The lot David Cook their former justice secretary said the will remove from him is one of the $21.00 Conservative M.P.'s suspended was sudden and shame and pay Paul Scally who is deputy chair of the party insists that the prime minister is still hopeful of securing a deal at the next E.U. Summit but he says it's right that the government looks at the legal implications there's no sense that he's going to break the law or that the rule of law is there and he said that we are going to stick to that but it's a responsible government to actually look at exactly the wording instead and to test that. Poulos county that President Prime Minister today is in Dublin meeting the Irish Prime Minister Leo Veronica for talks on the Irish backstop so a lot going on today for the PM Let's discuss all of this with Cindy you who's a political reporter at the Spectator magazine and good morning Cindi morning so another full day for the prime minister currently in Dublin trying to find a solution last minute solution it would seem to the backstop Yeah yeah but a vertical this morning was saying that actually we're not expecting a huge breakthrough today. There's a lot of expectation management that. Well we haven't managed to find one in 3 years so the the idea that we could find one in in the last sort of 52 days yes this shit is cheap but I mean that there is some glimmer of hope I mean notwithstanding the piece actually saying you know we're going to have an extension regardless the might not give us a deal or 2 but notwithstanding that there is a glimmer of hope that over the weekend Neeraj can sense that if that was in their view it's in Northern Ireland and it would have to put up with. The question why if you're going to have to do that in a NATO brags it why don't you just put up some semblance of that in a do you say this is this is always be my horse Johnson's point doesn't it that actually yes I am asked leaving the E.U. Is it is actually the Republican violence problem no absolutely says it will see how today's meeting gays I think is the 1st time they've met physically since Boris Johnson came to government they've talked in the famous well but that gave her well and I think Boris Johnson today will say again with the author of the. Island of Ireland in which we see. North Nile and would follow some E.U. Rules on regulations say that would that might so so on agriculture and food on agriculture of food which is the bulk of Northern Ireland to me said that should be helpful. If that is acceptable to you and but came to the T.V. Let's have a look at the either because according to some newspapers the E.U. Saying no they will not give an extension of stray months unless there is to be a referendum or a general election but they have said this before yes I mean I've said this before and I think. The reports this week and it's coming from the French foreign minister and the French have been historically you know was what grumpy. So yes they they they've they've historically had a hostile is the reason we have not to have a 31st deadline is because of macro rather than the. Longer one so I mean I'm not sure how much we can start we can put into that when push comes to shove. 17 eighteenth's if we could really ask an extension saying we don't want to date you I don't think that you will want to be seen as the person as the party that triggers the Nady you when Britain goes begging for one. Extension says I think I think we should set it I would. So The Times this morning leading with Johnson in retreat over delay to Bragg's it because they believe that his assurances that he will abide by the law is a sign that he's retreating However we're hearing that he might have a few tricks up his sleeve not least to write an OS for an extension which would be the law and then write another letter straight after his saying only joking we don't want to mention which should also be within the law or so he's not done yet Yeah I mean as the 71 I'm a tense thinking and the mitten has definitely pushed the legal boundaries of what is possible in this country so far in there with our gaze and is a conventional but it's legal say that legally he will be looking at this right now . And I reckon this sort of climb down saying that. They respect the law isn't actually that much of a crime they were just sort of keeping open the eye. Awfully polls over the weekend and now perhaps they found something that means if they have to break the law and those are politically you've got to think about the remaining cabinet ministers who might be following and the rods way if the government really flouts the rule of law like people like Robert Buckley in the justice sexually Jeffrey Cox the attorney general I mean be ridiculous for him to stay in government that were students on the illegal but the question will be what exactly that thing will be would it be illegal if it's a loophole I mean it would still be like well it would just be morally questionable . Exactly what I think is there is an area that this government is probably quite comfortable in but at the same time you know it might be a cause for courts to dispute that but by that point maybe you'll be already be out of the New Deal. In the least it means we'll get to speak to each other again which I'm thrilled about this I thank you so much for joining me this morning Cindy their political reporter at Spectator magazine there's no sign of any and to any politics as it was there really except with the suspension of Parliament which could happen any time between Maher and Thursday maybe things have quietened down but I suspect not that you're listening to B.B.C. A text from Karen who says pays Brosnan is the best Bond ever. What his sophisticated suave is just super The what US bond is Daniel Craig have you lost your mind in regards to whether bone should be a female they should start a female character of their own I think it's because they can't be bothered to start from the bottom that rather launch off the long illustrious time reputation of the current franchise create a new female spine that's what Karen says But Karen I mean I have to I have to question whether you. Really pays postman the best ball and just goes to show it isn't that we all have our own different bones that we believe all the best but Pierce Brosnan would not be on my next just same as them but he is on us. Worst Bond Craig. As for me a text to tell me who best to worst because we're talking about Pierce Brosnan saying this morning that they should move over and let a woman be Bond. 17312000 texts a one trip with 3 put the word London up front comes through to me in the studio. But in the mean time how many British women do you think fly commercial aircraft when I tell you it's only 4 percent of pilots in the U.K. And less than 10 percent of women and the rest of Europe actually work in the engineering profession which to any new initiative from a Virgin Atlantic and Bobby Yep is being set up to tackle gender stereotypes in the aviation and engineering industry let's talk to Alice Goodwin is a recent graduate in aerospace engineering who's helping with the initiative Good morning Alice Good morning and. Good morning why why Bobby what was going on. Have teamed up with Target for you can buy them about but not learn to. Work with Bobby because Logan 5 year old play with one of the most popular 5 year old. Role models we have an on going to a pilot and a crime occurred all right OK So Barbie seems to be the answer to everything at the moment I mean we're going to be out but what about if you're not a girl who plays with Barbies I didn't play with Barbies I was quite a tomboy I was on about you know not all girls girly girls who play with with Barbies are you going to be reaching as many as you'd like to. Try and start not. Many. Were planning on going to screw. Things going on we. Could reveal that we couldn't really. Normally we're more involved. This is a group called going on I don't know how else this question is it's kind of is a patronize ing in sexist to use adult in the 1st place. Could. Be. A coup. De what we were behind it. But really different because if Bob you were a real woman she wouldn't have to stand up so you literally could not stand. That she was an actual woman and she paid out 7 foot tall as something to kill us so you really are going to change. To being more realistic a little cabin crew more class. And we really can be represented because of a more the scene obviously about. Batman coming out. That I was. Clear in my the course. You are not female Yeah. About from that moment where you know maybe some young people you have never been part of when you know a pilot. At something anything and it's about one of the many people. Who will I can be a pilot I can be an engineer. But I mean what about once your in the industry I know you've just graduated but what's it like in the end I mean is it an old boy's club does it feel like you know the men and not going to be very nice choose your female partner or a female engineer or you might be teased Will you mind. Is there a culture of that in the engineering area or space industry. See it's not been like that Koko everything we clutch waited to hear him for most more long haul Yeah like what for those that he is now I'm a girl and I got the game and I've never ever felt like he just felt just like London area I'm another and I come in and I'm supposed to be in my way and I've honestly never even the most egregious Well nothing nothing like that if you're a person that with your job and to the best of your ability so there are no bounds really to figuring women to go into into engineering but why do you think if you want to. I think is that particular clue about young age try there are enough role models or at least the parties are about your marriage being what you think the less. Well Bobbie of cover identifies the thing called the Dream Gap from age 5 that young girls are already thinking that they're not as smart as their male counterparts and because of that immediately counselor can barely get the difficulty to raise the. Pilot paying an engineer and deal with trying to deal with just former age wise we're actually you can do well it's all about self covers when I get a movie people role models show you they really can run my mouth while most so you know you're going around at the moment in schools as well when will you actually DO YOU EVER space engineering. I thought of going to. The end of September but we're already the pilot already so intimate with that experience is well with us you know we can go into our job and also I will make sure that we've got the voice calls and calls and many people coming in corporate populace could be a friend of enjoy. Your club and they are you having to be a point that. You know I'm currently. Preparing for. A brilliant write off is false well listen it's good to talk to you this morning thank you very much indeed I guess anything that encourages young women that they can do anything is a good thing for you go get a career in aerospace engineering Bob is going to help you. That's it from me for today to make a bond. That's it for me for today they're back with you tomorrow between 4 and 7 whatever you're doing today have a wonderful day and stay right where you are right now because the NESA is next. To London there is plenty going on on the road let's go through this then the nth 3 . We've got so lanes wanted to close of towards trying to 5 as you coming in from the. Section from Junction 3 it's because of resurfacing works after a vehicle called Fire. Again into town to close off repairs to the central reservation from juncture to back to junction one of the M $25.00 to park. Close off because of the fire which just destroyed a block of flats more from this from Matthew in just a seconds traffic and minimal impact at the moment on the A 24. Hour for that fix smoke though because it might distract you if you are in the car the moment a 30 close. For the crossroads and the clock cars run about so it's that section of the road asked for them back font and that's because of that last night. Blackheath now with a long queue into town the Kubrick Park Road that's heading towards the sun in the sand roundabout delays from the dance and to change being we au-Prince after a rolling roadblock was a put in before traffic was released for the Central Line parts suspended. The engineers fix the track at depth and we've got severe delays on the Piccadilly Line action times Oxbridge because of a signal failure. Or have severe delays. Due to customer incidents be a flight sick Heathrow and Gatwick are severely disrupted because of the pilot strike impact barely any flights operating today at those 2 airports. And travel updating . 15 minutes more than $105.00. Through the night. To the block of flats in. There we'll have more news. On. B.B.C. Or working closely with our partners in the Metropolitan Police Service. To show that sufficient support. Is being delivered to the displaced residents who are currently. The brigade says it expects crews to remain at the scene for most of the day Darren lived in the block in show I just woke up to this sort of sort of crackling went to my back door open the curtains saw the flames the family are devices here feels like it's a 2. But I know it's not I'm just thankful we got the family out all of us out of everyone safe whatever is in there left or just get back some are some way but as long as we're safe 1st or get the very latest from the scene in Worcester Park next on the bridge to show with Vanessa Boris Johnson will try again today to get M.P.'s to support a snap election but once again they're expected to reject it opposition parties want to ensure that a law forcing the prime minister to seek another delay to Bret's it is a proof 1st it's reported that Mr Johnson is willing to ignore that law meaning the U.K. Could leave the E.U. Without a deal but the former Justice Secretary David Gold one of $21.00 Tory M.P. Suspended by the party for voting against the government over the issue says that would be improper it currently is. That even the prime minister would just decide little I am concerned however the government seems to be allowing some ambiguity and it should be per straight full for all ministers to say we believe in the political battle witnesses to an incident in Signum in which a man in his twenty's died from gunshot wounds claimed he was planning to shoot someone else but ended up accidentally killing himself Scotland Yard hasn't confirmed that it happened in Sydney Road yesterday afternoon no one's been arrested Meanwhile a 16 year old boy is due in court in Stratford accused of murdering 18 year old son Tino dimeter who was stabbed to death in plaster almost a fortnight ago British Airways pilots have begun a 2 day strike in a dispute about pay and conditions virtually every be a flight at Heathrow and Gatwick has been cancelled today with passengers either rebooked or offered refunds the travel writer Simon Calder says the strike will be very costly for the airline 75 to 18000000 pounds in lost revenue over the 2 days of the strike at a few flight either side on top of vacuum got the extra costs involved everything from extra hotels for passengers who were stranded through to the cost of parking $7.00 Jumbo get to New York J.F.K. For example will be a says it understands the frustration and disruption of the strike action is causing and it remains ready and willing to return to talks with the pilots union but it had no option but to cancel nearly 100 percent of its flights ministers are being urged to repair the government's relationship with the police as the B.B.C.'s Danny shore explains the home secretary pretty Patel will deliver her 1st big speech later since her appointment at the police superintendent's associations annual conference relations between the police and the government deteriorated sharply went to reason May was at the Home Office.
