For the rest of the week so it triples my weekly costs I mean it's frustrating but I kind of also understand a little bit removing dogs in the trains is it's a big step and people are scared to change potentially losing their jobs so I can kind of imagine the worry but it's also like why we put in the middle of it a black hole mom with an aggressive form of m.s. Says undertaking a stem cell treatment has changed her life it was 5 years ago that Rima Sandy was diagnosed with a condition she says some people have been lucky enough to have the treatment early in their condition and then later like they've never had a rest because they never really had it in the 1st place for long enough to develop any real symptoms so the evidence is all that it works for people and it works for people in different stages of their m.s. Is just a case of having a bit more readily available for people when they are then going to the hips and trialing trucks and getting off the streets to make Maidenhead safer that's not going to be a permanent amnesty been at the town's police station offices decided to install it after consulting with residents banksias whether now tonight will be very cold again and fogie tomorrow frosty with sunny spells highs of 7 degrees 45 Fahrenheit b.b.c. Radio feel kind of a. Taunt right should ensure travel Good luck to all between now and 70 out of the sponsibility handed over to me Phil Canada Day and 3 southbound I was a layman Oh yes I had responded Well that's it right now for 3 southbound is a lame blocked in traffic is slow that's due to a broken down vehicle between junction 2 for the m 25 of course and junctions 3 for back shot like water also very slow in towns and to west junction in Basingstoke heavy in fact and don't forget over cd issues I'm sure you are only a fall under mode in King's Road as you head up to Queens right through some of the junction and the Sutton sees roundabout where it's all sort of down to one lane I'll give you the number in case you want the update school. 101 I for one trust people say. Radio bugs show why I am young guns go for it and yeah I was talking to a member of y.m. . Yes surely as in Pepsi and Shelly the backing singers. And she was on the video of that particular song and some of the props and everything but I was chatting to a last week of course she married a Spandau Ballet So how's that for an eighty's marriage and they've got a new swing album out but while that was good wasn't it young guns go for it 9 minutes past 4 and here we are then we're doing that Monday thing at a new school in charge of the latest on the roads something busy around reading look at the sea of red over the usual spots and the m 25 certainly off the blocks as well around Staines in both directions I'm sure for a quick look at the latest on the trains we do have problems on southwestern railway reduced service across most of the network will be discussing is a little later due to the strike action which is taking up most I mean most of December and there are some problems as well on Great Westerns and cancellations between reading and Red Hill and early a signal problem Woking and so there are some delays there if you're making that journey though to get work or whatever Oh wait oh wait 101041 be really good to hear from you Jenny printer is my guest she'll be talking about starring in a taste of honey in London's West End at the moment it's the National Theatre's latest production and yes one of those fifty's kitchen sink dramas boy she playing a strong resilient woman more on that later but as we saw it last night at the end of the restrict the results yes Christmas is definitely here the b.b.c. Of turn on their lights and it's officially. Arctic the countdown to Christmas is on. Advent calendars and start humming the music but some people put up the trees as well that's a job I'm going to sort out this week but it's important to make sure that you're staying safe of course during the festive season and that's the message from the royal box of Fire Rescue Service they've released their 12 Days of Christmas fire safety advice group managers Chris Holland Chris hello to you Hello Phil hi thanks Ammiano Yeah I 3 good to just a quick look at the tips in a minute but just to say this time of the year is a busy time of the year in general Christmas Well yes we are always busy throughout the year with our mention message trying to stop things happening of course yes sometimes with responding to incidents it sometimes picks up in the dark nights the poor weather and the Christmas festivities distracting people perhaps causing more things going on their life keeping them busy and maybe slightly less attention to the safer side of things that I need to do so yes unfortunately we can be very busy this time of year Ok so that then means there's a look at the state the safety tips and so what are the dozen safety tips which you were suggesting this year yeah Ok so what we've tried to do is pick up some just simple safety advice because often it's just common sense but easily forgotten sometimes when you're busy and we've picked up the 12 Days of Christmas to highlight some things so should I pick out a few for you here don't know if anything is well. I could sing it on my course allow people to switch off on the right for a specified aren't. So I'll go through a couple of source panned out so the 1st one on our list is to make sure that when you're buying electrical equipment that we make sure we've got the British safety standards on it very easy to buy cheaper versions of goods and sometimes they're not so cheap if they don't work quite so well over he came causing flies is something that we're particularly worried about in the fire service especially when you've got so much more of it drawing on the electricity through our. Yes secondly something we talk about a lot I'm afraid it sounds boring but it's particularly important when you've got more risk of fire in your home is to make sure your smoke alarms are fixed to the ceilings in the likes and tested regularly so making sure that they work out is always a thing worth doing personally I like to make kids check for smoke alarms in our house give them something to do and obviously mix and police fire where presumably not for o'clock in the morning that's not a real look in the morning we don't. Always get it once a week so if you can fix it to something that you do maybe every week on a Choose day you go to you know club or maybe before you go you can see smoke alarms something like that maybe like. Another one I like for Christmas time of course is people like to make their houses look very festive unfortunately sometimes that means they leave the electrical stuff on when they go to bed at night and this is something we'd be really keen that people don't do when you're asleep you're less likely to be aware obviously your smoke alarm will hopefully wake you up but it's better if it doesn't need to so we do encourage people to switch off all electrical things before they go to bed at night rather than take any chance I mean of course nothing would happen but yes it would be lovely in the most as possible way if we don't see any members of the royal box or far rescue service turning up our house or so they exactly that is exactly common mistakes made because there are things that strikes me is that this time of the year is the way it is and people like that sort of atmosphere but a lot of candles get lived only yes that oh yes candles very pretty very festive certainly nothing against candles myself as long as they're used safely. People often have a lot more people in their house and a lot more clutter around their house so this is potentially the worst time to have candles in your house where people who don't know they're there don't know the way your house works might knock them over or stuff gets moved around the place too close to the candles candles on window sills is obviously a very bad idea so although we're not saying don't use candles everybody. Camels I'm sure you just have to be that bit more careful to keep them away from children make your pets can not I'm over keep them in safe places in appropriate holders so that should they burn down low should do when to catch them should anything else happen we know they're not going to set fire to anything else in your home. Other common mistakes I mean for example you have a Christmas tree don't you so that's got a little wood in it which is never a good mix once it starts to dry out in the central heating national people like to have real Christmas trees sometimes rather than the fake ones we want to find but do keep them watered over the season as they dry out they become more risk of catching fire so again if your Christmas tree lights are not British standard approved and therefore possibly more likely to overheat or again if you've got candles nearby or the fireplace is close to where you put the Christmas tree as actually drives out it becomes more and more able to catch fire and if it does catch fire and it does very quickly so yes things the way he thinks he tree watered that can help reduce any chance of anything happening just are you working Christmas Day So I am on a flight Lidia Yes obviously were 24 hour service and yes based on my turn on the right of the work it I'll be sure to try to get home to the kids you soon as I possibly can if you can all keep safe will help me do that but. This is why you're doing it so you know your job and thank you very much indeed great manager Chris Holland thank you very much indeed stay safe and have a very happy Christmas as well when it comes around as well that is Chris all in there from the Roebuck the fire and rescue they released their 12 Days of Christmas fire safety advice are you ready and yes. Coming up to 421 we have the latest on the rise of course throughout the evening with a new scam to me a quick look at the cameras around reading the sun is setting actually looking at the $3.00 to $9.00 m. As it sort of looks up if you know reading at all just by certain seas read about if you're looking at the a for long the writing up towards symmetry Junction all traffic coming from symmetry junction cars got their lights on but there's chastity blinding sun it's just going now below. The horizon and sun is setting and it's a lovely December day it's been beautiful but more on that when we do the weather so take it easy later but in the meantime yes we do have the m 25 that's really under way now starting to build up there and also looking quite heavy around 33 children I was down that way 1st thing this morning and it certainly was busy this morning random moves a huge queue and I've no idea why it's one of those moments where something stopped and stayed stopped for a little bit and then a huge cube built up 080-8101 I for one do you just hate it when that happens there is no reason for the q. Just something happens and it just concatenate as they say Oh wait oh wait 101 I for one Well Jerry Perenchio made a name by one of the b.b.c. Talent show it's called I do anything remember that which one of the role in the show as Nancy and Oliver since their career was well and truly blossomed starring in shows like Annie Shirley Valentine Abigail's Party One Man 2 Guvnors ladies who are always out of Helen in the National Theatre production of the fifty's kitchen sink drama a taste of honey and I caught up with Jodie. Several of the roles she plays like it this one in the show she plays strong resilient women I say this is something she's shown Well I suppose across a career that is literally you know resonated from a noun I've always. And it's you can have these things put in your lap and you can go brilliant I've won this program I've done this but there's a great deal of rolling you sleeze upon work and I think that's where I found the most pleasure in doing it is working in these companies and and you know performing in the shows that are in my book at least that I've never thought I'd have the honor of stepping into the shoes of someone like Dollar Bryan and you now and. Yeah I do pinch me thoughtful are I do a do work as hard as I can I do I really do yes I know yeah and the thing is I suppose a lot of people immediately think of you think oh well you know she does all sort of you know a lot into tame and small in the musicals and singing but actually you've been doing some serious acting haven't you yeah. Yeah a lot of people who come to see this go it didn't I didn't think it was you I don't know whether that's a compliment or no but yeah I think it's it's good to strip all of that back I mean she's always this happy all the time I slap myself but when you come out for a day and get to speak to lovely people like you I just can't how we thought Ok fair enough over. All the right things they're. Not actually so when you think about it you know this role of Helen in a taste of honey and then you look at Beverley and had to go as party surely balance I mean they are those sort of resilient women again even though you see there's a theme building there Jodi definitely no wallflowers are my resume are that I don't think I don't go in for an audition for one of the you know it's really lovely I want to tell you about the audition promos you want to shouldn't Well if that was so you know because I always get really nervous when I really really want something and I have to just you know throw my hat off the cast that I'm working with on the Crow They are amazing and they are just exceptional but I was presenting and award at the stage Debbie awards and I presented it to girl called Jem'Hadar percent. We'll go on like a house on fire so lone beheld weeks later we both walked into the National Mall you do know or you didn't hear so we were both in for a taste of an a and we said wouldn't be brilliant if we both got it and we did and it's just great to have that chemistry with somebody and we have the same chemistry threaded throughout the comp and I I just always think that you know comes across on stage I mean we've all been to the shows and you know who's not got in on don't you know. But with those law it's it's an honor to you know be on the West End and work with a company he genuinely put everything into and all and all really like you to that which you have to admit is a route you could sort of side question which is no the audition thing is whatever happens in this business it comes with no you've obviously got to the stage where you deal with that quite well. I do yeah big chocolate bar and going. Wow. That cows are wearing. National. Polls. But. With. The ad. Code. Below. 11. 11. 11. 11. 11. 11. 11 or. Code. every 15 minutes nobody nobody eats now what's going on well that is a broken down bus on the Henley Road just past the mic lines row turning according to Sarah and it's as you're heading towards zoning so look out for a matter that's going to get very very busy as we head towards 5 o'clock and 3 southbound still a little bit slow between junction 2 for the m 25 and junction 3 for back shot in Basingstoke town center Western actions are king really very heavy Barkley avenues of King busy around bass road as you head out of town also the a full London Road in Kings Road as you head up towards Queens Road through Cemetery Junction on the Sutton seat roundabout now it will take you around about 30 minutes to get through there but it keeps fluctuating and I am matter is going to head into the rush hour possibly it's going to get a little bit worse so just be aware of that. And also they fall under road heading towards our town center between the Toby traffic light and the same burn as traffic lights is queuing that to answer Peter's Hill Church Road the a 474 before cabochon bridge that's already looking very heavy as well but if you got any update if you can give me the state of play on what's going on Henley Road with a broken down bus that would be great the number 080-8101 I for one travel you trust from b.b.c. Doco u.k. Slashed. The radio sports but that is wrong yeah reading waiting to find out who they all face in the 3rd round of this season's f.a. Filed to the lowest ranked side left in the competition now the former roars boss Brendan Rodgers says it would be a logical for him to leave Leicester for Arsenal The manager has been asked straight out if he'd be interested in the job at the Emirates that's after the departure of Unite Emery but he says with Leicester flying high in 2nd place in the Premier League he sees no reason to move on here's a question for you fell Yes how many points ahead of Arsenal are Leicester in the table currently quite a few I'd imagine so little to say Leicester a 2nd about 121. Is quite a few pretty sure you've nailed it I think you know Bertie 30 yet less a 2nd Arsenal a 13 point and we're the only team at the moment it could take on liveable our Leicester 8 points behind the moment yeah remarkable isn't it so that of course the news about the former Reading boss Brendan Rodgers in cricket the former England batting coach Mark Ramprakash thinks Captain Joe Root proved a point to himself and his doubters that was in the 2nd Test in New Zealand Ruth hit 226 his 1st set at all just the 226 if he could do more better than that right easy place where you don't know. Or the Radio Times very shortly also keep an eye on the travel. Or the saving I can tell you probably know. In some way shape or form surprised by me saying Southwest the role we've got strike on the moment and that's causing all sorts of problems we do service across the southwestern railway network at the moment. And it's $27.00 days of it across December so it's not to be easy this month between now and 2020 keep us updated the problems on Great Western Railway if you are making that journey to Red Hill from reading it's going to get week then they've sorted out the signal problem working good news but the m 25 certainly busy in reading started really brew up as well I can see out my cameras 080-810-1041. Now time to talk about service you probably have noticed something is happening in the next few days about some of the 12 and to get in the mood to picture has been traveling around our area today it was him putting your questions to the parliamentary candidates who want to represent its town as m.p. Andrew was joined by James Sunderland for the conservatives Paul Bidwell for labor and also they want to say this coal way. For the Liberal Democrats Green Party candidate Derek Florrie decided not to take part in the debate which also included audiotape from the independent candidates Livia but Oh Andrew started by asking the Liberal Democrat for his stance on the responses I'm getting from knocking on the doors is very positive I have come across many Labor and Conservative voters who voted for remain and they want to remain as a part of the European Union and they have told me that they want to be part of this wonderful European Union and they are going to vote for us Secondly there were many people who were age 151617 during their a friend and couldn't vote during the referendum and they are younger 80 percent of them are in favor of staying in the European Union Thirdly there are evidence in Bracknell to show that people might have changed their mind in terms of whether to stay in the European Union or not and that makes me a really really hopeful in terms of winning this city as you know Andrew Paul told you on your stroll on Monday 11th of November that he's going to campaign for leaving the European Union if you go say. Come to Paul in a 2nd. Ok And you know James is a hard core lever so I am the only option for remaining in Bracknell and if for one person even you've gotten the green party candidate well apart from Green Party candidate which I think it is fair to say that I am the main remain candid. I am not disputing that domain candidate is not standing for her main But I think I am doing challenge a nice area well for labor or you for lever or you for my surprise but I don't think it's any secret that I campaigned for a main and and I was an e.u. Champion in the last year period so your main or your campaigning Yes but the play policy is quite clear Labor policy is anything but clear it is quite clear that we will when elected we will negotiate a decent breaks it down not the deal that we have on the table at the moment and then within 6 months we'll put it to the country your campaign against one of those one of those your campaign against it one of those options will be remain your campaign against it will be the brakes and I shall make up my mind then if elected well because I will have to listen to the people of Britain won't I as well but I think you understand that in my heart I remain but it's not just as simple as that why is it not just as simple as that if you believe we're better off remaining in the European Union and we have of the referendum one Earth one you campaign joining debate with the people of Bruckner and then we'll take it from that so you know so you're telling me that if people in battle told you they wanted to leave you would be completely ignore your own opinions on how you would have to debate what you're saying if you won't give us the answer now the polling days next Thursday people want to know correct what why what because there's no debate about it. Right now Ok Ok. That's the issue so seriously people would like to know if they're going to put their cross next to your name what you believe about the most important question facing this country at the moment I say would you do you won't tell us and you say correct I won't tell you I was going to vote for you on that basis I've already said that I'm a remainer Yes but your asking me what I would do if elected and we go to a people's vote and I don't know the answer to that because I don't know what the BRICs it would look like right James Sunderland for the Conservative Party we've been told quite a few times by conservative politicians. If we vote for them they'll deliver bricks it and here you are saying the same stuff all over again our positions are very clear 17400000 people in the biggest democratic mandate ever voted to leave the European Union and that is exactly what we're going to do right but you are not you personally your predecessor told us all that in 2017 We've heard it all before tens of thousands of people in Britain all trusted you to deliver bricks it and you have not done so well we've been pretty clear all the way through what the intent is to leave the European Union and of course Boris Johnson's called the election now supported instantly by Labor and the Lib Dems because that very recent parliament has blocked parliament needs to be sorted we need a new we need a new sweep of the broom which means M.P.'s in Parliament delivering what the people voted in to do it but you've got to engage your my point to some extent you've promised us all this before we were told in 27 team vote for the conservative candidate in Britain all you'd avoid the coalition of chaos and strong and stable government how did that go you know the intense never changed I mean since referendum 2016 clear mandate the Conservative Party's been absolutely clear all the way through blocked only by Labor and the Lib Dems in parliament this is of and members of your own political party like Phillip Leigh was the Bracknell m.p. John Redwood who was the work you meant to be blocked by a lot of conservative politicians as well Well again I think we understand that I think that the nature of the reason base deal had the backstop in it parliament was not going to vote for that Boris Johnson's come in in 120 days he has done something that people said he could never do the backstops now gone and I think the deal that we've got on the table is a pretty good one where James Sunderland of the Conservative Party is the candidate for brac not you can find the full list of candidates standing at b.b.c. Dot dot u.k. Slash election listen back to the full debate on b.b.c. Sound and he is back tomorrow from 7 and he'll be speaking to the parliamentary candidates for reading what. And she would love to hear from you well my next guest has an amazing story Arema son who was 23 and she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and doctors told her the disease was already progressing fast so with blood vision and mobility getting worse she was facing life in a wheelchair and then she found out about stem cell therapy now that's a treatment which is being called a game changer in the medical profession Rima is right now and hello to you Rima I . Said this go back in time and the diagnosis obviously at that stage knew something wasn't right yeah so when the year with I was actually diagnosed I was diagnosed because I had Mom this on the right side of my face and I bent myself against the lamp and I did not feel happened oh my goodness so that immediately sort of rang alarm bells I imagine and what other things when you think about it when I think back yes I think I was always really tired I was always quite fatigued so I always it was always something wrong with me but I never had a reason for what it was or what could have caused it so then what g.p.a. And then there was a moment when you were told what you really had that must have been Wow Well that was then that was I never had to buy left prior to my diagnosis I didn't even know what it was and I don't think I had any expectations of what they were going to find from the scan the love the punches and then when they said and that I was completely tired by it. Once you realized how did you initially cope with that thought because obviously degenerative isn't it yes it is and I think because I had no understanding of what it was a kind of just went into defense like trying to educate myself on what it was and of course when you're killing things you see the west of the West. Never a good feeling to know it set you off into a crazy panic at that point. Ok so let us look at the stem cell therapy given you more you mention the g. Were Google so clearly you were researching this and you obviously at some stage bumped into this Yes So when I saw it googling ways to kind of stockpile math I found that stem cell transplants are high chastity and and at that point I don't think they were doing very much as a whole so when I did kind of offer it wasn't something that was readily available to me so I did have trials and trucks and that Ok so what about the whole stem cell therapy I just explain it because obviously it's quite complicated but actually stem cells are quite remarkable cells omic Yeah they're amazing and so what it basically is is them they both use your own stem cells in your own body almost refect them be introduced into your body and in hype of it almost stopping you and Matthew have heavy doses the chemotherapy you'd have heavy doses of a.t.t. And just completely wipe out your immune system and almost die again effectively So a complete reboot of blood biological Reaper and a stem cell basically is a so as a potential to be anything could be really one it could be a heart whatever it is but also if that's where they stem from literally so they are quite important to know was it really is going to you start to reset your body doesn't effectively effectively Yeah. Looking at the process obviously it's not available on the n.h.s. Why is that. So it's available it's just a very very strict criteria. You have to you have to hit in the face for taking a criteria to be able to be eligible on the n.h.s. I did initially cost you only one. Whereby I was. Thought to be a perfect candidate for outsourcing it didn't work out that way for me. But I do feel like it should be something that people should have readily available because it's one thing so obviously it was a private job so that must have been expensive I imagine very much so I will go ask how much and how the heck did you raise the money it was in the regions of about 70000 pounds Oh my goodness yes so no no as a tiny bit of money it's quite a lot that was probably the scariest part for me having it done privately I was quite fortunate in the sense that I had a lot of support from my siblings my parents and family members and friends and I was brave enough to do a Go Fund Me page and you know you took some savings in you know I had a lot of generosity from people in need strangers and that was quite overwhelming but we managed to have the transplant this year wow and it was here in the u.k. So there are places which are doing this the stirrup Tell me about the treatment so how long is the whole process and so the part is itself I would probably say a couple of months you initially have one dose of chemotherapy and then your injecting to grow your stem cells that Heine to create more of them in your body and then you have your stem cell collection and then you have a 3 week stay in hospital whereby they give you intensive chemotherapy an a.t.g. Completely wipe out your immune system and then reintroduce your new rebooted reset stem cells. My goodness I know so obviously you are vulnerable while you're in that state of no immune system so that's tricky obviously so nobody can go New You have got cold or they like that well yeah they actually lock you in them and I feel a shame. You literally are not allowed near anyone so even you know when you talk doctors are coming in to say they're completely covered in scrubs and you know it's a lot to sanitizing and I lit I didn't leave the room for 3 weeks until my cells were strong enough to at least make a goal to come into contact with the outside of my room so really is quite something you put yourself but now is the thing where we are at the moment how are you feeling and what's it been like since and it's I think in a very low cost I did read quite a lot about it being a very look I fear and I think nothing prepares you for it until you actually go through it and it's been good and I'm I am so grateful I've done it I've I've had a scan and m.r.i. Scan since my transplant and that's my 1st scan since my diagnosis that in stable and every other Scot I've had since well since my 1st ever diagnosis has always shown a Westling of my disease and showing that it's quite aggressive and progressing really fast that is left where they both can and I've had some of my existing sim contemporaries and my blood vision paid my walking is improved and my fatigue come thing goes it's quite what I'm unwell it does flare up my old symptoms which is expected but the whole point of the transplant is to effectively ensure that I hope the progression that prevents it from getting anywhere and what it is well that is quite something you're feeling quite hopeful and very much. Well it's really good news people seem charged because of love to see how you're getting on and Rima Fakih very much your story is where you look after yourself Rima Sunday from Brighton all on stem cell therapy while. Pull big Well the Labor candidate says austerity cuts over the last 10 years are to blame the parents having to wait 4 times as long to get their children with special needs into suitable schools 1600000 pounds has been starved taken away from it as your budgets. And stop a while as well because of course money has been taken away from brutal force Council so searches not working of course with the phone ripple in the needy to take the brunt of that and Labor government verse that James Sunderland standing for the conservatives admits provisions haven't been good enough this is the area of government that caused the most work at the moment I think because kids are being diagnosed there's not much money going at the moment so recognise that and the Conservative government will put more money into that particular provision and .
