Thousands of extra cars and trucks have been flooding onto southern Sydney roads since a new toll was imposed on the M5 East motorway as drivers try to save money.
An extra 7500 vehicles were recorded per day on average at the intersection of Forest and Stoney Creek roads in Bexley after a toll was introduced on the M5 East in mid-2020, government analysis obtained under freedom of information reveals.

Westbound traffic on Stoney Creek Road has jumped by 25 per cent since July 2020 when compared to average traffic volumes in July 2019, as motorists appear to be circumventing the toll.
