A teenager has been hailed a hero after rescuing a mum and her daughter from the River Barrow.
The incident happened at the River Barrow in Co. Carlow where the woman and her 13-year-old daughter were enjoying the nice weather. The pair then came into difficulty but were rescued by a brave teenager who jumped in to save them.
Speaking to RTÉ News at One, 17-year-old Miley Doran explained that Stacey Foley jumped into the river to save her daughter, Sophie, but soon began struggling herself.
Miley explained "It was a warm day, and I was swimming as usual. I glanced over to the right, and I saw the child slip in. Her mother jumped in after her. There was another child who was screaming, 'Help! My mother is drowning.'"
