Teen shot dead in Newark, police say

A 16-year-old was fatally shot in Newark Sunday morning, police said.
Jarrod Lawson, of Newark, was shot on the 500 block of 15th Avenue, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
Additional information about the shooting were not immediately available Sunday afternoon.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
