Teen charged with firing at police dog
A teenager is in jail for allegedly shooting at a law enforcement officer.
Christopher Poston, 18, was arrested over the weekend on charges of assaulting a police officer with a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, assaulting a law enforcement agent, reckless driving, fleeing to elude arrest and driving without a license.
The charges stem from an encounter with a Shelby Police officer who stopped Poston near the intersection of Peeble and Kenmore streets believing he might be driving a stolen vehicle.
Poston allegedly got out of the vehicle and ran away. Shelby Police employed a K-9 dog to track Poston. While fleeing from police, Poston allegedly fired at the dog. Police say the animal is uninjured.
