“Like other solo parents out there, I found it hard to do everything on my own,” she says. “I worked three jobs at one stage and have been busy with work and being a mum non-stop. Financially, emotionally and physically, I struggled for many years, but I am lucky to have good friends who helped out.”
Eventually, Nisa says her hard work paid off. Now a homeowner with a full-time job as a librarian she enjoys and a daughter who is more independent, she’s in a much better place. Thanks, in large part, to getting into tramping.

A move that ultimately “changed my life”.
