Mobeen Tahir, associate director of research at WisdomTree, says the EV theme is beginning to make its way into portfolios through different avenues.
"Equity investors are not only looking at automakers, but they are also exploring the entire battery value chain that sustains the EV application," he explains.
"This includes miners of raw materials and battery manufacturers, but also those developing new charging technologies as well as alternatives to batteries like hydrogen fuel cells."
He adds: "Commodity investors can also participate in this theme through their exposure to the raw materials integral to the manufacture of electric vehicles. Some of these metals include copper, silver, nickel, aluminium, and potentially platinum."
