The director of a Stourbridge plumbing business has been given a suspended jail sentence for fraud after claiming his business was registered as “Gas Safe.’
Nicholas Marks admitted four charges while the company itself, Topmarks Plumbing Ltd of Ham Lane, Pedmore, admitted five.
Magistrates heard that the firm wasn’t registered as ‘Gas Safe’ but misled customers into thinking it was by advertising the trademark on its website and then carrying out work it should not have.
At Dudley Magistrates Court Marks, 50, whose address was given as Walsall Road, Lichfield, admitted two fraud charges and two brought under the Consumer Protection Act.
