Stanhope House live shows to resume next week after winter closure

The news that live shows are returning to the Stanhope House is likely music to the ears of the venue's supporters, many of whom were concerned last fall after hearing that it was in danger of closing due to statewide restrictions on public gatherings.
Owner Jon Klein created a GoFundMe campaign in October that had raised more than $8,900 of its $10,000 goal as of Wednesday afternoon. The Stanhope House is also accepting Venmo payments to the handle "SaveALegend," which will help keep the venue afloat.
The Stanhope House, known to many as "The Last Great American Roadhouse," was built in 1794 and has served as a music club since the 1960s. World-famous musicians including Muddy Waters and Stevie Ray Vaughan have performed there, and according to the venue's website, Babe Ruth was a frequent customer in the era of Prohibition.
