STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After St. John’s University announced its commencement ceremonies would be virtual for the Class of 2021 amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, two seniors from the Staten Island campus on Grymes Hill have started a petition for an in-person graduation.
Seniors Leanna Rivera and Evan Didia began the Change.org petition Thursday evening, which has nearly 1,800 signatures as of Monday afternoon, urging St. John’s to host in-person commencement ceremonies for Staten Island students due to the small class size.
