Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. and its entertainment namesake, Alice Cooper, have selected Columbus, Ohio-based
South of Eden as the winner of their "Driven to Perform" garage band contest.
Fans voted the band the winner of the contest and the opening act for the group Evanescence in a livestream concert on May 13.
The contest asked bands to submit original work, as well as a cover of Alice Cooper's song "Under My Wheels," for an online voting contest. Cooper Tire said more than 12,000 fans voted and registered as part of the contest, selecting South of Eden over Suspect208 and Ashland.
Chris Ball, senior vice president and president, Americas for Cooper Tire, called the competition "an amazing ride."
