TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (Seminoles.com) – The Third-ranked Florida State softball team (17-0) begins ACC play on Friday, March 4 against Pitt at 6:00 PM at JoAnne Graf Field. ACC regular-season series are back to three games this season. Friday (1 PM) and Sunday’s (12 PM) games will be streamed on ACCNX while Saturday’s game will not be televised. The Seminoles look to remain unbeaten this season after starting 17-0 and 11-0 at the Seminoles Softball Complex. This is the fourth-longest winning streak to start a season in program history and the second-longest under head coach Lonni Alameda. In 1992, the Seminoles started the season on a 25 game winning streak, in 2019 the Noles won 22 straight games and in 1993 FSU won 21 straight games to start the season. The Seminoles have been the elite team in the Atlantic Coast Conference for several years. Since the conference added softball in 1992, Florida State has won 17 of the 28 ACC Championships, including a shared title with Maryland in 1997. The Noles have earned regular-season conference or division titles in seven of the last eight seasons and earned ACC Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Seminoles are 171-22-1 in their last 188 ACC regular-season games (.912) and have only lost three conference series since May 5-6, 2012. Florida State is 20-2 all-time against the Pitt Panthers with one loss coming in 2021 and one loss coming in 2018. Last season the two teams played three times in Pittsburgh with FSU taking two of three games. Pitt won the first game 6-5 before the Seminoles won two straight – 5-4 and 14-0. Danielle Watson earned the Noles win in game three and Kalei Harding hit two home runs in the final game of the series last season. The Seminole pitching staff is still unbeaten with a perfect 17-0 record through the first three and a half weeks of the season. They have combined for 113 strikeouts in 111 innings while holding the opponent to a .176 batting average. The Noles have a combined 1.21 ERA.
