Snow goose numbers finally building at Middle Creek

With warming temperatures and the weekend’s rain, ice on the lake at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area at Kleinfeltersville is disappearing fast and numbers of snow geese at lake are booming.
Lauren Ferreri, manager at Middle Creek, counted about 40,000 snow geese there on Monday. That was the largest number this year and “the first time this year that snow goose numbers surpassed 10,000.”
A winter-imposed delay in the start of the northward migration by snow geese appears to have put the birds on a later schedule than they follow in most other recent years.
