Shearer union gets rise out of wool industry after saying farmers “get away” with underpaying shearers

Innovation has been circling the shearing sector with shearing tables, machines and even robots. Most of the wool industry prefers to head in this direction rather than attempting to raise the award rate, which they would struggle to do without any evidence of a jump in worker productivity.

The Australian Workers Union has been told to "stick to its knitting" after it called for the shearer award rate to be raised by at least one dollar a sheep.
