The Second Harvest Food Bank is hosting a community food drive in April.
KATC is reporting that the food bank is hosting the drive in recognition of this month being Senior Hunger Awareness Month.
WHY DO WE NEED A FOOD DRIVE?
According to the report, Louisiana ranks almost dead last on yet another list, as 23% of seniors in Louisiana are not always certain of how they will get their next meal, which is why Second Harvest is hosting the event.
Many seniors live on a fixed income. They skip meals or choose between buying groceries or paying their rent or utility bills, or even medication - Paul Scelfo, Second Harvest Food Bank via KATC
