Santa helps Sebring Village shine for holidays

A crowd gathered Saturday night in Sebring's Harvest Park to celebrate the village's tree lighting. Santa Claus arrived at the park in a village fire truck and took charge of turning on the city's tree to cheers from a socially distanced crowd. Children had a chance to let the old man in red know what they are hoping to receive for Christmas this year once Kris Kringle set up in a large chair at the center of the gazebo. Parents had the chance to take photos of the moment, and then enjoyed hot chocolate and other treats at Ohio Avenue and 15th Street in the village. The event was smaller than the one that village residents have enjoyed the past few years. The annual Christmas Parade and an event for all ages were shelved out of concerns about big gatherings in the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Alliance and nearby Minerva Village also kicked off their holiday displays Saturday with community events.
