SAN ANGELO — This San Angelo woman used the last dollars in her bank account to start a new business in the middle of the COVID pandemic.
Tammy Merwin opened Vivid Pop Events, a balloon-decoration business, at 221 N. Main St., in September 2020, selling garlands, displays and helium bouquets.
She knew opening the business was a risk, but she decided it was a risk worth taking.
"During COVID, I was in the middle of losing everything — my career, my ability to lean on my band (West Texas Funk), which provided a supplemental income. There was no way out," Merwin said. "I figured I am already at the bottom, the only way out is up.
