A leader an activist and an officer of the law all of us are truly revealed and in that moment we must begin asking the important questions that our Society Needs answered in the last 2 weeks weve been witness to tear gas pepper spray but tons shields rubber bullets chemical balls piss boots yes even knees again unleashed on us citizen citizens and whats become an all too common sight on the evening new why in the last few days weve seen police in buffalo by only push a 75 year old man down to the ground with such force that you could hear the crack of the mans skull on the concrete before he lay motionless bleeding from the air while they all walked by why. In denver we saw the police after they fire a chemical weapon at a car carrying a pregnant woman when confronted by her boyfriend the police opened fire with a hail of pepper ball shots on him and his pregnant girlfriend and the car why weve seen journalists legal observers and medics all targeted by Law Enforcement people people whose very job at a protest is to both documented and keep people safe are now being beaten arrested and shot by rubber bullets and pepper sprayed in the face why. To keep the peace if that is the peace the Law Enforcement represents then let me ask you is that a piece worth keeping yes windows have been broken yes buildings have been burned innocent people have been hurt but is the destruction of commercial or private property by looters or rioters justification enough for the police or now even possibly the military to wage war on those brave enough in our society to take to the streets and march for equality in criminal justice reform. Let me tell you something thats only justified when a government is no longer of the people for the people and by the people and has descended into what is a very constitution and bill of rights protects against fascism. And fighting against that descent into passions them is why we are always watching the hawks. If you want to know whats going on a city you street you want to see. What are so you like to see the prizes the joys state ill see your boys roll strikes mass graves suggest slaves systemic deception is still a show but it sure is i went so when the joke. Welcomer on watching the horse i am tire over and over and im a surprise. And joining us today to discuss the current state of the georgia way black lives matter protest and Law Enforcement by late response to these protests from atlanta park a legal observer with the National Lawyers and here in washington d. C. The rights activist harry reid. Age id like to start with you you you felt the direct force of Law Enforcement versus protester earlier this week of monday when in your job as a legal observer of the protest the Atlanta Police Department Arrested you 1st can you describe what a legal observers job at a protest is and why did the Atlanta Police attack and arrest you. All and we started in 1068 we have been monitoring protests since 968. For like black panthers and different groups it is our job to ensure that protestors are using their free speech and not be unconstitutionally but Police Forces or in this case even the national guard. And what happened to you in the seraphs how did this all come about. Well. I i was with another legal observer who was also arrested and we were simply documenting people who have been arrested or people who may have been arrested we ask for their names and number they so we can just support later. We knew where target is one of. The girls in green had no they took us away and the people we were monitoring were not even arrested they specifically targeted a stew and then they arrested him only for poor people who were with us and then that night they arrested its holdall more than 50 people in the grandest of the prison bus in the middle of cold in 1000 pandemic its. Wow. But yes its frightening to even think about in asia we know that theres been a lot of being during this protest the van that we havent necessarily seen before specifically the treatment of people like yourself police normally dont arrest or pester don with legal observers or medics during protests why do you believe that now who is now being broken and what have been galatea of these attacks. I believe has been broken out the same day i was arrested there are some Atlanta Journal constitution reporters arrested so avidly these are the being broken specifically so that there is nobody to document the brutality of the lead a police force specifically also nation why. Whats the reporter there on whats the legal observers on the cops are free to do as a please and even seeing what they do on camera we see them arrest reports of terrorism what are they doing when the cameras are not the be can be played the images of buildings to actually be murder what is happening to the human being on the street so i believe we are being targeted because they want to continue their actions retaliate without being noticed. Perry youve been a target for your civil rights activism by Law Enforcement for many years what do you feel is motivating the rise in the violence of these attacks on protestors citizens journalists legal observers and now it seems that as we learned earlier to be old white 75 year old man by Law Enforcement why is the violence rising amongst police. Well here we are this point. Where the theater of losing power is the sole reason why weve seen such early resistance to calls for justice now the idea that americas traditional principles and values are rooted in the. Leadership and dumbbells all of the entire court which says. We are getting exactly what we pay for. 2015 say we want someone whos going to run this country like a business well were in a business right now and then im pretty ill. You know that its most certainly isnt. And with the arrest of the 4 officers involved and the taking down of confederate statues and monuments across the Southern States there are many of the mainstream there now expecting to see these protests and marches in but thats not exactly going to be the case is it perry what are your thoughts. Yes my hopes are that it because usually what happens and ive been on watching the hawks previously would for land ok. Michael brown was killed when the commandant was killed and we go to the easy steps to a Police Killing and those steps include the shock then we go to the outreach then the call home and room in the west a geisha. You know it with minnesota then we have that are to charge which we had a change in this case where charges were upgraded number 6 we have the cool by our moment and we had a lot during the virus persona iris now with the police. We. Need your time in. America especially those who are on the who are not conservative in the illini we hope that we do not get collective. Its back to business as usual age i want to do is were not going back to business as you measure i want to bring you back into versus what do you feel Going Forward you know what what is the case can be Going Forward and where do you see these marches and these protests going next. For war or hope that people continue to demand to defund the police and hope that we push tourist abolition of prisons ive hoped that the reformist policies that are starting to come out now do not get too much Energy Behind them and been seen celebrities repos things talked about being told when many departments are in banjul calls. In a chokehold and the n. Y. P. D. Deny that he was initial hole even though we saw the video so i do hope that people continue in the streets to demand plenty and in a Police Intervention the abolishment of the Police Forces but i hope that the reformist policies from the neo liberals who arent on the streets i hope they dont subdue the protests i hope people can see to buy into it substantial change and major what do you think is going to help to bring about that change in terms of we know that protests are great in that they do bring about a lot of attention to issues that otherwise people naturally ignore but protests typically dont last for months at a time how do we continue to keep the feet to the fire how do we continue to keep people engaged in these issues that matter so much to changing our society. And who are what is important here in atlanta we have a great group called the peoples response and randall which is a coalition of different planes aces many of them ive let live and they are trying to. Mopes political education they are trying to integrate the demands of the protests with the demand of the pandemic such as the rich strike they want to bring people into organisations people hopefully across the nation there are organizations in the streets people who are trying to gain membership that we were supposed to do stuff and still have organize frett it gets the best of them in this country so hopefully i hope that west protests over their people joining the organization theyre being politically educated so they know what is going on and how to spread the information to their communities and i just hope that we find a way to direct energy especially outside of simply voting there are other ways to change our community outside of voting but we need to learn how to hope politicians responsible once they are in office because down here in atlanta we have to balance shes doing a media run right now and the problem is that she was lesser of 2 evils vote and we have to figure out how do we hold that kind of person accountable so we have been given her demands for years. There is a mental in atlanta last year he was the organizer is they with us so his family has been trying to balance to start an investigation and eventually get the charts but we hope that all of this injury is put into stuff like that put into organizations put into political education so that we continue the Movement Even if it is in the street and some of us hope it will be in the church itll be. Community meetings in city Hall Meetings where everybody can put this in energy and where this change i hope that we can see to do and i hope that people grab all. Our i couldnt agree with you more age i want to say i want to thank you for the good work that youre doing out there in atlanta and put yourself on the line im on the front lines of this fight because i do believe it is at the end of the day a fight against oppressive government oppressive fascism and passes them and also of course read. As im at the end of a institutional racism thank you so much for coming on today and i also want to thank perry red for coming on we didnt lose his feed halfway through but thank you both for your fight out there and keep up the great work. All right as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand for the brand new portable t. V. App on all platforms now you do not have to wait to get it it is that there are so pick it up and check it out coming up we take an indepth look at how pregnancies and giving birth have been affected by the cold with 19 pandemic you did not want to miss this conversation stay tuned to watch the whole. Join me every thursday on the alex simon show and ill be speaking to guest of the world of Politics School business im showbusiness ill see you then. 54 jets and more than 1300 military personnel are headed to heal some air force base in alaska where is that to say come on ill show you whats the reason for any type of enhanced u. S. Military presence in this area russia. What is it suddenly about the South China Sea that makes it so that it 11000000000 barrels of oil you. Take a look at this map who really owns what kind of says no it belongs to us india says no we claim that that belongs to us both of these countries have Nuclear Weapons capabilities there is reason for concern so thats why were going to drill down on this story for you today right here on the news with rick sanchez where you know as we always like to say we do believe by golly its time to do news again. The United States has long been used as the human rights beliefs of other nations all other nations not only calling out Human Rights Violations abroad but staging or working behind things to overthrow regimes for their abuses. But those living in glass houses probably shouldnt throw stones at the recent murders of black people like Brianna Taylor a model and george floyd by Police Officers an armed vigilante justice speaking civilians rightfully sparked outrage instead of leaning in for understanding or looking at the policies that have nurtured the environment for racism and White Supremacy to grow President Trump demanded lethal force against protesters when the looting starts the shooting starts famous words from trump but for blacks like my grandmother who lived through the Civil Rights Movement these words were new or original bull connor popularized them when thinking dogs and water hoses on protesters speaking to him jim crow they were also used by miami police chief Walter Headley in 1067 as he advocated for radical racialized Police Policy targeting young black and brown people segregationist George Wallace also used the phrase during his 1968 president ial campaign from flavor e and reconstruction to the formation of the k. K. K. And jim crow to present day horrors of Police Brutality and systemic racism blacks have endured Human Rights Violations for well over 400 years call for justice into Racial Discrimination just keep getting louder the United Nations is being called on now to step in where our government seems to continually fail here tell us more is next to freeman from the black alliance for peace welcome that to. Thank you for having me the history of Human Rights Violations in america is that asked the un has several bodies that have been designed to protect human rights of african and black people because of the genocidal conditions facing our communities why do you think republican and democratic administrations havent really utilized. And then so usually one they dont they do utilize maybe not these particular bodies but they you know leslie the United Nations to advance its imperialist aims again so the countries with the claim to the im sorry the claims that other countries are violating the human rights of their citizens and to justify their ability to go in and intervene in these countries but this country is founded on Human Rights Violations that continue their worst persist ever since enslavement of Indigenous People very sorry sorry about that. Indigenous people and also to then say that of African People on and so the the the peak the perpetrators of these violations are the agents that are here to uphold of the order of White Supremacy and capitalism in this country and so they cant go to those bodies because it would mean. Having to address the fundamental aspects of this country the foundations of power in privilege on the on the previous segment we had a gentleman talking about power and why some of the power being the motivating force behind some of these things which i agree however we have to look at what the nature of the fundamental nature of that power we have to identify it and oppose it in those those just White Supremacy in capitalism and patriarchy and these are the foundations of this country the democrats and the republicans are basically 2 birds with 2 wings on the same bird that just carry out the main maintenance of this country the american exceptionalism and the facade of what his country stands for but only in different ways but one seems to be more like the iron fist in the gulf of. Mexico i want to have through to you see im a member of some b. C. Fox and over and over again all their talk about is no Police Policies that need to be changed. To see equity in things about nature you know is there really is Police Reform at this point truly a lost cause i mean is there anything that we can change without just you know ripping out the entire system of policing in this country and starting fresh. No theres not but i think some of what should be inform the policies because youre also seeing things like beef on the police and things like that to sound very radical a lot of people are saying they even have it on fox news which makes who should really have us pause really should inform the demands that we have which also means the campaigns that we can take up are is that the radical tradition of the people most impact within the black radical tradition we had like that the panthers and the you know in the ram and used Union Movement they had campaigns calling for Community Control over the police which means the communities that are being curtailed and occupied by these Occupation Forces get the they have the democratic right the human right the selfdetermination to decide to hire fire determine the priorities the duties of these these forces are determine the consequences if they they do something wrong the repercussions of something wrong these are things that we can actually call for and when in fact the better than the history of the black Panther Party in california they put it on the ballot and that of having all officials who invariably fail us and we vote for them we can vote for bell and then just who says and referendums although they will of course pass those things with us to cut the more power shifting type of demand that we can actually fight for and in fact just in 2016 and it wasnt the last the 1st time the human United Nations working group of people of african descent experts of people of african descent came on a Fact Finding Mission to the United States to look at the u. S. The human rights situation of people of african descent here and upon seeing a whole host of the normal violations the characteristic violations we talked about what among the recommendations was Community Control over the police and so these are things which actually answers the call. Previous question that they really they wont you know abide by these things without a struggle but we can if we want if we actually align ourselves with the International Solidarity and movement and take our things up to the higher bodies like United Nations and some redress not that they will automatically jump in there but with pressure from below and in the mass pressure and general solidarity you can actually force the power play at them in ways that will well see some change and i believe that will happen. Next after years upon years of promises made him promise broken and naturally weary black population in america how do you think the you win can work to establish trust in the system and dismantle decades of oppression and Human Rights Violations. So i dont think its more us using the u. N. To do it that we do with them that they are really maybe a mechanism that we can take our grievances to and also our our. You know our situations to our circumstances to internationalize this struggle to put pressure on International Pressure on the on the bodies on the powers that be on those things have can work i mean of that sort rankly why the almost at the attack malcolm x. And and dr king because of their their ability to into not just them but their movements and organizations they were to internationalize the struggle so for us weve got to have some more concrete demands more formidable demands that are not subject to cooptation like Community Control of the police and community can be controlled in general of the community i mean the human right to health care right now were seeing just as many people i mean so many people are dying of particularly African People people of african descent from the covert one Team Pandemic but theyve done a interesting job of focusing on a person who tragically died but who. Others are tragically dying regularly and then even when it has hands of the police it wont be this one person and there will be many more but they focus on one and have bring all the clergy and the and the blackness Leadership Class in the in the celebrities to come in and make it a big show of passivism to quell what dr king called the the voice of the on her riot so the voice of the hurt is what dr king called but they criminalize them and they these classes help them criminals but we have to come together and not criminalize anyone and have formidable in the men and make a united front of organization that we most certainly do not always a pleasure having you on and educating our audience of you always do maam thank you so much as always sir. Thank you. All right everybody that is our show for you today remember in this world we are definitely not fold we are love them enough so i tell you all i love you i am to roll over and to. Keep on watching all those hawks out there and have a great night and stay safe. America was never great was founded on the rape and murder. Nothing changed so we said in. Response to these situations that we do in the ways. People get shot every day she is just people killing each other blacks are killing children. There was just no way that people are going to just sit back and allow children to be shot down Law Enforcement. This country doesnt work for us it doesnt function for us. This is cant be happening in america we call from the streets weve got to deal with why this is the reason i have to rat like this is a reason. To spiral downward depending on who you believe in the media the civil unrest in america is the result of systematic racism this explains protests and right but does it make. Minting heights controlling the Financial System media and the Business World are loath to admit it its the economy stupid for them to raise all these. You. Know whats a clip of she will no news to you. But me my its always at the k. Was a little more what. Not so you need a new media was a couple today thankful for us i wouldnt get the cooped up.
