Robert John “Bob” Nyquist, age 93 passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Waterview Shores Nursing Home in Two Harbors while battling cancer with his family by his side. He was a true fighter until the end. He was born in Two Harbors, MN in 1928 to John Oscar and Violet Nyquist. He graduated Two Harbors High School with the class of “46”. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and when he returned back home he met the love of his life Marilyn Mattson at a dry dance in Duluth. Five years later they met again in Minneapolis and fell in love. They were happily married for 68 years and were true soulmates. He was employed by the D.M. and I.R. railroad for 12 years as an electrician. He then started the local business Reddi Electric with his good friend Bud Kragseth. After the business he was a construction electrician for I.B.E.W. local #242 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, I.B.E.W., American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Two Harbors Golf Club. He was also a member of the Electrician Senior Retiree Club where he had so many good friends. He recently received his 70 year membership pin from the I.B.E.W. union.
