Regional primaries favor incumbents, set up races in May and November

Incumbents Gary VanDeaver and Bryan Hughes will keep their seats representing the region in the Texas Legislature, and Texarkanian Jrmar "JJ" Jefferson will face Victor D. Dunn in a runoff for the Democratic nomination for U.S. House Congressional District 1, according to complete, but unofficial results of Tuesday's party primary elections.
