BOSTON — Rafael Devers ranged far to his left to field a ground ball hit by Orioles’ Austin Hays in the fourth inning with two outs. He dived and made the play but then his throw to second base sailed into right field.
That kept the inning alive and allowed Rio Ruiz to advance to third. Hays took second on a passed ball. They both scored on Maikel Franco’s single, putting Baltimore ahead 2-0.
