Joseph M. Matalon, Chairman of Radio Jamaica Limited, has announced that the company's board members will no longer be allowed to endorse political candidates or parties.
The announcement arises from recent disquiet over Mr Matalon's endorsement of Mark Golding for the post of president of the People's National Party.
In a statement Monday afternoon, Mr. Matalon said that, upon reflection, he would not repeat such an action.
He noted that the company's workers, and specifically journalists, have had strong and clear guidelines on political affiliation, with such affiliation being restricted at the journalistic level. He said the guidelines will now also apply to the Board of Directors.
