PROVINCETOWN — When Randy Jansen urged town officials to prepare for a potential coronavirus outbreak at the end of February, few could have anticipated the storm of a global pandemic that was about to strike.
“It’s not a pandemic yet, but it looks very good,” Jansen said during public statements at the Feb. 24, 2020, Select Board meeting. “Those communities that plan are the ones that will be able to do it without chaos.”
Until that day, Jansen, 65, a resident for 22 years who owns a housecleaning business and an eBay business, had never spoken at a Select Board meeting. He didn’t know he needed to state his name as he stood at the microphone to speak. He didn’t speak directly into the microphone, and was corrected on that.
