SAN DIEGO —
A pursuit that began when San Diego police tried to pull over a car with expired registration on Wednesday night ended when the driver crashed into another vehicle and a light pole — and then ran into a canyon.
The pursuit began around 10:45 p.m. when an officer driving on Santa Margarita Street in the Valencia Park neighborhood spotted a sedan with expired registration.
When the officer tried to pull the car over, the driver took off and the officer lost sight of him. The car crashed into a SUV and an electrical pole at the intersection of Santa Margarita and San Jacinto Drive, said San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez.
