Changes to workers’ compensation legislation have been forcing city police to hire more people just to stay fully staffed, Brockville council members were told this week.
The Brockville Police Service is asking for a 2021 budget of $8,282,411, a 3.13-per-cent increase over last year, or just over $251,000.

Police Chief Scott Fraser and police services board chairman King Yee, Jr. unveiled the budget at Tuesday’s virtual city council meeting, part of a series of budget presentations that also included St. Lawrence Lodge and the YMCA.
