Police arrest stolen vehicle suspects in Ventura and Simi Valley
Authorities arrested stolen vehicle suspects in Ventura and Simi Valley as part of two separate investigations this week.
The first arrest was made around 10 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue in the city of Ventura.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office had been investigating a series of thefts when they were able to locate a stolen vehicle in Ventura. Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as Mario Montez, 43, who had an active felony warrant for violating his post-release community supervision, according to authorities.
Deputies pulled Montez over in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue, after which Montez attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended. While Montez was detained, he was found to be in possession of the key to the stolen vehicle.
