The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and German State-owned development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) have signed a financial contribution contract worth €20 million (around US$24.41 million), for the conservation of 12 protected natural areas.
These resources come from a donation made by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and will be destined to the project "Financial Sustainability for Protected Areas of the northern Amazon Biome."
Economy and Finance Minister Waldo Mendoza indicated that this amount will help improve the protection of biological diversity and the sustainable use of natural resources in 10 protected natural areas under national administration, as well as two regional conservation areas.
