The Michigan Department of Transportation is preparing for a busy road construction season along M-25 in St. Clair and Sanilac Counties. Construction Engineer Craig Innis of MDOT's Huron Transportation Center says two separate sections of the highway are slated to be resurfaced this summer. A mile and a half of M-25 between Hancock Street in Port Huron and M-136 in Fort Gratiot, including the Black River Canal Bridge, will be the subject of a $5.8 million dollar road construction project beginning April 4th. "It will not shut down M-25 but there will be lane closures," says Innis. "We're going to have least three lanes open during the day at all times, one lane in each direction, and and center turn lane." It is expected to be completed by August. During the nighttime hours, the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Left turns onto Holland Avenue from M-25 will be restricted during bridge repairs. A virtual public meeting will be held to discuss the project Thursday, March 24th at 5pm via a conference call. Participants will need to dial 248-509-0316 and enter the conference ID number 630 604 589#. Another portion of M-25 in Sanilac County will also be receiving attention from MDOT later on this spring. M-25 north of Fisher Road to the Village of Lexington will be resurfaced with single lane closures expected. That project is expected to start in early May and be completed by the Memorial Day weekend. The projects are being funded by the governor's road bonding initiative.
