Over 30,000 Birds Migrate to Iran's Gandoman Wetland From Siberia in Winter

Located at the foot of the Zagros mountains in north-western Iran, Zarivar is a freshwater wetland hosting over 74 bird species, which is designated as a Ramsar Site.
Over 30,000 migratory birds have come from their habitats in Central Asian countries and Siberia to winter in Gandoman wetland, southwestern Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari province.
Currently, 50 species of birds live in the wetlands of the province, Shahram Ahmadi, head of the province’s department of environment, said on Saturday.
These birds include ducks, Eurasian teal, egrets, herons, flamingos, small and large grebes, sandpipers, coots, bitterns, northern lapwing, large white-headed gulls, and sternidae.
