PM Orbán: Hungary Expects Excellence from Its Universities
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Tuesday held talks with the heads of the supervisory boards of the foundations running Hungary’s universities that have recently adopted new operational models, Orbán’s press chief said.
The mission of the universities that have shifted from being state-run to being operated by foundations is for them to be Hungary’s engines of growth and to help boost the country’s competitiveness, Bertalan Havasi cited the prime minister as saying.
Opposition parties are turning to the Constitutional Court over the controversial law that outsources the operation of several universities and valuable state assets into foundations to be led by a number of figures loyal to the government.
