Ola Kamara scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season and D.C. United defeated the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Sunday night for their first-ever win over one of their oldest rivals at Audi Field.
Julian Gressel created the turnover and provided the assist leading to Kamara's goal, which finally got United (6-7-2, 20 points) a victory against the Red Bulls (5-6-3, 18 points) in D.C. in a fifth attempt since the stadium opened in 2018.
New York had won three of the previous four meetings in D.C. This was the 82nd all-time league meeting between the two founding MLS members.
