NYPD tickets to dangerous drivers down by nearly half from prepandemic year

Cops issued 330,477 summonses to drivers for moving violations during the first seven months of 2022, NYPD data show. That’s a plunge of 47% from the same period of 2019, when cops gave 627,818 summonses to rule-breaking motorists.
