North Carolina hires Hubert Davis as Roy Williams' successor

North Carolina hired Hubert Davis as its new men’s basketball coach, the school announced Monday.
"Hubert Davis is the best leader we can possibly have for our men's basketball program," UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham said. "He teaches student-athletes on and off the court."
Davis, 50, has served on the Tar Heels’ coaching staff as an assistant since 2012 and will be replacing the legendary Roy Williams, who announced his retirement from coaching last week. This will be the first head-coaching gig for Davis, who played at North Carolina from 1988-1992, helping the Tar Heels earn two ACC tournament titles and advancing to the 1991 Final Four.
