TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Women’s Basketball prepares for a busy three-game schedule this week, first playing Clemson on the road at LittleJohn Coliseum on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

The meeting between the Seminoles (7-7, 1-3) and Tigers (6-10, 0-5) is the 61st in series history. The two familiar foes will be playing each other twice this week, as the Tigers make the return trip to Tallahassee on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Center.

The last two matchups between Clemson and Florida State have gone down to the wire. Their last meeting on Jan. 21, 2021, resulted in a 95-88 double-overtime win by FSU as current senior Morgan Jones went off for 36 points, while Clemson’s Delicia Washington had 33 points in the home win for FSU. On Dec. 17, 2020, Clemson squeaked out a 72-69 win over the Seminoles at Littlejohn Coliseum.

The last meeting also included a career-high 18 points from Sammie Puisis and six blocked shots from River Baldwin.

The Seminoles’ last game resulted in a 68-64 loss at No. 15 Georgia Tech on Jan. 13, out-rebounding the nation’s top defensive team, 36-33. It was one of the few times this season where FSU fielded a full roster.

Two freshmen playmakers in point guard O’Mariah Gordon and forward Makayla Timpson have been very productive in their first seasons. Both players rank in the Top 10 among freshmen in the ACC in scoring (Timpson 4th; Gordon 6th) and rebounding (Timpson 4th; Gordon 9th). Gordon is tied with Duke’s Shayeann Day for the ACC freshman lead in assists with 3.29 per game.

Gordon is also the ACC leader in assist/turnover ratio in conference games, leading at 3.17.

Jones is riding a 12-game streak of scoring in double figures, scoring a game-high 12 points last game at 15th-ranked Georgia Tech. Her streak is the longest by a Seminole since All-American Kiah Gillespie did it in 13 straight games in FSU’s 2019-20 season.

Florida State has three double-figure scorers in ACC play this season, including Jones (14.7), Timpson (10.5) and Bianca Jackson (10.3).

In conference play, Florida State ranks first in the league in free throw percentage at 83.6 percent (46-of-55). Overall, the Seminoles are shooting 71.1 percent from the charity stripe this season.

The Seminoles rank in the Top 50 nationally in field goal percentage (39th; 45 percent) and field goal percentage defense (48th; 36 percent).

A quick turnaround this week includes a Thursday home game vs. rival Miami at 8 p.m. on Bally Sports.
