A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has stopped the establishment of the national carrier, Nigeria Air, proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government. The Nigerian government in 2018 announced plans to establish an airline. The government claimed it would not own more than 5% stake in the airline, ceding control to private investors expected to invest $300 million in the new airline at inception, and the name and logo of Nigeria Air were unveiled at the Farnborough Air Show in the United Kingdom in July 2018.
