Environment Canada said snow has developed over the Kootenay Pass early (Friday) morning with total snowfall accumulations of up to 50 cm possible through midday Sunday.
Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm alert New Year’s Day for Highway 3, including the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
Environment Canada said drivers can expect to see hazardous winter conditions over the next couple of days as a series of disturbances will move across the BC Interior bringing significant snowfall to many mountain passes.
“Snow has developed over the Kootenay Pass early (Friday) morning with total snowfall accumulations of up to 50 cm possible through midday Sunday,” Environment Canada website said.
