hope in his voice and we were hopeful but not knowing not only two days later that Eugene wouldn't be here, but countless others. I received the first list of all of our departed on May 5th of 2020. So you can imagine going from March to may not knowing all who have been impacted on Lee getting Thio here a number and our people aren't numbers of people. They're really real lives that they live in our city. And for the first time, I picked up that list going today and I noticed my red lipstick stain sealed on it because that was the love that I had in my heart and extending it to all of our loved ones here in the city that we lost due to Kobe 19 and on Lee because of covert 19. Now, while on the front end, we were told that we could lose thousands, but because working together our public safety team and making the decisions that were necessary, we know that we save lives. However, the 700 that have lost or we've lost will never come back. But the love that we have for them and their loved ones have for them, it will never diminish at all. So while way have planned, meaning my administration, along with the New Orleans City Council we have allocated proper resource, is to ensure that we have a permanent exhibit for our loved ones. But because we wanted to make sure that our people were highlighted in a transition that will be transformative for this country on tomorrow, that we will be fully represented in our loved ones will stand tall within our hearts and within our minds. Make no mistake about it. And while we know that we've lost 700 we also understand the thousands of people are people are connected to them forever. So I want to say, on behalf of the city of New Orleans and what I've done from Day one, I have been having received notices from the coroner's office. The city of New Orleans has reached out. I have signed personally cards that went out toe, every family, every funeral we've learned about. We've made sure that there has been a presence there by the city of New Orleans, and I am just in awe and an honor to stand here before you with members of our public safety team and that of our New Orleans City Council, where we are letting you know that our loved ones will never be for gotten. And we will always ensure that they live on through us and through this city. So let's do what's necessary so that we do not add numbers people to the registry of those we've lost. Let's do our part to ensure that we protect are people where that mask keep your distance and listen to guidelines of this city and of the state of Louisiana all in place to save lives. But today we honor and we show true love to those that we've lost in our city due to Cove in 19. Thank you so much. Thank you again, Councilwoman, for your leadership.
