Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams,
has been nominated for exactly one Academy Award and nobody is more excited than the residents of a sleepy little town in Iceland.
The real-life Icelandic fishing town of HúsavÃk (pop. 2,300), where the film is set, has launched a clever grassroots YouTube campaign for the power ballad âHúsavÃk (My Hometown),â which is up for âBest Original Song.â
Having adopted the song as a local anthem, the town has created a series of videos that are charmingly silly and self-deprecating, just like the film. HúsavÃkâs fictional mayor, Ãskar Ãskarsson (played by actor Sigurdur Illugason) shows folks around town and expresses his hope that the song will win on Oscar night.
