A racism task force for the National Archives asserts that the United States' Founding Fathers are inappropriately âlaud[ed]â and seeks to âReimagine the Rotundaâ to address the âoverarching system of racial biasâ and curb the âstructural racismâ in the federally-funded institution responsible for preserving the U.S.â primary documents.Â
In the 105-page report completed in April 2021 and released this month, the task force detailed ways the National Archives can discuss âracial inequalityâ both internally and in customer-facing operations, contending that racism âpermeatesâ all aspects of culture at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
