The vote was just clocked in at 7719. They voted to proceed with this. But the details of this bill are ill say it briefly, it keeps the government open until November 17th on a shortterm basis. About 6 billion in economic and military aid to ukraine. About 6 billion additional in disaster are relief funds and extends the faas authorities through the end of the year. That also expire t at the end of this month. Thats the senate side. Theyre in good shape to pass this bill. Unclear if theyll do it by the saturday deadline. Some republican senators could reject to a speedy vote. In this house, its a very, very different situation. Theyre still trying to negotiate with the senate, get it through the democratic controlled senate, theyre going to have to get President Biden. The hard liners want a steep series of cuts which hes struggling to get through the House Of Representatives in his narrow majority. Some also say they will not vote to fund the government on a shortterm basis which leads him in a jam. Hes chosen to keep his job. Hes trying to get these bills through the house. Its going to be a pretty wild ride. There has been people like Catherine Clark, the vote counter. The house whip on the minority de has talked about what the price would be of democrats coming to the table and helping. One of the things would be to end the Impeachment Inquiry. What is is democratic side saying about what price they would exact from Kevin Mccarthy if theyve got to provide him the votes to pass a bill. This question keeps coming up because of the way people like matt gates are trying to overthrow mccarthy is all but inevitable and democrats will have a choice to make. Do they support the motion to make it the speakers chair. Minority power would always do that. It would not support a republican speaker. Ive got to say im very, very skeptical. That he is never going to provide because it would further weaken him to the point of untenltability. They want him to let go of the inquiry. They want him to pursue bipartisan government funding levels. In the words of one aide, stop letting the crazies one the house. Is mccarthy going to do that . Its unlikely. Now they cant even get their checks. Theyre supposed to be so good at messaging. How do you message that . This is a party that claims its pro child, pro family. Pro military. Pro life. All of those things and what are they doing as their opening gambit . Their opening bid . I would note for millie, thats potential witness in this very case. Thats explain to me, its in my hand. Id like you to explain. It seems the summary of this is trump wanted to get this thrown out. The judge said no and did some sort of Summary Judgment saying you did it. You did overvalue your assets. Is this case over. Its not but is a big, big victory for the new York Attorney general. Wall street did not create the middle class. You union workers, you created the middle class in america and thats critical because you see, this is the first president in certainly my lifetime that has said in effect whos side are you own . Im on the side of the Working Class. And thats something that other president s even democratic president s have been reluctant to do. And in the midst of a negotiation thats happening between the union and the workers and everyones been saying dont get involved. Dont take a side. Did what he say today kind of take a side . Because he did see, he is a Working Class guy himself. Hes in their demographic. What do you think that does to their negotiations . I think it does advance the cause of workers in negotiation. The fact of the matter is most americans are working people. Most americans you know, theyre not unionized, most americans, they would like to be. 65, 70 of americans approve of labor unions but when americans get a raise, that helps everybody. That moves the you know, the level upward for everybody. This whole notion, that is the side of working people trying to get ahead. Absolutely. Weve seen it with starbucks workers. The actors and writers in hollywood. Most who are not rich people. Let me play really quick to remind people what donald trump said and what he promised working people when he was running for president. Dont move. Dont sell your house. Dont sell your house. Theyre working four days a week but say you cant. Youve got to work five. What do we do about this . We support workers with labor unions. We make labor unions stronger. We support the uaw when it wants a 40 raise when the ceos and most executives have also gotten a 40 raise over the past five years. Thats what we do. Its called Countervailing Power.
